Why do you call it the dirty pool the Republicans are playing?

Didn't Judge Ginsburg say herself in 2016 about nominating a then SC judge "There's nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being the president in his last year" ????

And when asked whether the Senate should have taken up the vote on the then Garland what did she say? "That's their job."

If that therefore is legal protocol then wouldn't anything at the current time declaring it "dirty" actually be the thing that is dirty itself?
Because they choose to listen to her words only now, when it directly benefits them to, after ignoring them in 2016. And they don't even acknowledge that it was a mistake to block Obama's nominee, as some Democrats have done when it comes to Reid's elimination of the judicial filibuster. Rather, they come up with increasingly flimsy justifications about how this situation is "different," and that makes it "okay."

No YOU see dirty pool. The rest if us see the Constitution in action. The rule of law in action.

And you are dreaming if you really believe that. The Democrats are already scheming like crazy on how they can accuse the Republicans of stealing the election. Big tech is also involved in working on ways to sway the election.

Hopefully after Trump wins overwhelmingly and his Supreme Court nominee is nicely seated, we can get the tribunals underway and silence once and for all the opposition against God and His glorious President.

The same Constitution and rule of law that were in action in 2016? That's the dirty pool.

Really. Do tell?

McConnell Statement on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg | Republican Leader

Mitch McConnell has already straight up admitted he intends to rush a Supreme Court nominee through the Senate, ahead of the election. Even as he admits he stonewalled the previous nomination ahead of the 2016 election.

If you Google the political procedures for Supreme Court nomination, there are all kinds of circus show, involving "nuclear options", showmanship ahead of Congress's own elections, and such. Looking forward to all the things we are about to hear "the left" is doing.

Goodbye America. Democracy was nice while it lasted.

lol yes it is terrible now the shoe is on your foot. Look on the bright side, this gives Biden an incentive to leave his basement and actually do some real campaigning.

Well, if nothing else, it will reveal to the world what a slimey hypocrite Mitch McConnel is.

It's been painfully obvious for years what a slimy hypocrite Mitch McConnel is. I don't think this is going to open anyone's eyes, but it does lay bare the hypocrisy of those who support McConnel's turnabout.

Well we are still a republic. We are not a democracy yet. Even though that is what many on the left want.
Do you believe consent of the governed should be gauged by individuals participating in elections?

Or do you have some other non-democratic method in mind?

Or maybe I'm just assuming consent of the governed is important to you, in which case, my bad.

Another assumption:. that everybody's not a troll. Even a paid troll outsourced by Russia.

When somebody claims the US was never a democracy, I immediately treat that as suspect. Russian trolls absolutely do that.

Oh, I see what's going on.

The 2000 election was decided by a 5-4 split of the Supreme Court. WHEN--not IF--the election shenanigans happen again this year, Trump wants that Supreme Court justice in place and voting by the time they decide the "election" in his favor

We already have one known problem:. Trump refusing to vacate. Trump already stated he intends to issue an executive order forbidding Biden from taking office:.

Trump Threatens To Issue Executive Order Preventing Biden From Being Elected President

It'll probably take court decisions to decide what Trump can and cannot do. Unprecedented actions, no doubt. And he wants the Supreme Court in his pocket for that (the same as he has the Senate in his pocket already, to place those justices there). Once he's got that, he's got his totalitarian rule.

I find it very, very hard to believe that Americans would be okay with that..

Youd be surprised. A good portion of Americans are living in a different world than when you left here.

I come back a lot. I just don't consider it primary residence. And I would really like to keep it that way; I have family. Some Trump supporters. Since Covid, coming back hasn't been much of an option until very recently.

It's a sad situation, because a) lots of hate for Americans overseas, because they lump us all as one, and b) I have to basically say Trump supporters did this to themselves--even if it's my own family . That is truly sad.

I am glad I am neither democrat nor republican so I can point hypocrisy without feeling guilty.

Republicans were wrong and hypocrites in 2016 for not allowing Obama’s nominee , they are hypocrites today to vote on the SCOTUS so close to election, but under the constitution republican and Trump administration has every right to do so. That is why I didn’t expect M. Romney to back down on this vote. He just said he will vote for SCOTUS.

One of the reasons I am supporting Biden is because he claim he is fighting for the soul of America, he wants to bring back political norm we are used to in the past. That means if the constitution gives the right for President to nominate and Senate to vote and fill the vacant in SCOTUS then they should be allowed to do so. I am ok with democrat try to delay or senate filibuster to stop the vote as long as it is within “Senate rule” . Call me sucker , but I crave for the political norm.

What democrats needs to do next 40+ days is forget about this fight and hammer on Coved-19 issue how Trump administration failed miserably.

Terminology. I actually identify as conservative, but I defected when I realized Republicans today are not at all the Republicans I know. So what if Democrats want universal health care and to ban guns. They have a good heart, even if we disagree philosophically how to go about it. Republicans today:. not a good heart.

You & I are kind of the same thing, but identify ourselves differently.

I pride myself as conservatives but the conservatism I believe no longer exist. I never voted party line.

Regarding 2nd amendment, I never believed liberal / democrat will ever be able to change 2nd amendment in my life time. It doesn’t matter liberal get 70 Senators , that will never happen because it task 34-38 States to change an amendment and in this political division that is just wishful thinking.

Pro-life – yesterday a evangelical Christian who worked in DHS in Trump administration said the best things .. being pro-life means “Conception to Grave” , but today’s evangelical's pro-life means only “ conception” , after birth you are all on your own! oh .. on top of that " death penalty" that is not the part of " pro-life" go figure.

Of course, here we are, meeting each other. And I saw a third earlier in the thread. It seems the old-style conservatism exists-- we are just a bunch of un-organized individuals, ever since neocons crowded us out of the Republican party (and incidentally, the same thing happened to Libertarian party at the top).

Regarding 2nd amendment, I see the firearm ban in action in other countries, and it is very successful. I just don't think they should be banned there--in the US. We need a place where they are banned, and another place where they are not.

I'm not sure this is true. Highlighting the Trump party's hypocrisy in this situation has been great for fundraising. And given reports that Donald has blown through much of his campaign funds, that sort of advantage is worth pushing - either to make sure it is a total blowout in the EC, or perhaps using it to increase the odds of taking the Senate as well.

I'm afraid you have it backwards. You see it's not us who are involved in silencing. The cancel culture is firmly planted in the left.

We are not the ones calling for the silencing of people, the burning down of of anything that opposes us. That's planted firmly in the left.

We are not the ones on campuses demanding the restriction on free speech and punishing of students and professors who don't comply with the leftist agenda.

We are not the ones who are doing those things right now.

You don’t want the BLM protestors to “shut up and get back to work”?
Huh.

Other than US Marshals breaking up assemblies. Or Trump supporters assaulting protesters and shooting them with paintball guns and rubber bullets, at the behest of Trump himself. Or Kyle Rittenhouse, who travels to another state with an AR15 in order to "not murder anybody." Or Roger Stone getting pardoned for physically threatening people who talk. Or Trump threatening senators. Or Trump telling reporters how to report, and they are "fake news" unless they do it his way. Or Trump shutting down TikTok.

But other than that.... Shall I keep going? Speaking of which...where did my family's Biden sign go? It was there just yesterday.
