  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If this is meaning the harlot though, and if the harlot is meaning Jerusalem in 70 AD, why is it that the following is not true then----and shall be found no more at all?

But it is true.
Demonstrably so.

Great info parousia 70 [love the username ]

I had read that music and musicians were banned from OC Judaism after the destruction of Jerusalem.
Btw, are there any Levites left?

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
History records few events more generally interesting than the destruction of Jerusalem, and the subversion of the Jewish state, by the arms of the Romans. --
Their intimate connexion with the dissolution of the Levitical economy, and the establishment of Christianity in the world ;
the striking verification which they afford of so many of the prophecies, both of the Old and New Testament, and the powerful arguments of the divine authority of the Scriptures which are thence derived ; the solemn warnings and admonitions which they hold out to all nations, but especially such as are favoured with the light and blessings of REVELATION....

Ezekiel 26:13 -
‘I will put an end to the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps shall be heard no more.

Revelation 18:22 -
The music of harpists and musicians, pipers and trumpeters
, will never be heard in you again.
No worker of any trade will ever be found in you again.
The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.

It appears the Levites were also musicians.

1Ch 15:16
David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.
2Sa 6:5 -
Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals.
Ezr 2:70 -
The priests, the Levites, the musicians, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.

History of religious Jewish music - Wikipedia
After the destruction of the Temple and the subsequent diaspora of the Jewish people, there was a feeling of great loss among the people. At the time, a consensus developed that all music and singing would be banned; this was codified as a rule by some early Jewish rabbinic authorities.

Revelation 18:22 -
The music of harpists and musicians, pipers and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No worker of any trade will ever be found in you again.
The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.

In the Olivet Discourse, it shows 2 women grinding at the mill [supposedly before 70ad]

Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke's Temple/Jerusalem Discourses harmonized

Matthew 24:41 -
“Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
Luke 17:35 -
“Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left.

Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke's Temple/Jerusalem Discourses harmonized

Matthew 24:16
then those in Judea let them be fleeing! into the mountains;

Mark 13:14
..........then those in the Judea, let them be fleeing into the mountains

Luke 21:21
then those in Judea, let them be fleeing into the mountains;
and those in her midst, let them depart out; and those in the countries, let them not come in to her;

So let 'em have their Temple..........If anything, it will at least be a great tourist attraction.....

That aside, there are a plethora of threads on that topic....

3rd temple built christianforums site:www.christianforums.com - Google Search

Why There Will Be No Third Temple!!!

This being Passover, I feel this is the perfect time to focus on why just as Jesus fulfilled the Passover, He fulfilled the temple too!

Many that hold that there will be a 3rd temple are hard pressed to justify that from scripture.

They lean quite heavily on Ezekiel 40-48. A temple that is in a vision to Ezekiel, in which Ezekiel is escorted by "a man" with a rod.

When it comes to the NT the temple fades away. This starts with Jesus declaring Himself to be the temple. Jesus makes this declaration in Matthew 12:6 as He confronts the Phariseees:

That is sufficient to start this discussion of why there will be no third temple!!!

The point still is, you try and deceive someone not already deceived, and not someone already deceived. Genesis 3 proves that point. Eve wasn't already deceived when the serpent initially tempted her. She became deceived by his tempting of her.

The point of the false prophets, etc, in the Discourse, is to try and lead those away from the truth that already know the truth. It connects with the falling away in 2 Thessalonians 2.

I'll have to disagree with that.

Repeatedly, Scripture indicates that one opens oneself up to an outside deception to the degree that they themselves have left themselves open to being deceived prior to the influence of said deception.

In fact, James, one of the very subjects of these two posts between you and I, just now, repeatedly warns of this in his epistle to those Twelve Tribes scattered abroad. For they were then facing Paul's/The Sanhedrin's pressure to conform to Unbelieving Israel's self-deceived assertion that Jesus had not been their Christ. It had thus been needful to remind them of principles like the following...

Matthew 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

And so on...

Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

The Only Israel God kept His word to is Jesus, His Jewish followers, and Gentile believers grafted into that one covenant nation.

(Edit - He also kept his word to the Wicked sons of Abraham here in Acts 3:22-23):

22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

Since you are preaching against this truth, Why do you believe God failed to fulfill His word to Israel in Acts 3:22-23?

If 70AD was that destruction, it was not a very good one - for most of them have continued to not hear that Prophet.

Fact is, Israel's Prophesied Wrath prior to His Blessing them, Acts 3...was delayed, Romans 9-11; 2 Peter 3, etc.

1st off you are drawing an incorrect conclusion. Secondly, when the Temple is built what will the excuses be then?

This is an interesting perspective. Let me think on it a bit before I try and respond to this post.

Some other thoughts - so what became of those that James was writing to?

Eventually, they simply died off, not having receiving their promise (until their resurrection).

In other words, they were Messianic, Law keeping Jews, Matt. 23:1,2, Acts 21:20, etc.

In contrast to those formerly lost Jews and Gentiles saved into the Body through Paul's ministry, Acts 21:21, after Paul was saved and commissioned, Acts 9:15, etc.

Question: If those Messianic Jews were not keeping the Law, as reminded to in Matt. 23:1,2, then why was the need to both require that Gentiles submit to Circumcision and keep the Law, even brought up, to begin with, Acts 15?

In this, I find today's Messianic Movement fascinating.

They rightly discern that those Believers of that assembly at Pentecost in Jerusalem had been Law keeping Messianics.

Plenty of the passages show that to be the case.

Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither ON THE SABBATH DAY: 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Leviticus 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh SABBATH shall ye number FIFTY days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

A reference to THEIR Feast of Pentecost, under THEIR Law...

Acts 1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem A SABBATH DAY's journey.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And so on, the witness of this is there...

At the same time, today's Messianics fail to discern that all that and its Prophesied hope, was put on hold, Romans 9-11, 2 Peter 3.

They fail to note that starting with Paul, both lost Jews and Gentiles had to come to Christ as Gentiles, Romans 4, Galatians 3.

Which is still the case today.

Meaning that today's Messianics are sort of like Apollos, in Acts l8, in their case, they only know Pentecost, they do not recognize that things changed with God's saving Paul and sending him to both without distinction.

For actually, they are in the Body, having been saved this side of Paul.

The result being that their rapidly growing group in Israel (they now number in the thousands, in Israel, alone) will have left a sizable witness of Christ to Unbelieving Israelites left behind upon the Body's catching away, prior to Israel's Prophesied Day of Wrath, followed by their Prophesied Blessing, Isaiah 66; Romans 11:25-29, etc.

There is only one Jew that ever kept the law.

He is found in Matthew 1:1, and Galatians 3:16.

When? After what?

Isaiah 66:10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 66:11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. 66:12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 66:13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 66:14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. 66:15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 66:16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. 66:17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. 66:18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. 66:19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. 66:20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. 66:21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Describe how Isaiah 66 will happen.

"As it is written..."

Or, Isaiah 60 - first gross darkness (Great Day of His Wrath), then the Lord's return unto Israel, then their witness among the Gentiles...

Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

As Paul indicates in Romans 15, that had been the intent.

But as he indicates in Romans 9, said Wrath has been delayed, until at some point after the fullness of the Gentiles be come in, that interrupted it with a direct, Gentile salvation, Romans 11; 2 Peter 3.

There's no shame in admitting that you don't know.

But I was disappointed that you couldn't explain Jerusalem's breasts.
