My argument is against Christians as a whole being accountable under old covenant law.
The Ten Commandments are included in the moral law or God and as such are included in the Old Covenant and also the NEW Covenant were "the LAW of God is written on the heart" Jeremiah 31:31-33.
This is a bible fact admitted to by almost every Christian denomination on planet Earth.
I am glad these Sunday sources all affirm the Ten Commandments for Christians.
The Baptist Confession of Faith,
the Westminster Confession of Faith ,
D.L. Moody,
R.C Sproul,
Matthew Henry,
Thomas Watson
Eastern Orthodox Catechism
The Catholic Catechism.
The purpose of the old covenant, including the ten commandments was fulfilled by Jesus and replaced with the Holy Spirit under the new covenant of Jesus Christ. I know you don't agree, and it is your choice to follow the ten commandments as it is my choice to follow the Spirit.
Everyone has free will - and you are of course free to differ with what I stated above about the fact that God's moral law defines what sin is - and this is true no matter if you are OC or NC -- so then it is a
sin to take God's name in vain in both Old Covenant and New Covenant.
The Holy Spirit is the one that writes the Law of God on the heart under the New Covenant according to Romans 2 .. and I for one believe that as do the Christian groups I listed.
My point was simply to point out that this particular detail is not even remotely a distinctive of the SDA denomination - but that in fact most Christian denominations on Earth as in the example above also agree to this basic Bible detail in the form of their statements on faith and doctrine.
I am not claiming that no Christian differs with them on this - just that it is not remotely a case of "just SDAs know this".
