Let's see. Would that not imply we need to follow only those six that he mentioned? In which case, when he again says, "One thing you lack," he must contradict himself, seeing as he directly answered with those six to the first question. After all, I'm taking the whole answer quite literally. He directly said in order to enter life, which must be what God means for eternal life for that time and Lazarus, even after saying God's command was to believe in the one he sent, or that Abraham saw Jesus' day and was glad. I mean, I guess it means nothing that Job says, "I know my redeemer lives;" or the prophecies about the Messiah in the Old Testament, or Hebrews teaching about God finding fault with the people, or Paul saying that through the law, no one would be justified, or the Bible saying, "If perfection could be reached by the law, it would have been." Maybe when Paul says, "No one," he means, "No one after the coming of Jesus." And maybe there was no reason at all for God to leave sins committed beforehand unpunished and have Jesus preach to those who were dead.

What I'm trying to imply is that it's not always wise to take one verse and it's perspective. I'm not saying those who follow God were never held accountable to the Law of Moses, but by creating a way to God before Jesus, you are implying his blood as entirely unnecessary and the Messiah and the whole point of the blood sacrifice the Holy Spirit was pointing to becomes mute.

If you were apart from you family, are you with them or without them?

When righteousness is apart from the law, it is without the law.
Under the new covenant, righteousness and the law are not together.
Our justification is not by works of the law, but through faith.
The promise comes by faith to those of us who are not under the law. (never were)

So you really believe the only way you can hear God is through Scripture? I hear God during prayer. I hear God throughout the day. And yes I also hear God while in the scripture. But not only then. I did not come to Christ through scripture. I came to Christ by the draw of the Holy Spirit.

For God's Word is the foundation of our faith.
It is how we became believers in Jesus Christ.

Also, if you hear God by prayer, how do you know it is always God answering you?

For me: God responds to me by confirming His Word to me in some form or another as a part of His answer. For God always acts in harmony with His Word. You eliminate God's Word and you got nothing. There is no faith. You would not even know about Jesus without His Word. So please do not undermine the Word of God. For it is the very reason that we as Christians have faith. Maybe your faith is built upon something else. I don't know. But my faith rests upon God's Word.

Uh, no. If you were following my other posts in this thread, I am strongly against the idea that the weekly Saturday Sabbath is in effect for believers today under the New Covenant (New Testament). When I talk about the commands from John 14:15, these would be taken from Jesus Christ and His followers (or from the pages of the New Testament), and they would not be taken from the 613 commands from the Law of Moses (or from the pages of the Old Testament). For even the Moral Law (like: "Do not murder, etc.) in the Old Testament was enforced with death penalties by the hands of believers (Which is not the case for believers in the New Covenant). Jesus changed certain OT commands even before the cross (For example: Jesus changed the law that said, an eye for an eye, and He commanded people to turn the other cheek instead).

When Christ died upon the cross, the Old Covenant was no more and the New Covenant was officially implemented.

Hebrews 7:12 says the Law has changed.
This means we follow the command that come from Jesus and His followers.
Paul said we are to serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter (Romans 7:6). This is what it means when we say that we follow Jesus and His followers and not the Law of Moses. For we are under a New Covenant with New Commands.

In other words, any general command to all men you find in the pages of the New Testament is a command for us believers today. Granted, I found only one command (Which is an Old Covenant command) that is an exception to the rule on this. But that was only one so far that I have found (See Luke 2:24). In general we are to look to the pages of the New Testament in order to obey God and we are not to look to the pages of the Old Covenant so as to obey God. Granted, that is not to say there are not certain things in the Old Covenant that are mentioned that still apply for us today (that is not mentioned in the NT) but is still condemned like inappropriate behavior with animals (obviously). For the (old) law is lawful if one uses it lawfully.

And the response was from Jesus. He was agreeing with them for the most part. Did Jesus say that they were not breaking the Sabbath? (no) Did he say that what David and his companions did was unlawful? (yes) Did he say that the priests desecrated the Sabbath? (yes) What does all this tell us?

It wasn't the only time. When he was accused of working on the Sabbath he had this to say in his "defense". Thus agreeing with them.
