@☦Marius☦ did a better work explaining the idea behind praying for the dead with both Scriptures and History.

Well when one answers a question with a question that is what happens. Did Marius convince you praying to the dead is not something a Christian does?

I didn't know witches cared for the salvation of people through prayers to Jesus.

No they don't, they practice witchcraft, like praying to summon spirits (or praying to the dead). The dead can't hear your prayers nor can your prayers change the state they are in.

Why celebrate a holiday for demons, devils, zombies, and death???

This "word pseudo holiday" glorifies Satan and his minions. It's a dark "holiday", just look at the tv and culture.

Christmas and Thanksgiving have redeeming qualities: you celebrate the birth of Christ (any day counts) and you give thanks unto the Lord......
but what redeeming qualities does Halloween have? None, it is all about demons.

You need to lighten up.

You need to lighten up.

Lighten up, throw discernment out the window and gleefully embrace the demonic. I mean after all only those crazy fundamentalist that actually believe the bible think like that...

You need to lighten up.

Tell that to God. He needs to lighten up. Obviously, we should observe the world and do the things in the world...just join up with them...no need to set ourselves "apart" from unbelievers....just follow their customs.

1 Peter:2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

2 Corinthians 6:17:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

2 Corinthians 6:14:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

This Halloween worldy day is pure satanic....it celebrates death, darkness, and demons. God's people should have nothing to do with this day.

Do you also celebrate thanksgiving? Because historically, it has more right to be called Satanic just based on it's history and that goes with a lot of Holidays, especially Christmas.

I'm planning on making soul cakes and offering an akathist for the departed. What do you think? Are you doing something similar?

You can't do anything for the dead.

(Hebrews 9:27 [KJV]) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

So you KNOW the history of Thanksgiving? It’s very Christian.

Yeah, it's crazy that people ignore how Christians have prayed for the dead before there was a complete Bible.

I would assume you’re not a follower of Christ and that is the first that needs to be corrected.
Once that is corrected, the desire to makes offerings to or for the dead will be also dealt with. Two with one blow.
Is it against the rules to considered someone to be not Christian. Also, it is ignorant to think I am doing "an offering" for the dead. So you are also calling me pagan.

Forgetting the fact that I am not Catholic and I don't believe in Purgatory, this anti-Catholic make some ironic statements such as considered the book of Maccabees faked because the Jews say it is when the Jews pray for the dead, using the Old Testament (that didn't have so many explanations about the Resurrection) and talking about the destiny of the people before Christ who couldn't go to Paradise, while being blasphemous in assuming the deceased have no emotion when the New Testament mention dead people feeling what's going on, saying that the first reference of praying to the dead is with Tertullian when the early Christians were Jews, there are tombs with request to pray for the deceased and that other such as Augustine also prayed for the dead.

Your site is a poor source to use. The Early church fathers and the early christians also prayed for the dead. Research about the tomb of Abercius of hieropolis, there is an inscription on his tomb that says "Let every friend who observes this pray for me". The Roman Catacombs also contain prayers to the christians who died during that time. Then you have Church Tertullian, Agustine, and even some of the oldest Liturgies held by the Eastern Orthodox... the Jews even did it and believed it.

Additionally, Paul did 2 Timothy 1:16-18, praying for Onesiporus in 2 Timothy 4:1. Yes, i predict you are going to go CARM.org or whatever protestant site to try to dispute this but this is wrong, because we all know Paul is quoting a verse in 2 Maccabees - which is about praying for the dead. It doesn't matter if you don't believe 2 Maccabees or not because at the end, Paul still used it as a prayer to someone.

Just to add, while Maccabees isn't in the Hebrew canon that doesn't mean the Jews disregard or ignore it. It is the book that contains the story of Hanukkah, which we know the Jews celebrate. In addition to be quoted in 2 Tim.
