What is exactly and specifically "wrong" with operating under the Old Covenant...?

What is exactly and specifically "wrong" with operating under the Old Covenant...?

What's the "harm" in it...?

And is it scripturally "wrong"...?

And, if it is, "why" (is that)...? (please provide scriptures if you like)... (or IYOW's if you like)...

And, what about people who might think they are operating under the NC, but are not totally, but are attempting some kind of "mix" or mixture of the two...?

Is there any "harm" in that...? And if so, how or why...?

And, lastly, are they really "Christians" if they are doing this, or not...?

Comments...?

God Bless!

As long as you truly believe Jesus died on the cross for you and is the son of God then its ok to live under any covenant. But after the spirit of God converts you then you will live for God and Jesus and not any old covenant.

I've always found the OT supporting scripture very encouraging.
That was, until I found these: (Edit:I just read that last one for the first time. Wow.)

Hebrews 8
12 For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”
13 By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first one obsolete;
and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

Luke 22:20
In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

2 Corinthians 3:6
And He has qualified us as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

Hebrews 1:11
They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.

Hebrews 7:22
Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

Hebrews 8:6
Now, however, Jesus has received a much more excellent ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is better and is founded on better promises.

Hebrews 8:8
But God found fault with the people and said: "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

Hebrews 9:15
Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Hebrews 12:24
to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Could you clarify your understanding (Belief) of the word Operating?
Going by, basically... living under, or trying hard (and maybe exerting themselves to a great degree, lot's of self-effort and self-will) to live under or by...

God Bless!

So are you saying it's OK temporarily, or at the start, but as one moves toward maturity, they will or should (perhaps have to) give it up, in time, basically...? Or what...?

And you think there is absolutely nothing "wrong" with it at all...? And it does "no harm whatsoever" at all, or what...?

God Bless!

Paul said this about those Jews that wanted to return to living under the Old Covenant.

Heb.10:38,39
38) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

I am saying after you are converted by the spirit of God you will start to follow Jesus and no convenient. A lot of people still follow the old ways and they miss that after you are converted you start to want to follow only Jesus as he is the only way.

That's why we call it a conversion.

After we get "this issue" settled, then, after that, we can then try to tackle the issue of sin, but not "until then" or after that, I think...

Why would anyone want to live by the law when Jesus offers grace?

Can you keep the law perfectly? If you break one you break them al. No one in history has ever been able to do it. That's why Jesus came. It's impossible for us to save ourselves. Salvation through grace not works.

And from that point we can move on to the issue of sin...

The problem is everyone is not on the "same page" (yet) and we need to be before we can even begin (to do that) really...

Does one have to start and begin in the Old Way...? Is that what you are saying...?

Till one gets "converted"...?

Or can one simply begin the New Way, without or before or without or not ever even having the Old...? Or what...?

If so, if one has to have the Old Way first, then what is the (true) purpose and point of the Old Way...? And then, as already asked, can it be "skipped" basically...? or not...?

God Bless!

There is no harm in it as long as you don't break the laws of the times and get in trouble for it like killing sacrificed animals.
