The answer to the question Did Jesus himself say: "I am God and worship me?" is: Did Jesus himself say "I am only a prophet, don't worship me"?Dear Brothers and Sisters... We Christians believe in One true Living God. I am posting this thread to improve our knowledge in bible. Every muslims, Jehovah witness community, and other people who says that Jesus should not be worshipped, or some saying that He is only son of God, but not that God Himself or says that He should not be claimed as a son for God, but just a prophet. Anyway they just conclude to one question asking: Did Jesus himself say, "I am God and worship me"?.
I have answers for their ignorance. But, kindly share your opinions. We need to be very serious about this. Whether individually you are strong or not, there are many innocent christians getting converted to the wrong paths, since many believers as christians not properly answering to that exact question. We need to battle the dark forces through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Did Jesus himself say: "I am God and worship me?".
How about these verses from the bible? Please check the below two linksThe answer to the question Did Jesus himself say: "I am God and worship me?" is: Did Jesus himself say "I am only a prophet, don't worship me"?
Chances are this is the line of thought and reasoning Muslims and Jehovah witnesses are pursuing when attacking the nature of Jesus. It's very much a superficial approach to understanding the scriptures of the old and new testaments and the people using this tactic are generally not interested in the truth. So press them to show you where in the Bible Jesus says "I am only a prophet, don't worship me". It doesn't show that either, so a more thoughtful and intellectually honest approach is needed.
In case they are genuinely interested in thoughtful examination of the issue, there are numerous related passages in the entire Bible that shows as the ESV translates it, "Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe." Jude 1:5.
If anyone is interested in learning about this topic, it only takes a few hours to go through it. The best explanation I have found is done by a biblical scholar speaking every day language here:
I have quoted some verses from the bible that Jesus claiming himself as God. Please check the below two links.Yes this is a question muslims are trained to ask Christians.. And they are trained to only accept the direct quote from Jesus.. Because thye know there is no such quote..
This video is the way to answer them..
I have quoted some verses from the bible that Jesus claiming himself as God. Please check the below two links.
Did Jesus himself claims: "I am God, and worship me?"
Did Jesus himself claims: "I am God, and worship me?"
Please check my previous post links....Lets consider the divine qualities of God and see if Jesus fit himself into it.
1. God can forgive sin.
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . ." Then He said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your mat, and go home." Mat.9:6
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." Luke 7:48 (NIV)
2.God is eternal and the creator of everything.
Jesus is present before the creation of the world. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:1-3(NIV)
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;” (Genesis 1:26). Who is God talking to here? This is definitely Jesus
3. Jesus is the Jehova God of the Old Testament.
I AM WHO I AM. Exodus 3:14
I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he. You will indeed die in your sins. John 8:24 (NLIT)
4. Jesus did not denied being worshiped.
Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."
Mat. 14:33 (NIV)
The blind man worshiped Jesus.
Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. John 9:38
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28
If Jesus is not God then certainly it is complete violation of the 1st Commandment.
You shall have no other gods before me.You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God punishing the children for the sin of the parents the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. Exodus 20:3-5
5. God can grant us eternal life.
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1 John 5:11 (NLV)
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. John 11:25 (NIV)
6. Only God can atonement for our sins.
He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins--and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. 1John 2:2 (NLV)
The Son is the visible image of the invisible God. Col:1:15 (NIV)
There are so many instances which I can quote to confirm that Jesus is the Lord God and should be worshiped.
Then I saw a Lamb, on the earth. Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures In a loud voice they were saying:Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and all that is in them, saying:“To him who sits on the throne be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
The four living creatures fell down and worshiped.
Rev.6:6-14 (NIV)
To those who believe there are plenty of references that Jesus is the Lord God. But those who do not believe they are already been judged.
If you worship God, you will do what God asks of you. If you do what Jesus asks of you, you are worshiping God because Jesus asks you to do something in the name of God.Lets consider the divine qualities of God and see if Jesus fit himself into it.

Good... I too searched alot and wanted to know the truth. And finally I found the truth because Word of God is not broken as scripture says it. I have more verses from the scripture to prove, but I did not post everything as I was expecting a right time to post it.I see that all the replies to this thread are from those who believe Yeshua is God and should be worshiped as such. I disagree. However, if I were to state why I disagree, I would have 10-15 people coming against my posts making replying to them all very tedious and time consuming. Nevertheless, I will make such an attempt to address post #22 one or two verses at a time. I would appreciate it if you allow Anand to reply first. If he fails to address my post adequately, then feel free to assist him. If I am too overwhelmed with replies, I will will just bow out, not because I don't have a defense, but because I don't have the time for endless debate.
This verse says nothing about Yeshua (Jesus) being God. We are to honor our Heavenly Father for who He is and for what He has done and we are to honor His Son Yeshua for who he is and for what he has done. We are not to honor the Son as our Heavenly Father, nor are we to honor our Heavenly Father as though He was our brother Yeshua. Here I am quoting mostly the words of Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself claims that He is God.
Lord Jesus Christ says in John 5:23
"....all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father".
note: Lord Jesus Christ himself says to honor Him "just as" they do for the Father. So, We honor the Father and His begotten Son equally by worshipping.
Yeshua is NOT claiming to be the Father. He is claiming to be the image of the Father as far as his character is concerned. We know he was not claiming that Philip was seeing the Father because Yeshua said no man has seen the Father in John 6:46. In other words, all the people that saw Yeshua prior to John 6:46 were NOT seeing the Father. Neither was Philip or any other NT person seeing the Father. Keep in mind that an image is not the reality. An image of an apple is not the apple itself. Yeshua is not the Father, but only an image of Him. He is not a vague image like all other men, but a clear and concise image, so much so that when we see him, we see the Father.Lord Jesus Christ claims in John 14:9 as
"..He who has seen Me has seen the Father".
note: It's a unique saying that He(Lord Jesus Christ) is the image of the Father. God created man in His own image, but nobody can claim like Jesus claimed in a unique statement.
Good. I have provided many verses in that...please go through all of that. When you complete it, I will provide more verses for us to know the Truth.

Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, did say that He is Son of God. Christians honours both the Holy Father and His only begotten Son. But, just honouring them individually is not that verse was meaning for. Lord Jesus Christ did not say in that verse as 'Honour the Son and Honour the Father". He is saying in a different way as: "Honour the Son like you Honour the Father". Nobody in this earth dare to compare himself with the Holy Father, but why Lord Jesus Christ saying that way? Because the Heavenly members are worshipping both the Holy Father and His only begotten Son.This verse says nothing about Yeshua (Jesus) being God. We are to honor our Heavenly Father for who He is and for what He has done and we are to honor His Son Yeshua for who he is and for what he has done. Does that mean they are the same being? Yeshua said something similar in John 17:22;Lord Jesus Christ says in John 10:30
"I and the Father are one."
note: He says they are one -together and combined, because the Word was in God and was begotten as Son of God.
In Luke 24:50-52
"...He(Lord Jesus Christ) lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, He left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
note: They worshipped Lord Jesus Christ when He was take up to heaven. Angels did not stopped those who worshipped Him.
