I have a question. I have just heard that there is a claim that the massacre in Sri Lanka was revenge for the massacre in Christchurch NZ.

What I don't understand is why the revenge was done against Christian churches and members, when the killer of Muslims in Christchurch was an atheist white supremacist. In fact the Christians in Christchurch and around New Zealand stood in love, sympathy and support for the families of the victims.

Also, I don't understand why the revenge was carried out in Sri Lanka where there no white supremacists were present or targeted at all.

Why do I believe that the Jihadis used the Christchurch massacre of Muslims as an opportunity to kill a few more Christians? I could understand them blowing up a gathering of white supremacists in either England or Australia, but why Sri Lanka if it wasn't just to kill defenceless Christians in a country not even connected to white supremacism?

I don't think it should come as a surprise that people willing to kill hundreds of worshippers don't have the most logical thought patterns.

In this case, it was just a terror group using Christchurch to stir up hatred for their own goals. Pure opportunism.

Why Sri Lanka? Religious violence is traditional there, mostly between Buddhists and Muslims. By attacking the christians, they are propably trying to get the Buddhists to attack the muslims to stir up even more hate.

Because they are liars and monsters.

This attack has been in planning for months or years, they just used Christchurch as a headline grabbing trick to boost their recruiting efforts.

This information you accumulated was via witch mainstream media outlet?
I was watching our 6pm news on our Television One channel which included a video clip of a Sri Lankan official telling the reporter that a statement had been made that it was revenge for the shooting in Christchurch.

Sri Lankan official telling the reporter that a statement had been made that it was revenge for the shooting in Christchurch.

Perhaps such statement had been made by terrorists to justify the attack or Sri Lankan official was just trying to spread the blame around a bit to distract from their [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] poor performance of preventing of this attack.

Plenty of motives. Whomever or if anyone is actually speaking the truth is unknown.

It's just a claim, that's all. ISIS and extremists groups can claim whatever they want. The Christchurch Massacre was only used out of convenience. As someone already pointed out, a sophisticated attack like this takes a long time to put together. There needs to be financing, discrete purchase of materials, time to radicalize and train enough people to carry out such a large scale coordinated attack and to scout out the targets. It took many months at a minimum. The mosque attacks in Christchurch were just a few weeks ago. .

What I don't understand is why the revenge was done against Christian churches and members, when the killer of Muslims in Christchurch was an atheist white supremacist.
The shooter in New Zealand when asked if he was a Christian, answered with "it's complicated." If you were to ask someone if they were in a relationship and they answered you with "it's complicated," that is the same as saying "yes, but..." He then went on to use reverences to God etc... Chances are he identified as a Christian. Whether or not he was a Christian is not important as many non-Christians would see him as being one either way.

Unfortunately a lot of Muslims and other non-Christians in the world equate white supremacy with Christianity. This is because of the way white European countries colonized much of their lands in the past and the way they were treated during the time they lived under colonization. In many cases Christianity came with the sword, and while this occurred in the past, the impression this left still lingers.

It also doesn't help when countries today with predominantly Christian populations have leaders who are against immigration, put restrictions on Muslims, or where a large percentage of the population shows bigotry and hatred towards immigrants and Muslims.

Just as many non-Muslims think this picture represents Islam:
aaaaaaakkk2.jpg

Many non-Christians in the world, including many Muslims, equate these pictures with Christianity:
aaaaaaakkk.jpg

Both of these views are out of ignorance of what these religions teach and what their followers believe, and extremists from both sides exploit this ignorance to further their agendas.

In fact the Christians in Christchurch and around New Zealand stood in love, sympathy and support for the families of the victims.
Just as Muslims have in Paris, Barcelona, and other parts of the world where terror attacks have targeted non-Muslims and how Christians have done when Muslims are the victims. Muslims and Christians are in solidarity with one another throughout the world. This solidarity is what terrorists are trying to destroy.

In Sri Lanka Muslims and Christians are the minority and have suffered persecution at the hands of the Majority Buddhists and even from the Hindus. Muslims and Christians have both been victims and can relate to each other in Sri Lanka and relationships between the two are strong. This attack was designed to put a wedge between that relationship and to cause discord. The attack is also an attempt to revive the secular violence in that country. It had only been a decade since peace had been achieved following a three decade civil war. If this terror group can manage to destabilize Sri Lanka, then extremism can thrive and they can become a strong force in that country. ISIS exploiting the civil war in Syria would be a good example of how this works.

Without conflict, chaos, and a large number of disenfranchised/marginalized people, terrorists groups can't grow.

Exactly. These foul creatures think it right and proper to murder anyone - anyone at all - who does not share their perverted view of Islam. They would regard the Muslims of Christchurch as apostates, worthy only of death.

Someone on Facebook suggested that the Sir Lankan minister made the statement to cover their rear ends because of the security lapses that enabled the attacks to take place.

