The U.S. hasn't "meddled" in Iran since 1979.

That would be the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, to which all declared nuclear powers are signatories along with Iran.

Before you start lecturing me or arguing against a straw American, you might want to ask me about my opinions regarding Trump and his "policies" toward Iran viz. the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

And I'll just leave this photo as a hint.
View attachment 256913

Nice picture, my father did not yet have a family when he was there, if he did I’m sure that there would have been a lot more pictures of his time there.

But keeping with my rational serious side…

I would trust the opinions and actions of the most popular elected President of all time and his millions of loyal followers to know more about the situation in Iran than the Deep State infiltrated CIA and Military advisers. As a Marine, my daughter is ready to have the opportunity to die for her Leader and Country and is looking forward to a long drawn bloody war in the Persian Gulf again.

If this was about all those other issues....I'd agree.

I just don't know enough about this issue to say what is wrong.

What we do know is that Donald has tried this tactic with North Korea... and ended up with egg on his face.

And we know that, regardless of whether or not you believe Donald has a room temperature I.Q., he's not big on learning from his mistakes.

He may still think he won that bout and Kim just hasn't realized it yet.

Blame the Ayatollahs for a change, they are the ones that continue to foment hostilities worldwide.
World peace isn't free...neither is a nation's freedom. It's cost is usually in battlefield blood and is more reason to thank a soldier.
Lest we forget how the Ayatollahs developed a base of support....

1953, the CIA led a coup against Mossadegh--Operation AJAX--and eventually overthrew the leader, as well as the promise of Iranian democracy. The Shah Of Iran re-assumed its control, the West had its predictable oil supply and cozy relations with Iran,

We are, right now, actively engaged in the longest running armed conflict in our nation's history. We have been at war for a very long time.

I think his entire shtick is designed to ensure that no one sees him as predictable. I think he's pulled that off masterfully. The only thing I feel I can predict about him is the likelihood that he will spew profoundly stupid, insulting, and disrespectful things on Twitter at basically anyone or everyone as the mood strikes him.

It would be utter folly to go after the Iranians for threatening America. Complete and utter folly.

Everything that happened in the past related to this question is superfluous. We should not be engaging in armed conflict with Iran.

We would so defeat Iran in a war. Two months tops.
Two months? Think two hours. Just chuck a few nukes on the cities and the country will be gone, and there will be no negative repercussions!

No, we need to defeat them with our overwhelming military might and then have a glorious victory parade with our President in the lead in the smoldering ruins.

Don't forget the happily freed civilians waving at him from the sidelines.

I know you and Nithavela are just playing Poe-minton, but I do want to mention something.

No country ever really likes the armed troops of another country in their borders, not even as "liberators." They may have to accept it, but they never really like it.

We have one scene from WWII of Parisians wildly cheering American troops upon the liberation of Paris from the Nazis, and that scene is embedded in the American psyche as how Americans are always welcomed and greeted.

But in fact, the American generals in France knew better. So they put General DeGaulle and his French troops at the head of the military parade into Paris. The American forces followed the French.

So it's really their own forces that the Parisians were wildly cheering, believing that DeGaulle was the leader of all the liberating Allies.

We rolled over Afghanistan and Iraq. They are still shooting fireworks in celebration!

I'm sure they can drag up the corpse of the Sha from some hole and put it front and centre.

Yeah....as I already stated, if this were N Korea that was the topic, I'd agree.

It isn't though, and while I gladly agree that as far as president's go....he's very incompetent and a liar.

The problem I see is that people, particularly on the left, understand that he's incompetent so they assume that he's automatically wrong about everything.

Take the crisis at the border for example. He says there's a crisis....and the left just assumes there isn't. Now mayors, governors, and basically every official on the border are declaring emergencies. ...practically begging for help. What's the response from the left? Basically silence or disbelief.

That's a huge mistake that a lot of people will remember when it's time to vote. They tried to get help....and the left basically sat on their hands and pretended nothing was happening.

Well, he's certainly wrong if he thinks the tactics which failed him in North Korea are going to work in Iran... especially if one considers that everyone saw him fail in North Korea... including Iran.

Take the crisis at the border for example. He says there's a crisis....and the left just assumes there isn't. Now mayors, governors, and basically every official on the border are declaring emergencies. ...practically begging for help. What's the response from the left? Basically silence or disbelief.

Noting that nobody was allegedly "begging" for help until after Donald's policies were enacted. Could it be a response to his own incompetence?

Does Donald get an "attaboy" for being right about a "crisis" that he either he caused or made worse?

That's a huge mistake that a lot of people will remember when it's time to vote. They tried to get help....and the left basically sat on their hands and pretended nothing was happening.

Indeed... everyone will blame the left... Donald shall remain blameless and sinless.

He is buried in a grave in Egypt. We could exhume him, put him back on the Peacock Throne after we liberate the country, and things will return to just how they were in the good old days.
