God does promise that He will wipe away every tear in Revelations though I don't think this would be by a mas memory wipe but rather by the glory of His love and precence and also by the awesomeness of the life in eternity.

If we have loved ones who don't make it to heaven, would we remember them? This is where I'm thinking the answer is no, and for obvious reason: we would miss them. And if we missed them, it couldn't be heaven (as we would be sad). So...we either understand and detach from them or the memory of them is gone, yes? Just thinking out loud.

perhaps it did happen and my memory of it is deleted.
He can heal memories. We are told that: "their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Some people thinks this means He will not count iniquities against people. "I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind". (Isaiah65:17)

Like the end of the world already happened?
I don't recall that happening,
but perhaps it did happen and my memory of it is deleted.

Can't say for certain, but I sense you're mocking me. It's cool, either way, as I don't know you. :crosseo:

i had experiences that made me wonder if God changed events. like, i had a classmate that i thought had died. a year or so later i get a friend request from her on FB.
Next time make sure they're dead before you walk away!!

But if you're Mum doesn't make it to Heaven, do you really want to forget her, really forget her as if you never had a mum?

In Heaven they can go to the river of life and be healed of all of that. "Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb " (Rev22:1)

"Once again he measured off a thousand cubits, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough for swimming—a river that could not be crossed on foot"(Ezekiel47:5)

Why would God need to reverse time in the first place. God is omnipresent, that is God resides both in and outside of time seeing everything going on and therefore he knows what is and will and did happen simultaneously therefore he has no need for a "do-over" and can get it right the first.... time. So in other words instead of reversing time he just focuses himself in the past where he wants to be and does what he wants that affects the timeline perhaps erasing something that would have been if he had not made a change. It is hard to fathom God seeing the end of time, the beginning of time and right now all simultaneously in his mind but that is who he is.
It may be that our universe is made such that reversing time may damage it and us, so even if it is possible it may not be prudent to do so, it may even be an act that is "evil" if it damages his creation and gives power to Satan somehow. We just do not know these things to be sure.

Sorry, not my intention. I was considering the effects of erased time.

Can God make it like something never happened (an accident, an abusive situation, a natural disaster, an illness, a death, etc.)?

Here is an off-the-wall example, would God ever choose to wipe the memory of a negative event from all those involved so as to heal them of all signs of the trauma (physical, mental, spiritual) and make it like that negative never occurred (even though it did)?

What do you think? I mean, technically God can do anything, but does He ever choose to reverse time or wipe out the memory of a negative event so He doesn't even need to reverse time?
Paul did crimes against Christians. Most people would have forgotten, except Luke wrote Acts and the record of his works remain. Paul repented as he turned to support Christians. Paul was teaching and working with his hands to support his ministry. His preaching brought healing to the community. Paul’s repentance superseded his offenses.

President Nixon was ousted after his criminal activities were revealed. I can remember it. Others have passed away and their memory died. It may be remembered by reading the annals of history.

If an event happens, and then God reverses time and makes it not happen, then for all of us it did not ever happen. It would only have happened for God. If God was the only one affected by the thing that never happened, and if God never changes, then even God was never affected, and we have a logical contradiction. In other words, he would have done it right the first time, because the alternative is to suggest that he made a mistake that he had to correct, and no one knew about it but him.

The only caveat would be if the subject, such as me, retained a memory of the event that never happened. In that case, the event still never happened, but the miracle was in the vision or dream of what did not happen. I have had a few dreams like that, full of regret over my own bad decisions, and I prayed to God to go back in time to change the past. As soon as I prayed it I awoke, and the "past" was changed.

To be fair, though, the soothing of past trauma comes with time, and God has given us an eternity to forget the bad things in our lives. Such things will be forgotten and completely irrelevant.

Yes. In Kings he turned back time 10 minutes to let Hezekiah know he would live another 15 years.
As for memories, yes in a way to that, too.
When I first came to Christ I was unaware of serious rejection that affected my life. I told the story to a sister in Christ about how when I was 16 years old I was bored that summer and hitch hiked from the SF Bay Area where I lived to Portland, Oregon for a week where I stayed at a rock concert. When I got home, my mother and family moved and the house was empty. I had no idea where they had gone. I was thunderstruck that they would leave before my return. I called my father (parents were divorced) and was able to locate my mother and family.

This sister recognized the trauma of rejection I had experienced and advised me to pray about this with the pastor. The pastor told me to fast 24 hours then come to him for prayer. The next day as I approached his room, the Lord spoke to me and said, "I make those things that are not as though they are" (Rom 4:17). When I got into his office, before he spoke, I wept profusely.

The next morning someone rejected me over some trivial thing. In the past it would feel like someone would reach into my gut and rip my heart out. In this rejection it merely felt like a slap on the face. The memory of my youth remains, but the impact of rejection from that experience God removed it as though it never happened in the first place.

Why would God reverse time? It's not as if he didn't already see the event coming. To need to reverse time, it seems like something would have to catch him by surprise. If he wanted to stop an event he could stop it in advance. Of course God can do whatever he wants, so he could do it... the question is why he would.

God does promise that He will wipe away every tear in Revelations
This has to do with the healing of memories in the river of life. There will be a New Heaven and a New Earth. There we have the tree of life and the leaves are given for the healing of the nations.

"See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." (Isaiah 65:17)

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Rev21:4)
