Hello all,

This thread is for friendly discussion only. So please be nice here.

The challenge I am putting up here is for anyone to show even one scripture that says God's 4th Commandment of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) which was spoken and written by God himself to his people, has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day.

Can anyone please show me where in all the bible does is say (SOLA SCRIPTURA; Scripture only please)...

1. That God's 4th commandments 7th day Sabbath has been abolished?

2. That Jesus is a Sabbath?

3. The Sabbath (seventh day) was ever changed from the seventh to the first day of the week?

4. Where we are told to keep the first day of the week holy?

5. Where the first day of the week (Sunday) is ever called a holy day?

6. That says that Jesus ever kept the first day (Sunday)?

7. That tells us to keep the first day in honour of the resurrection of Christ?

8. Where the first day is ever given any sacred name?

9. That affirms that any of the apostles ever kept the first day as the Sabbath?

10. From any apostolic writings that authorizes Sunday observance as the Sabbath of God?

11. Where we are told not to work on the first day of the week?

12. That says the seventh day is no longer God's Sabbath day?

13. That says the seventh day Sabbath is ABOLISHED?

14. Where the apostles ever taught any convert to keep the first day of the week as a Sabbath?

15. Where the first day was ever appointed to be kept as the Lord's Day?

16. Where the first day of the week is ever called the Lord's Day?

17. That says that the first day of the week was ever sanctified and hallowed as a day of rest?

18. That says that the Father or the Son (Jesus) rested on the first day of the week?

19. That says that Jesus, Paul or any other of the apostles taught anyone to observe the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

20. That calls the seventh day the “Jewish Sabbath” or one text that calls Sunday the “Christian Sabbath”?

21. Telling man to keep the first day of the week holy or to worship or rest on the first day of the week?

22. Authorizing anyone to set aside God's Sabbath and observe any other day?

23. Showing any of the apostles keeping the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

24. Authorizing someone to set aside the fourth Commandment and observe any other day of the week?

25. Where any apostle taught us to keep the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

26. Declaring that the seventh day is no longer the Eternal Sabbath day?

27. Where Sunday is now appointed to be kept as the New Testament Sabbath or holy day?

...................

Something to think about here because we are all accountable to God come judgment day where we will all be judged by the Word of God (John 12:47-48).

God's Word makes it very clear that if we follow the teachings of men over the Word of God we are not following God...

MATTHEW 15:3-9 [3],
[3], But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
[4], For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.
[5], But you say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift devoted to God, whatsoever you might have received from me;
[6], And honors not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God void by your tradition.
[7], You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
[8], These people draw near unto me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[9], But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

If we are KNOWINGLY breaking ANY of God's commandments we are not worshipping God.

Look forward to your thoughts...

There is no commandment that moves the Sabbath or changes it to another day. In fact, Hebrews 4:9 literally says, "there remains a Sabbath keeping for the people of God." Seeing each "feast" was a prophetic marker that pointed toward messiah's work, and seeing that the weekly Sabbath is the first "feast" listed in Lev. 23, then what is the weekly Sabbath pointing toward? The answer is the Millennial Kingdom. We work for 6 days and we rest 1, and that points to working and toiling and even decaying and dying for 6000 years and then a time of peace and restoration. Seeing the Millennial Kingdom has not started yet... then the Sabbath has to still be in place in order to point that which is "yet to come." To have removed it BEFORE the thing it pointed to came into fruition stands against God's character and method of doing things as revealed throughout all of Scripture.

None of the laws of Moses have been repealed. However, Gentile Christians do not have to keep the law of Moses. See Acts 15.

The apostles and elders, your brothers,

To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

Greetings.

24We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Farewell.

2 Corinthians 3:7 says that the 10 commandments engraved in stone were abolished.

Scripture mentions several times that believers met on the first day of the week to commemorate the lord's resurrection that is far holier than the sabbath.

the only day of the week that God made Holy was the 7th day of the week. No other day of the week is Holy, per the Old and New Testament

As usual, you only have 1 verse from the Apostle Paul that was taken out of context to push your false and lawless doctrine.

