You cannot, however, jump in your yacht and sail down there. You will be arrested.

This is untrue. Antarctica is a popular attraction for mariners. You can also circumnavigate it.

There are commercial expeditions available to both poles, btw.

On a ball earth you would just need a vehicle to hover over one spot on the ground until the earth rotated for the vehicle to be over another part of the earth.

This is of course inaccurate, for the same reason that if you jump on an airplane, you will not find yourself hurtling down the aisle at 590 MPH.

There is something called "inertia;" the Earth is rotating at a constant speed. If the speed of the rotation were to suddenly change, that would be another story.

I have seen this first hand.
The flight and icon for the plane.....poof, no longer on the map. But, later, on schedule, they reappear near the land and their destination

I do not know why that would be but it is not because GPS is not available over those ocean areas.
Again - Because it's not GPS. Some airlines use GPS. Many still use only ground-based radar. That's why they "lost" MH370 and that's why you can't track them over open ocean.

This is untrue. Antarctica is a popular attraction for mariners. You can also circumnavigate it.

You can even book a cruise there:

Sorry, I do not believe in conspiracy theories on some kind of cover up on how the Earth is flat.

Please have a nice day.
And may God bless you.
And may He show you the truth on this matter someday.

...

If you look back, a lot of conspiracy theories turned out to be actual facts. Check these out. Some don't seem that much like "tin foil hat" ideas, but, back then, they were full blown "get outta here" tin foil hat theories....:

33 Conspiracy Theories That Turned Out To Be True, What Every Person Should Know…

There is a reason for all conspiracy theories. They may be off the wall, they may go against academia, they may cause you to go "no way", and "are you serious, you believe that".

However, they don't just show up because someone had some hair brained idea and it caught fire...Nope, people notice something isn't right, they scratch a little, dig a little and find things aren't lining up... more join in and the observations continue to cause more questions...

I didn't say you couldn't go there under a guided tour or travel planner.....a supervised trip.... Nope, that is still available.

I said, you cannot get in your boat, ship, yacht with a bunch of buddies and sail your butt down there.... You can do that any other place in the world but you can not have an unsupervised, invalidated, non permission personal trip below the 60th parallel.

You will be arrested.

The bigger problem is that a flat Earth would not have rain. Everything breaks when you mess with geometry.

Hadn't even thought of prevailing winds, seasons, cyclonic storms, polar ice caps etc --- all are a consequence of the planetary model.

No, that's not what I read, according to Paul's revelation. I read that Noah existed in the earth of another dispensation which is, another universe. That is how Noah did it without breaking any of the laws of this Universe.
It appears that all had not known about this Universe when Paul asks, "if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God," which is our Universe of today; the fourth day of the Creation.
So, no; high hills and mountains do not refute the concept. Try again, but I don't think you even have an argument in this discussion, from your perspective. :)
[Eph 3:2 KJV] 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
I'd really like to see the edge of the earth...whats there?...big water fall or a wall of granite?...anyone seen it? How come this wasnt in my textbooks? How can I travel there?

So how many of the airline flight planners are flat earth believers. Can't find any.
Ask yourself this.... If "jacksbratt" is getting this much opostion on a "mean nothing" Christian debate forum.. and others on other sites and in other circles are getting much worse flack....

Can you imagine, working for American Airlines, Delta Air, British airways........or what ever. A dream job. Good money...and you go public and say.. "ya, when flying around the globe, I noticed that it cannot be a globe.....

How long would you have a job, career, life?

Hi Zoii,

I can tell you are new to this topic.

According to the flat earth believers, there is no edge, as such.

The earth, supposedly, is like a plate. The edge of the plate is rimmed with a wall of ice that holds everything in. The north pole is the very center of the plate. What is beyond the edge of the plate is so harsh of weather and conditions it is difficult to travel there.

So, what they are saying is that Antarctica is not an Island Continent on the bottom of the globe, sphere earth. It is actually a wall that goes all around the outside parameter of the flat, round, plate shaped earth that has a dome over top.

Thanks - it does seem odd that this wall has never been seen or photographed though dont you think

I just dont want a discussion like this to be in a public forum. I mean people will think Christians to be utterly stupid beyond belief
No worries, Christians and non Christians think that "flatearthers" are stupid beyond belief.

However, the Bible can be used to prove that God is talking about a flat earth. Which, is no more far fetched than making a woman from a mans rib, talking donkeys, water in an sea moving out of the way for people to walk through, the sun and moon standing still, food falling from the sky, a walled city crumbling because a bunch of priests blew their trumpets...

I never heard that one before. Can you explain why?

Very briefly, a spinning globe is a huge gyroscope. This explains why it points in one direction. A gyroscope if not perfectly balanced will also precess, that is to slowly change the direction in which the poles are pointing. The earth does this in a cycle of 22,000 years. Polaris is our present north star, that changes slowly over the cycle. Because the rotational axis is tilted (23 degrees at the present time) we get the seasons. The precession of the axis will also produce long term heating and cooling effects. The fact that the earth has an atmosphere that is warmed at the equator and cooled at the poles produces winds. But these winds do not blow in straight lines. There is an effect called the Coreolis force caused by the gyroscopic nature of the earth. This Coreolis force causes the winds to curve with the effect that cyclonic storms in the northern hemisphere rotate counter clockwise while they are clockwise in the southern hemisphere. A globular rotating earth together with the observed laws of physics explains a whole whack of observations very neatly that a flat earth cannot even touch. My brief comments above are very sketchy and really only touch the physics in a very superficial way.

Equally it does seem odd how the sun rises in the east and sets in the west - where does it goes once it hits the west - whats the theory? The moon is equally tricky like that. And how does one get to get a satellite to work if the earth is flat? Seems odd that NASA got it all so wrong yet right enough to have someone in space let alone land on the moon or set up a space station.