They'll pick the most convenient target that represents what they believe is repulsive, disgusting and evil in nature. When a mind starts down the road and is intently focused with repulsion and disgust, it begins to start warping how they see other people. Soon black persons are labeled as white supremacists and Jews are accused of being Nazis.

I could understand them blowing up a gathering of white supremacists in either England or Australia, but why Sri Lanka if it wasn't just to kill defenceless Christians in a country not even connected to white supremacism?

They probably had resources and infrastructure in place and ready to go in Sri Lanka or nearby. ChristChurch massacre handed them an excuse or justification to do something they were preparing to do, Easter made it a great target. This is probably what the white supremacists at the ChristChurch massacre wanted, to 'get the ball rolling'. Sri Lanka was just a target of opportunity that matched their infrastructure of people and resources, probably low risk of being blocked. Good opportunity for high kill rate.

Now the supremacists (or possibly other groups) will in turn hate/plan/respond with their own excuse/justification. And they will execute where they have resources, low risk of being blocked, good opportunity for high kill rate.

And so it goes, and so it goes...
People are just like dominoes

Well, most of them anyway ;)

It's always sick people killing innocent people. Muslims Killing Christians or Christians killing Muslims is the same. It's innocent people dying on both sides. People need to know killing innocent people will only do them harm

I guess you haven't paid attention Muslims have been doing this for years. Don't you remember the stories about Muslims rioting about a cartoon of Mohammed? Many of the riots took place many miles away in a different countries than where cartoons were published. It should not be surprising, Islam is a religion of war, and this kind of thing is useful for motivating the subjugation of the infidels.

As you can note by church history any religious organisation that has the intention of controlling the world will use warfare and conquest to subdue those who oppose it. History shows us that in the 1000 years since AD 650, more innocent men, women and children were tortured and slaughtered by a religious organisation that controlled the known world, than all those put to death by all the Roman Emperors up to Constantine.

I think that there are divisions among Muslims the same way that there are divisions among Christianity. There are the fundamentalists and the moderates. In my view, there is no difference between fundamentalist Catholic, Muslim, or Mormon organisations whose ideal is to control the whole world if they could, and they would not hesitate to do it by warfare and conquest if they were given the chance and the resources.

This is going to happen when the Antichrist appears and unites all religions into a world religion and will combine that with a world government, and those who will not accept the mark of the beast will be put to death. World events are leading up to it. There is already moves to eventually unite the RCC with Islam, through the Pope's statement that "we are all one under God". And there are moves among Evangelical groups to have greater unity with the RCC. Once the time is right, we will see all religions unite into one and the one-world government will be formed, and then we will know that we will definitely be in the last days before Christ returns.

Oscar, I think your greatly soft shoeing the differences between the old RC and imperial Christianity and Islam. While Christian Kings and popes etc. has used violence at times there is no comparison between the two in terms of both quantity and ideology, and that is even more true by several multiple times when religion is actually invoked as a rationale for war and violence. Christianity may have a "just war" concept but does not have war fare as a formal tenet of its propagation like Islam. In Christianity you are saved by Jesus, and on certain occasions you may need to martyred. In Islam the quickest pathway to salvation comes from martyrdom aka being killed in Jihad, that gives you an instant path to salvation (which would otherwise be tenuous) but also allows for you to intercede for 70 of your relatives.

This video also shows a vast difference between the Crusades and Jihad.

I hesitate to enter too much into a debate about this because of the nature of your denominational affillation and your personal faith. I don't want to appear to be demeaning Orthodox (Eastern or Oriental) Christianity, and I draw a definite distinction between it and Roman Catholicism.

The popular view of the Crusades is that it was the just war between Christians and Muslims. They were not made to suppress Islam at all. It was because the pope at the time wanted to have Jerusalem as the symbol of Roman Catholic control over the world, and to make the city entirely Roman Catholic. To achieve that Jerusalem had to be entirely made up of Roman Catholics, and this is why as many Jews and Muslims in that city as possible were eliminated. They were given the demand to convert to Roman Catholicism or die. Many died.

So, although the religiosity of Islam is very different from Roman Catholicism, the spirit that drove the Crusaders in Palestine and Southern France was exactly the same as the Jihadists - domination - accept our religion or die.

From my understanding no such desire for world domination existed with the Patriarchs of the Orthodox church that separated from the Roman Catholic church during the Great Schism. I understand that the Orthodox church has Christ as their supreme Head, rather than the Pope of the RCC.

If this is true, then how do you explain why better than 99.99% of the more than 1.6 billion Muslims in the world aren't engaging in violent jihad? It seems if this is what Islam taught, you would see at least 1% of the followers of this religion doing so.

This video also shows a vast difference between the Crusades and Jihad.
In addition to this video being incredibly inaccurate historically, it also doesn't mention the many Christian explorers who committed atrocities and killed millions while establishing new territories and "Christianizing" the native populations in North and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands; the Spanish inquisitions, the United States and Manifest destiny.

It's because those Muslims follow their better instincts, thank God!
