No it doesnt. the SPLC is not responsible for the actions of a disturbed person. Maybe fundies should rethink hating gays and the other alphabet soup people so much that crazy people think it’s ok to murder them or their supporters or supporters of other things fundies dislike.

Some so called Christians are gay bashers or extremely misogynistic , or racist. They espouse things that normal Christians wouldn’t support. If they’re on that hate group list then they’ve done things to deserve being on there
SPLC has been chosen by Google and Facebook as part of their team of "fact checkers" tp censor content they regard as "fake news" or "conspiracy theory".

SPLC isn’t a hate group nor are they anti Christian . They recognize that other religions in the USA also have legal rights . Please remember that the USA doesnt have an official religion and we’re forbidden to let one have control of our government. Not everything that fundies approve of is good for other people. They do have the legal right to not accept restrictive religious beliefs being imposed on them .

I went to the links, looking for evidence that the SPLC was somehow involved in that shooting, and there was nothing at all. The KKK and the Nazis also consider the SPLC to be hateful. For the same reasons that the above organizations think the SPLC is hateful.

Because “ Do unto others .... is a better way to act than to harass and/or murder people who you don’t like because of a Bronze Age idea that should have died in the Bronze Age. Emotional abuse is still abuse by the way.

How can I call myself a Christian.? Easily! I just don’t wake up in the morning thinking that I’m going to harass a Two Spirit person.
So what counts as "harassment" to you? Does your definition include a business choosing to donate to charities that hold traditional Christian values in sexuality but still serve LGBT people? Does this include a church simply saying they will not perform a gay wedding? Does it include a photographer not wanting to shoot for a gay wedding? Are all of these people harrassing "two spirit" (I'm not sure how you can use that phrase unironically) people in your view? Is this emotional abuse?

Good grief! This is obscene! It's the FRC's fault that they were attacked? They can't oppose homosexuality and other "alphabet soup" behaviours without deserving injury and death for doing so? Yikes! Fascist much?

Far Right extremist. Christians do encourage their followers to harass 2 spirit people. To me , that’s a sin because emotional abuse harms. Someone in a stable non toxic relationship is harming no one.

I called them 2 spirit people because they’re a mixture of male and female. English doesn’t have an adequate word to describe them .

My bolding.
Is this 'two spirit' concept something the Episcopal Church teaches? It is certainly new to me....and society as a whole.

Two-Spirit (also two spirit or, occasionally, twospirited) is a modern, pan-Indian, umbrella term used by some Indigenous North Americans to describe Native people in their communities who fulfill a traditional third-gender (or other gender-variant) ceremonial role in their cultures.[1][2][3]

The term two-spirit was created in 1990 at the Indigenous lesbian and gay international gathering in Winnipeg, and "specifically chosen to distinguish and distance Native American/First Nations people from non-Native peoples."[4] The primary purpose of coining a new term was to encourage the replacement of the outdated and considered offensive, anthropological term, berdache.[5] While this new term has not been universally accepted—it has been criticized by traditional communities who already have their own terms for the people being grouped under this new term, and by those who reject what they call the "western" binary implications, such as implying that Natives believe these individuals are "both male and female"[4]—it has generally received more acceptance and use than the anthropological term it replaced.[6][5][7]

Hate breeds hate. If you try to take away the rights of others, some of them will respond violently.

The important thing is that the claim that the SPLC had something to do with it, is apparently a lie created by those who have a financial interest in stirring up hatred.

According to the news accounts, he decided to attack anti-gay groups, and used the SPLC to find one. He could just as well have used Google or Wikipedia. It's not like these groups hide what they stand for. Claiming that the SPLC inspired his hate crime is misleading. But there is some connection.

It's worth noting that the shooter is psychotic, and was off his meds at the tie of the shooting. While I agree that hate inspires hate, and he was involved in pro-gay activities, there are other things going on with this guy.

It's also worth noting that the SPLC does not consider every conservative church to be a hate group. To meet their definition you not only need to say that homosexuality is immoral, you need to combine that with propagating information about gays that is known to be false, and which is likely to provoke hatred.

So, you are not a believer? As a Christian, I have to believe Gods word over man's theory.
I don’t consider the Bible to be inerrant
. In science a theory is roughly a bunch of related facts . By the time something gets to the level of a theory , it means that we’ve got a lot of facts supporting it. So I accept confirmed scientific theories with facts and evidence over religious based stories any day.

That's actually not true.
. Up until the 16th century people believed that the sky was a hard dome over the earth . Some believed the earth was flat . This is from Wikipedia’s article on the firmament .

Is that also an accepted teaching of the Episcopal Church or just your own personal belief?
I don’t know about my church but I’m scientifically literate and the Bible is wrong about so much of natural phenomena so I know it’s not inerrant . That’s not a tenet of my church anyway.

God over everything.
If it is God . Holy books and religion have been misused for centuries to suppress knowledge about natural phenomena and to justify racism , slavery, genocide, permanent or semipermanent castes , misogyny and homophobia.

Now why blame God for the failings of man? Is it God's fault that man turns good into evil?

The Episcopal Church, like all mainline churches, permits both viewpoints, but it’s leadership does nor believe in inerrancy.

. The Bible tells slaves to obey their masters at a minimum. You’re claiming that an abusive exploitive institution like slavery is good because it’s in the Bible and condoned. The USA civil war was fought over these issues including the religious one.

I don’t open a bible and then lose my ability to think. As I’ve said, I don’t accept biblical inerrancy. Harassing gays and the other alphabet soup people is emotionally abusive .

Well, God can be whatever we want it to be according to that ideology so morality is also whatever I want it to be.
