Pelosi is an old pro at this stuff. Note how she walked back to the mic and the sanctimony just rolled off her tongue (well, sort of, she’s having cotton mouth issues lately). "Our dreamers", OY! "I pray pray PRAY!"

Yes, she prays for Trump to be ruined. With prayers like hers who needs Satan?

...kudos to Pelosi. I'm going to keep her response in mind the next time some one on these forums accuses another poster of "hating" the President. It's a tactic I see often.

I like Nancy, especially her use of her right hand. It's always fun to watch her gesticulate.

@wing2000,

Sadly, that's the kind of reaction I've seen and have come to expect from many people who support Trump, regardless if they are a Christian or not. They imitate his personal behavior, in my opinion. It's one of the reasons why I have distanced myself from current Republican Party with him at its helm.

Are you a Christian?

I believe it’s against forum rules to challenge someone’s Christian state. Not 100% sure, but I reported it to the mods as it has NOTHING to do with what I wrote or this thread.

The only people who are privy to the content of her prayers are Nancy Pelosi and God. Since you are neither of them, you have no basis to make this attack.

I'll remove it. But I am challenging your words towards another Christian.

I think that also applies to questioning the Christian faith of a public figure if I’m not mistaken.

She said in the video that she prays for him. Suspect prayers from someone in high position who would benefit from Trump's fall. Common sense, not mind-reading.

Do you normally assume the worst intentions in others when you disagree with their politics?

I’ve been following Pelosi for a long time now. Do YOU normally assume the worst intentions of posters you disagree with?

@durangodawood,

If it was permissible, I would suggest narrowing that down to a certain group of people because that doesn't represent me as an American and it most certainly DOES NOT represent my Christian faith.

I don't remember referring to the meltdowns as being in "Donald fashion". But ok.
"Meltdown" is the word commonly used for Donald and two-year olds. Taking the word and trying to apply it where it does not apply seems to be the fashion amongst the Republicans.

"Calmly"? If you say so. Video shows otherwise.
No, the video shows her calm, but emphatic. No screaming, no insulting, just defending herself against charges of hate.

"This is about the Constitution of the United States and the facts that lead to the President's violation of his oath of office. And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word 'hate' in a sentence that addresses me. I don't hate anyone."
"I pray for the President all the time," Pelosi said. "So don't mess with me when it comes to words like that."
When asked about her comments at a CNN town hall later Thursday, Pelosi again invoked her Catholic faith to explain her response.
"We were raised in the Catholic faith and the word 'hate a person' was just -- that just didn't happen," she said. "The word 'hate' is a terrible word. ... So for him to say that was really disgusting to me."

...growing up in an Evangelical Christian home, I was taught the same. To hate is a sin. Anyone else?

Yet today, I see a lot of political memes from Christians on Facebook (and here as well) asserting that one must hate the President if one is opposed to his policies or behavior.

People, I present you with..... America, 2019.

This is a public forum, so it is not like your posts (and others') aren’t read by me. To say that they are less than charitable towards Trump is being kind. So why the sanctimony?

Honestly I thought her response was great, both in content and in tone.

She would also benefit if Trump had a change of heart and started governing in ways that she feel are more compassionate. You are just assuming the worst possible intentions on her part.

I would defy you to find any post of mine that would suggest Trump is doing the work of Satan.

My sense is that all the legitimate and factual criticism of of Trump is "damning" enough without resorting to literal demonizing.

I did mean that with a bit of humor, playing on the "with friends like these..." angle. Pelosi did tout her Catholicism, so it seemed to fit the play on words at that moment.
