Hello all. Thought this would be an interesting topic for discussion. How can you have God's GRACE if there is not LAW that gives us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL? If we do not KNOW that we are all sinners how can we see our need of a Saviour?

According to God's WORD, ALL those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. We are all sick with sin and need a Physician *MATTHEW 9:12-13. If we do not know we are sick why would we seek a physician?

The scriptures teach us that GOD'S LAW (10 Commandment) gives us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN AND RIGHTOUESNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. God's 10 commandments give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken and lead us to CHRIST that we might be forgiven by faith. WHAT IS GRACE FOR?

If there were no Law there would be no sin. If there were no sin there would be no need of Grace. So without Law there is no need of Grace. This begs the question. Is gaining knowledge of the Law original sin? Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge which they were forbidden to eat from. Was their sin disobeying God while still innocent and ignorant of Law or were they already to some degree familiar with Law having been forbidden to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge?

Hi brother GAW, nice to meet you. Good post. It is indeed God's LAW that leads us to God's Grace. As you have rightly pointed out if we have no knowledge of What SIN is then we have no need of a Saviour. As to ADAM and EVE? Before they sinned they were in perfect harmony with God and his LAW so did not need any knowledge of it. It is indeed disobedience to God's WORD that is sin. ADAM and EVE knew not to disobey God in regards to the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL. In the day they would do so God told them they would lose eternal life. The wages of SIN (breaking God's LAW) is death to all those who reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. What do you think GRACE is for?

Thanks for sharing yout thoughts brother.

    God bless.

The new covenant of grace replaces the Old Covenant of law which is obsolete.

    Hebrews 8:13
In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete.
And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

To teach us that we must deny ungodly lusts and live soberly and righteously in this world.

That's not even related to grace.

So grace is favor, "unmerited favor." Salvation by Grace. Grace is, therefore, God's unmerited favor - His goodness toward those who have no claim on, nor reason to expect, divine favor. The principal manifestation of God's grace has been in the form of a gift.

How can you have a GRACE without God's LAW (10 commandments) when it is God's LAW that leads to GRACE? What are the OLD and NEW COVENANTS? If you do not KNOW what the OLD COVENANT is how can you know what the NEW COVENANT is that the OLD COVENANT points to?

    Romans 7:6
But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the Law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Did you read the Op yet? That guy said to back everything with scripture.
Oh, and be friendly while your at it. ....he said.

    Jeremiah 31:31
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

    Luke 22:20
In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

    Matthew 26:28
This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

    Exodus 24:8
So Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."

    Hebrews 8:6
Now, however, Jesus has received a much more excellent ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is better and is founded on better promises.

    John 6:63
The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

    Romans 2:29
No, a man is a Jew because he is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise does not come from men, but from God.

    Romans 7:6
But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the Law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

    1 Corinthians 11:25
In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

    2 Corinthians 3:3
It is clear that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

    2 Corinthians 3:14
But their minds were closed. For to this day the same veil remains at the reading of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed.

    Hebrews 8:8
But God found fault with the people and said: "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

    Hebrews 9:15
Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

    Hebrews 8:13
By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! 16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin [j]resulting in death, or of obedience [k]resulting in righteousness?

Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves [e]his neighbor has fulfilled the law. 9 For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love [f]does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
