You guys should really get the great ghost dance underway, or we won't get catgirls in 2060.

The Ghost Dance and other ceremonial dances was once illegal and were punishable by imprisonment until Native Americans were finally given the freedom of religion with the American Indian Freedom of Religion Act in 1978. And that was 54 years after Native Americans were finally granted citizenship. America is 243 years old, but Native Americans have only had religious freedom for 41 years.

I agree, Canada has done terribly by their indigenous population

Now that would've significant in a comparison of different countries if poor treatment was an abberation. So...which country has treated their indigenous population well?

I think the United States government could learn a thing or two from the Canadian government about humility and publicly acknowledging the atrocities that were committed against Native Americans and other minorities in this country. I commend the Canadian government's Statement of Apology to the Former Students of Indian Residential Schools and its formal apology to the First Nations People.

The United States, on the other hand, has issued some hollow apologies to Native Americans, but these so called apologies were hardly acknowledged. President Obama gave the Apology to Native Peoples of the United States back in 2009, but it quickly fell by the wayside too. But this so called apology had a disclaimer attached it and that was nothing in the Resolution authorizes or supports legal claims against the United States. And like the United States history of ignoring the hundreds of treaties it signed with the Indian Nations, these so called apologies were quickly forgotten as well.

Did You Know the US Apologized to Native Americans?

A sorry saga: Obama signs Native American apology resolution; fails to draw attention to it

Norway? The nation of 5,000,000 with next to zero black, Hispanic or Asian population?

Norway vs United States: Cost of living Facts and Stats

There is no problem with diversity, because there is little to none.

Norway where 38.00 of every 100.00 you make goes in personal income tax. And an additional 25.00 for VAT taxes?

So out of 100.00 you actually make 37.00.

That Norway?

Where cars are twice as expensive as in the Is?

Where rent is 67% higher?

Where a meal for two is 132.00 vs 45?

You realize that the only thing that matters is how the citizens of Norway feel about Norway, right?

Try this, fly to Norway and start telling random citizens what you personally don’t like about their country.

See if they don’t just laugh at you...

Another apology that is needed is from the Roman Catholic and other Christian Churches regarding the "Doctrine of Discovery".

I agree with you, Jack. I'm pleased to tell you that there are some Christians who also agree.

The Romero Institute and supporters call on Pope Francis to revoke the Doctrine of Discovery.

The call to rescind the Doctrine of Discovery

Doctrine of Discovery: A scandal in plain sight

Back in November of 2016, over 500 interfaith clergy, including Christians, went to Standing Rock to show their solidarity with the Sioux Nation and their allied native water protectors. During that time, Christian clergy burnt a document that many of the water protectors present said was a copy of the Doctrine of Discovery. Burning the document was a symbolized gesture of rejecting that document.

If I do that on this forum to people who say negative things about the US, what do you think would happen?

There is positive and negative to every nation.

Even Norway.

Why is their love for country good and my love for country bad?

How many other nations have perpetually claimed to have been founded upon freedom, liberty and justice for all or proclaimed in a Declaration of Independence that ALL men are created equal?

But I suspect few, if any Norwegians declare bankruptcy because of unaffordable medical bills.

In a ranking I saw from 2017, the US wasn't even mentioned as one of the top 25 health care systems in the world. I love the US. But health care is an enormously important quality of life indicator. The woefully inefficient and absurdly expensive way we deliver medical care is ruining us.

I didn’t say it was.

Nobody claimed you did call Norway a poophole country.

My point is that after Trump complained about some of the worst countries in the world, he tried to think of something that was completely opposite -- what one might call the best country in the world -- and he immediately mentioned just one: Norway.

I’m saying that if a nation is happy, criticisms from the outside aren’t going to mean anything.

So what countries are ranked the happiest again?

Of course while they were drafting documents that talked about all men being created equal and life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness they owned slaves and said persons of color were 3/5's human. Women vote? Nope. So there's that.

The U.S. government has violated every single one of the hundreds of treaties it signed with the tribal nations, despite the fact that Article VI of the Constitution clearly states: "and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land."

I will also mention Manifest Destiny and "Kill the Indian, Save the Man."

Manifest Destiny... which in honest terms means: (1) the forced Indian removals (2) the countless massacres of Native Americans (3) the federal government violating the hundreds of treaties it signed with the tribal nations (4) the Three-Fifths Compromise (5) the 188 years of denying minorities rights and equality to white people (6) the 89 years of legalized slavery (7) the 148 years of denying Native Americans U.S. citizenship and (8) the 202 years of denying Native Americans religious freedom.

The United States of America was founded upon perpetuated lies and stolen tribal lands. Attempted genocide, legalized slavery, massive land theft, the belief in racial supremacy of white men, racism and discrimination against minorities is what this country was founded upon. It's nothing more than a disingenuous farce to claim that America was founded upon freedom, liberty and justice for all.

To quote Martin Luther King: "Our nation was born in genocide when it embraced the doctrine that the original American, the Indian, was an inferior race. Even before there were large numbers of Negroes on our shores, the scar of racial hatred had already disfigured colonial society. From the sixteenth century forward, blood flowed in battles of racial supremacy. We are perhaps the only nation which tried as a matter of national policy to wipe out its Indigenous population. Moreover, we elevated that tragic experience into a noble crusade. Indeed, even today we have not permitted ourselves to reject or feel remorse for this shameful episode. Our literature, our films, our drama, our folklore all exalt it."
