The injunction against graven images relates to idols. There are some pretty huge differences between idols and, say, icons. No one has to read minds, they can see for themselves Catholics bowing down to the statues/graven images, and praying. How is that not both the things covered in the following?
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
What's happening is absolutely blatant, again...how is it not?
Does calling it veneration make it ok? Where in the bible does it make exceptions for the commandment?
As to “where in muh bible” blah blah blah, sola scriptura is your man-made doctrine. Don’t try making it mine, thanks.
