I'm afraid you are going to have to prove to me that Chick-fil-A is the only restaurant on those lonely desolate toll roads. What are you talking about?
The rule is intended (at least on its surface) to ensure that people can get something to eat while driving on a limited access toll road that traverses mostly rural, sparsely-populated parts of the state. Contrary to popular belief, NY state isn’t all a bustling metropolis. It’s mostly dairy farms and corn fields. You can’t just stop at a McDonalds or a BK or whatever, because along large stretches of that road, there aren’t any.
Cause that's not the complaint from the creator of the bill. He said this.
State Rep. Tony Simone (D), who introduced the bill, said its purpose is to allow travelers in the Empire State to have a diversity of food options, per the AP.
“Look, if you want to eat fried chicken while traveling over the holidays, then Chick-fil-A should be open on Sundays,” Simone argued.
He didn't say people were starving and had nothing to eat. He was concerned they couldn't get chicken. And particularly Chick-fil-A chicken.
So really the "what are you talking about" belongs on your shoulders.
