Verbal contracts are binding as well as written ones. But harder to enforce.
Law is the culmination of formalized morality.

Morality includes unwritten law as well and that which is codified in local law.

It's not moral to eat dinner for free in the grocery store.
But tasting the grapes is requested by management.
So not all law is in writing and agreed upon by majority vote.
As I was saying, the written code does not work well.
You said we follow mans law, but there is no law against me lying to you. But whats God say? Can you answer that question please?

There is the law the Holy Spirit has written in your heart. You might be a pedophile looking for a hookup. There are laws against you communicating with me as a minor. There are plenty of written laws protecting me as a minor from your lying ways trying to get into my pants. I think the forum has some rules about self identification and honesty. God says to obey local law, even the local law in your heart, not yet voted on in your municipality.

But lets say that you think sex offenders should not live in your house. Yet you continue to live there. You can vote to have the law changed and you'll have to move and obey the law.

Forget the forums, in the world i can lie to you without breaking mans law. But whats God say about lying? Do you know what the scriptures say about lying?

If you think you know what is right in your heart, yet fail to do it, it is sin.

If you treat other people in ways you would not want them to treat you, it is sin.

No, thats not what scriptures say about lying.

Sure does:

Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

Ephesians 4:25
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Colossians 3:9-10
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

Luke 8:17
For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

Exodus 20:16
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Proverbs 19:5 s
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.

Proverbs 24:28
Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.

James 3:14
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth

James 1:26
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

If you think you know what is right in your heart, yet fail to do it, it is sin.

But those scriptures are not what you posted.

Sometimes I make up sentences that are not direct scripture quotes. It happens. Other people translate the scriptures into readable english as well.

New International Version
If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.

New Living Translation
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

English Standard Version
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Berean Study Bible
Therefore, whoever knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.

Berean Literal Bible
Therefore to the one knowing to do good, and not doing, it is sin.

New American Standard Bible
Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.

King James Bible
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Christian Standard Bible
So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it.

Contemporary English Version
If you don't do what you know is right, you have sinned.

Um...me thinks telling the truth is the right thing to do.
Ok, I'll put the two things together:

Ephesians 4:25
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

New International Version
If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.

And there are exceptions. One time I deceived someone and gained their confidence, and possible saved their life. I am always happy I deceived that little girl. She contacted me from the hospital. God is not a legalist. God sees the heart.

Why are you quoting Gods law instead of mans law? You said Gods law is replaced by mans law. (Note that when i refer to Gods law im referring to the law of Christ, and that to me is the commands of the Lord and His apostles)

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Romans 3:21

ROMANS 3:31 31, Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish the law.

Grace is a gift while the Law is earning. Knowledge of good and evil is the Tree of knowledge(The Law) in Eden. Adam and Eve(Jews) ate the fruit of that tree and were cast out of paradise and could never return. Adam's curse was to work the soil, which is man's works. (Judaism)

The Tree of Life is Jesus Christ. The Garden of Eden is righteousness, God's rest. (Grace)

Hello brother Yarddog, why is the law earning? If God's LOVE is expressed through his LAW then is you LOVE someone are you doing something because of earning or because you love them? Thanks for sharing your thoughts brother

God bless

Love is a fruit of the saved, not a work to be saved

Would it be better said that OBEDIENCE is the FRUIT of FAITH that works by LOVE *ROMANS 13:8-10; JAMES 2:18-20; 26; 1 JOHN 5:4; 1 JOHN 3:6-9; 1 JOHN 2:3-4.

God bless

They are behaviours that the Christian needs to attend to we are not mockers and brawlers, we don't steal or lie. Because the Spirit of God lives in us. But the moment we try to "get more saved with works" we will fall deeper into sin. 1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law...

Does anyone have God's Spirit while knowingly breaking any one of God's Commandments *1 JOHN 2:3-4; HEBREWS 10:26-27?

Hello brother Blade. Welcome, some comments for your consideration below.
GRACE IS FOR OBEDIENCE ...never seen it like that.. I Like "By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:"

When one uses the word "law".. need to explain more. Well the law of Moses? I think your talking about Gods moral law.. the 10 commandments.. yet some Jewish people read 15.. some only 9.. yet all are in just 2. Keep those.. and you have kept all.

Indeed brother

Should be easy to see.. when He says.. "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:" Grace..Gods unmerited favor. Which is used 170 times in the NT. For me.. never has He said shown me in any way its for obedience.

How do you read these scriptures together brother?

ROMANS 1:5 By whom we have received GRACE and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations, for his name.

TITUS 2:11-12 [11], FOR THE GRACE OF GOD HAS APPEARED BRINGING SALVATION TO ALL MEN, [12], TEACHING US, THAT, DENYING UNGODLINESS AND WORLDLY JUSTS, WE SHOULD LIVE SOBERLY, RIGHTOUESLY AND GODLY IN THIS PRESENT WORLD

ROMANS 6:1-2, [1] What shall we say then? SHALL WE SIN [break any one of God's 10 commandments], THAT GRACE MAY ABOUND? God forbid. [2], How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

God's GRACE is made perfect in our weakness..

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 And he said to me, MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU: FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME.

1 PETER 1:5-6 [5], WHO ARE KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH FAITH READY TO BE REVEALED IN THE LAST DAYS. [6], Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations

REVELATION 14:12 HERE IS THE PATIANTS OF THE SAINT HERE ARE THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD AND THE FAITH OF JESUS.

God's GRACE IS FOR OBEDIENCE to BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD'S WORD.

Thanks for sharing brother.

I think you have to go back to the beginning when there was only one law. Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Note that this is the "knowledge" of what already exists , good and evil, but without Adam and Eve's knowledge of it.
Now grace existed before the first sin. God made us with His Grace and in His image. After all, Grace means , favor, blessing, or even kindness, so God had this relationship with Adam and Eve from the beginning. He favored them over the plants and animals, He blessed them by giving them not only a paradise to live in but also a relationship with Him and His kindness abounded. So in other words from the beginning grace was given then Adam and Eve fell from Grace and now we have it back through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. "The Law" technically has nothing to do with it as it was not God's wish that man be under the law but His wish that man be under His Grace.

Hi Maria nice to see you and thanks for your post and thoughts. The only problem is that sin did enter the world and thanks to God's GRACE he has a plan of salvation to redeem us from sin and it's penalty so God's LAW (10 Commandments) does have a part to play in God's GRACE. What part do you think God's LAW plays in God's GRACE? Thanks for sharing your thoughts Maria.

God bless.

Not read Romans YET?

Romans 7:1-25
Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress. Likewise, my brothers, you also have
died to the law
through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

Happy to discuss ROMANS 7 if you like brother. In what you have posted however you still have not answered the questions asked of you which were.

What is GRACE for?

How can you have God's GRACE without God's LAW?

In regards to ROMANS 7:6 What is it that we are to die to that has bound us?

How can you have a GRACE without God's LAW (10 commandments) when it is God's LAW that leads to GRACE?

What are the OLD and NEW COVENANTS made up of?

God bless.