I don't care what you believe, but as a balance for others reading... you didn't bring all of the context in to play here. If you go back to verses 19 through 21 you see them saying what they needed to write and why. Why? That is verse 21... "because Moses (an idiomatic reference to the Law) is read in the synagogues each Sabbath." The Acts 15 letter is not a finish line... it doesn't have all that is expected of a non-Jewish believer.... does it include not serving other gods, honoring your parents, homosexuality, murder? No... so if you are going to say that the four things are all that is expected than you have legalized homosexuality. We know that can't be the case, so.... we know this isn't a finish line but rather a place to start and then learn and grow in the rest of God's word.

Cool... so I can steal and serve other gods now because the 10 commandments were done away with.

No... it doesn't say 10 commandments in 2 Cor 3... taken in context with so many things that speak on this... we know it isn't the commandments nailed to the cross but the verdict of guilt... our death sentence. THAT is what has been done away with, not "do not steal."

No I have more verses than that, but knowing how sabbatarians can't even digest that one, what's the point?

The point made in Acts 15 is quite clear. Gentle believers are not required to be circumcised, etc. Also, homosexuality is covered when sexual immorality is forbidden, so that doesn't make your point.

Yes Acts 15 is very clear, but Acts 21 is even clearer:

... thou thyself [Paul] also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. Acts 21:24-25

I am a Sabbatarian and all I see is you taking something out of context to fit your current bias. You have no idea that when you say, "the commandments are done away with," that you have made God a liar and messiah as well. How? Because first of all, Messiah said if you love me keep MY commandments... but then said the words he speaks are the Father's and not His. So which commandments are we to keep.... love God and neighbor? Those are new? NO... love God is in the shema in Deut. 6 and love neighbor comes out of Leviticus. Second, if the commandments are done away with then we are LAWLESS... and you might look up the Greek word anomia and see where and how it is used in the NT. Lawlessness isn't being free from secular law... it is used in context with GOD'S law... and we are warning IN THE NT not to be lawless and yet your teaching us that the law is gone. That is lawlessness!!!! You don't hear yourself and those around you because you Christian existence hangs on the faulty notion that you have to be correct and even perfect in your understanding. Being "wrong" about something, you this type of thinkers, is akin to being excommunicated.

The second covenant is more excellent by far than the first. Read Hebrews.
Yes... because the words that were on stone are being moved to the mind and heart directly. No more reading and following... those words will be in us, part of us... and that is better. But... they are the same words... words like serve God only, honor mom and dad, don't steal...

the verse in 2 Corinthians 3 has to do with God changining the way that His commandments are given. He’s no longer writing them on stone - he’s writing his commandments on the heart. To write them on stone leads to death, to write them on the heart leads to life.

The location is changing, not the commandments, because God said he would write his laws on the heart in the new covenant - Jeremiah 31:31-33

Do you read any part of the Bible other than Paul’s letters?

It’s hilarious but pathetic how you are trying to pit the resurrection of Christ Against the Sabbath. That shows just how confused you are.

The Sabbath is the only day of the week that God made holy. Period.

OK, if you say so. No sense then in sharing the history of why Paul was even offended by the notion of circumcision unto salvation... you sound like you know it all, already.

Yes... and that can't be abstract.... so when it says, "God is a rock" I know I can go out and pick Him up from a roadside and pray to Him? When Paul calls himself a drink offering we should view him as a literal Temple sacrifice? If the 10 commandments are done away with then serving only YHWH, not killing, not stealing, all of that is done away with. That is exactly what you are saying. Exactly... but you can't see that and probably won't any time soon because your identity hangs on this doctrine. I know... I once held it. Take care.

Most of the Sunday Christians don’t know their Bible, because God told his people that if someone tells you to not obey his commands, to not listen to them.

This is how I know that these people on this board have a gross misunderstanding of the Apostle Paul and the rest of the NT, because if he really was teaching people to not obey the commandments, then he is worthy of the death penalty for leading God’s people astray to worship other gods. Matte

Dont be weary with keeping the law. Christ commanded us to love God and each other. This is all of the law that you need. If you wish to observe the Sabbath, then do so. But to require Gentiles to observe it is wrong. See Romans 14.

God’s commands are not a burden. Loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself is from the LAW, brother.

1 John 5:3-4 NIV
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.

And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world

Deuteronomy 6:4 Leviticus 19:18 are the 2 greatest commands that Christ gave. These 2 commands summarize the whole law and are from the law.
