  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No one who Loves God believes their flesh is as good as God’s.

A seared conscience can be the only cause of such a claim... to fleshly Righteousness that is sinlessly perfect.
The reborn's flesh is of God, of His seed, and incapable of bearing evil fruit. (1 John 3:9)

The evil fruit is lies, lack of mercy, back biting, Pride, deciept!

Only God is GOOD!

Yep, among other things.
It still amazes me that the truth that freed me from service to sin has freed me from the above too!

Only God is GOOD!
But those in Him aren't?
That makes no sense.

God is Holy, we are not.

God is our atonement... we are not!
No one (Jesus doesn't count) has ever been holy, not from Adam down to the present. We're saved in SPITE of our unrighteousness. We're cloaked in the righteousness of Christ: We have no righteousness of our own. We are wholly incapable of following the Commandments, whether those of Moses or of Christ. That's why we need a savior If we could achieve salvation by obeying the Law, we would have no need of Christ.

That's the story of life without being reborn.

This is the litmus test! This is the correct speak! For doctrine to declare one sinless before Mankind... in a human being’s literal tent of death... it is teaching its adherents to receive their reward as the praise of men... and seeking to seduce others into that pride!

It is a seduction of making Ishmael!

What you have said, has been said correctly!

The truth is, even after being born again, a Christian will still sin every second of every day for the rest of their lives, with every breath they take. Anything that isn't done out of pure love for God is a damnable sin. Every breath a Christian takes is a damnable sin! No one not named Jesus Christ has EVER been able to do anything out of a pure love of God. The difference is that a Christian has his damnable sins cloaked in the righteousness of Christ, while a non-believer does not. Our sin is covered by Christ like a dungheap is covered by snow.

It seems you can see that sanctification means "cleanse", and the verse above shows it was already done.

I believe justification is the cleansing of all sin, and it is at that point that God sets us, His cleansed vessel, apart for good works, sanctification. The progression of good works is the glorification.

5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love....

10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I never said anything about giving yourself permission in committing willful sexual sin or weaning yourself off of committing willful sexual sin gradually or turning the grace of God into licentiousness. That is a straw man argument.

I didn't mean you, individually, so please forgive me. I was addressing the twisted doctrine that has infiltrated the church for the past few hundred years. What I wrote was against Luther, when he made people believe they haven't been sanctified completely, thereby justifying their own sin by dwelling on the temptation, rather than the way of escape, saying that they will always sin in this lifetime as Luther and Calvin declared.

Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness. (1 John 1:8-10)

God can save any soul from any sin under the Sun... except for that one!

To be blunt.

Yes, who needs Jesus to cleanse ALL your sin, when you have no sin to begin with.

1 John 1:8 - self righteous man
1 John 1:9 - how to truly be made righteous - Jesus

Jesus changes us from slaves of sin to slaves of righteousness; and sons, not sinners. John 8:34-36; Romans 6. The misinterpretation of John in these verses has been used for centuries by Reformationists to proclaim the lie that we will always be sinners - not heirs of God. This demeans the power of the blood shed by Jesus. Don't let the author of lies win. Pluck this lie from your minds, and reckon in your mind that you are dead to sin, and walk in this truth.

Oh, my “Old Man” is indeed buried... but to be sincere... he stinks so bad in the decomposition... I know my place.

John wasn’t a reformer. The verse is in direct accusative, audience intended present tense. John opens his message up with that in mind.

How is that verse false?

John reiterates the same message in 1 John 1:10

He states it twice... (1 John 1:8-10) ..the repentance is emphasized and encapsulated in between the perpetual need to acknowledge that we still have sin. It is a call to perpetual repentance to be freed from sin.

It is a permanent “Change Of Mind”, that no longer believes in self sufficiency.

How is it false?

Amen to that.

There are no holy sinners.
Pick a team!
You can't play both sides of the net.

"Considered clean"?
Then you have introduced sin into the body of Christ.
Paul also introduced sin, weakness, into the Body of Christ, but the function of the Body is to be the atonement, kaporeth, the sin covering!

2 Corinthians 12
7Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!8Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Isn't it a bit of a dichotomy when verse 9 says we are cleansed of all sin, to go and say you still have sin? Did Jesus lie?
