Thank you for the old testament texts showing the identical wording. However, they confirm my belief that the Sabbaths were the weekly Sabbath every week, and not ceremonial Sabbaths. They are all plural - feast(s), new moon(s), and Sabbath(s). I'm not sure what you are trying to prove other than confirming what I believe, so thank you. The question remains, why can't you see the significane of showing the Sabbaths were indeed the weekly Sabbath.
Hello 1stcenturylady, nice to see you.
This thread has a long way to go but your answers have already been answered with scriptures within the OP.
Did you actually read the posts within the OP?
The argument using (S) at the end of sabbath in COL 2:16 is hardly mentioned in this OP even as an argument. This was done on purpose as there is so much scripture showing that COL 2:16 is discussing the SHADOW laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT and not the 10 Commandments that it is not needed really to be highlighted as a point of discussion here.
However, since you brought it up and are not wantnig to talk about the OP here. I am happy to do so. Firstly, what you have stated above is NOT correct.
For example you state the use of the WORDS feast, new moon and sabbath are all plural. This is not true whatsoever. If you look at the interlinear and the GREEK words used you will see a GFS or a GNP after each of these words used in COL 2:16
Interlinear use of COL 2:6 linked here...
GFS = GENITIVE FEMININE SINGULAR (use is singular)
GNP = GENITIVE NEUTRAL PLURAL (use is plural)
The ONLY case where GNP is used is in the word sabbath all the other words meat and drink, feast day and new moon uses the singular expression of GFS,
T7C captured this earlier not sure if you read it ...
The plurality of Sabbath included many types of Sabbaths that included the..
1. The annual Sabbaths connected to festivals (there are many; Leviticus 23),
2, The 7th year Sabbath and
3. The 50th year Sabbath in Leviticus 23 & 25,
These were all different to the weekly 7th day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, seen at the beginning before the sin of mankind and had different purposes. These special sabbaths could all fall and start on any day of the week besides the 7th Day.
This is why many translations render the scripture as ...
New Living Translation
So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths
Berean Literal Bible
Therefore let no one judge you in regard to food, or in regard to drink, or in regard to a feast, or a New Moon, or Sabbaths
King James Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days
International Standard Version
Therefore, let no one judge you in matters of food and drink or with respect to a festival, a New Moon, or Sabbath days
NET Bible
Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days
Jubilee Bible 2000
Let no one therefore judge you in food or in drink or in respect of a feast day or of the new moon or of the sabbath days
King James 2000 Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days
American King James Version
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days
Douay-Rheims Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a festival day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths
Darby Bible Translation
Let none therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in matter of feast, or new moon, or sabbaths
Webster's Bible Translation
Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of a holy-day, or or the new-moon, or of the sabbaths
Young's Literal Translation
Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths
This is not to say that COL 2:16 can not be applied to plural use of meat, drink holydays and sabbaths as I believe the scripture is discussing them all so it is not a problem either way to me. This is just highlighting the GREEK and what you were saying earlier was not correct.
I was not going to discuss this in much detail in this OP as it is not really needed considering all the scriptures in the OP that address COL 2:16 however, thanks for bringing this up.
Hope this helps.
