the first thing he preached was REPENT ..it means to rethink to turn and think again and agree with God ..then follow him obediently .

While there is some truth to this... Jesus was Jewish and spoke Aramaic and/or Hebrew. The word he would have used is teshuvah, go and look it up and apply that definition to the English word 'repent' which is not defined today as it was understood long ago. Blessings.

It means to return, it is used throughout the OT. God established a path... Israel walked on it. Israel divided into two nations (Judah to the south, Israel to the north) and Israel walked away from the path. God warned them and ultimately punished them by sending in the Assyrians who killed many and took most of the rest captive. Instead of turning back to God, they assimilated into the Assyrian culture, followed their gods, and then God scattered them into the nations as punishment as promised in Deut. 30:1-6 but repeated many times including in all of Hosea 1. Anyway... God promised he would bring them back... turn them from "not my people" to "sons of the Living God." These people have been historically known as the Lost Sheep of Israel. Not Jews, the Jews are Judah... the lost sheep of ISRAEL, the ones sent into the nations.

Messiah came and said, "I have not been sent BUT to the lost sheep of Israel." His sheep hear his voice... did you hear his voice and come in faith? Then you have an identity you are not aware of...not "spiritual Israel" but Israel, part of a people who were promised MANY TIMES to "return." Teshuvah gets translated as repent, but it means to return. To the ways of God? Yes, but beyond turning away from sin, teshuvah has a destination within the concept of the word.

Thank God for the example we receive from living devils. For if it were not for them Christ's light would never shine brighter than the darkness from whence they emerge. And we would not be able to test the spirits and find the truth of Christ for ourselves. No fancy words, for Jesus was a simple man that delivered an eternal message.

The Saints be not fooled! The one who hopes to lead the Saints from righteousness shall find their eternity in the pit with the father of lies that sent them.
As it should be. Amen! And Amen!

Jesus is the gate. Whoever enters through him shall be saved..... John 10:9

If you died tomorrow dear true Brothers and Sisters in Christ, you will see Christ after life. While the devils that claim that is not true shall spend eternity suffering for the lies they hoped to speak so that you would doubt Christ and his eternal message of salvation.
Just as Jesus was tempted by Satan to depart from his path while here in this world, so too are there Devils that hope to lead people of Christ away from the way, the truth, and the eternal life.
Rebuke them! For they are damned and dead in their sin.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)

John 1:12

we have faith in him to save us . we receive that salvation when he returns .. and when he returns he very clearly rejects many who think they waited in him because they said so with their lips but their lives were at enmity with him . refer the parables .they did not abide in him or obey him or love him in anything but fancy words .
2John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Romans3:
10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11There is none that understandeth, there is none (EMPHASIS NONE), that seeketh after God.

12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Romans9:11(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 13As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

14What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy
Romans9:
17For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.18Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
Ok....so why share the Gospel? Being that God will save who He wants. If someone is to be elected, they will come to believe regardless if the gospel was preached to them.

Once TRULY saved Always Saved. Any view that focuses on Man having an ability to come to God is faulty teaching. "There are NONE who seek after God, NO NOT ONE." Any view that takes the focus off of the redemption of Yeshua's sacrifice, they indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the sealing of the Holy Spirit until the Day of redemption is unscriptural and borders on Humanistic social christiianity and is not biblical. If you think you must DO something to maintain your salvation you are in a Works based theology.

See rmacfarland post #358, please,
wherein he quotes Romans 11:19-22

_________________________________

WHO is the Root? Who are the branches?

"Grafted in" pertained to Gentiles who were made eligible for the Gift of salvation by Grace through Faith through the Covenant with Abraham, resulting in the Cross. Each Gentile who does not respond to the offer of the Gift of salvation will be "broken off," just as those Jews who were chosen, who were granted redemption in advance, but failed to remain true to the Covenant, then ultimately rejected their personal invitation to enter in through the Grace of their Messiah, Jesus. Note the difference: The Jews were chosen and granted redemption at birth; Gentiles were to be convicted by the Holy Spirit, following through with the confession in Romans 10:8-13. Jews were instructed to follow rites, rituals, washings, sacrifices, temple worship, 613 commandments (including the Ten) in order to maintain their chosen status, then to enter into their earthly Kingdom (Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew, identical to Kingdom of God in Mark and Luke). Christians do "none of the above" before or after receiving Jesus as Savior. They receive Jesus by Grace through Faith, just as it was offered 2,000 years ago to the Jews, the Apostle Paul revealing the "mystery" to everyone on earth.

Who got / gets broken off? Who was / will be grafted in?

Gentile Believers are those who accept the Gift (Romans 10:8-13). They are fellow citizens with the saints (Ephesians 2:19), but they were not merged into Judaism. Jews were not merged into Gentiles.

Paul explains this clearly when he tells the Jews "not to seek to be uncircumcised" and the Gentiles "not to become circumcised" (1 Corinthians 7:18). There was no need for either people group to think they must become what they were not. Instead, God made Jews and Gentiles into "one new man" in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:15). This "new man" is referring to the Church, the Body of Christ, which is made up of neither Jew nor Gentile (Galatians 3:27-29). It is a Spiritual union!

It's important for Jews and Gentiles to remain authentic in their own identity. In this way a clear picture of the unity of the Body of Christ can be seen as Jews and Gentiles united by one Lord, one Faith, one Spiritual Baptism (not water). If Gentiles are grafted into Israel, becoming Jews, the purpose and picture of both Jew and Gentile, coming together as one new man, is lost. God never intended Gentiles to become one in Israel, nor for Israel to abandon its national identity, but joined in the Covenant of Grace through Faith, therefore one in Jesus, thereby recipients of Eternal Life.

It "proves" that if your statement is correct, the statement will also apply to Peter. You are essentially saying that Jesus "wrote [Peter] off as the devil" as well.
No, Yeshua was rebuking him, not calling him a devil. He was rebuking the humanistic thought that comes from satan. Not calling Peter satan in the idea that Peter WAS Satan. Note that in scripture it says that the Devil entered into Judas. Luke 22:3.

Peter was a close disciple of God, but he rejected Jesus three times. Due to fear. But also note that the Holy Spirit was not present in the disciples at this time to give them power to witness and stand in the face of persecution. Pentecost had not occured yet, so Yeshua gave Peter the opportunity to "rededicate himself" to Yeshua by declaring his love for the Son 3 times to erase the 3 denials. We as christians have the Holy Spirit in us from DAY 1 if you truly repent. Merely raising you hand while nobody looks lest you be ashamed and saying the "sinners prayer" is not repentance from your sins. You have to stop sinning and let the Holy Spirit sanctify you and reprove you and chasten you. We are not perfected, but the work of the Holy Spirit continually perfects us and seals us until the Day.

I used to believe in loosing salvation for years BTW. One book i read that helped me truly understand Grace was "Grace Awakening" by Chuck Swindoll. I suggest if you struggle with this question and believe Yeshua's Grace to not be sufficient for you, read it.

ok thanks ,i will take the added information on board . So essentially to change one minds . to rethink, to turn again and go back towards god (as opposed to acting in opposition to him )..so essentially the same understanding reworded ..but thanks :)

Over there on the wall , see the switch? PUSH IT UP. The light comes on .....
:)
FIRST FIND SEARCHING FOR TRUTH:
What Is Teshuvah in Judaism?
By Ariela Pelaia. Definition: Teshuvah literally means "return" and is the word used to describe the concept of repentance in Judaism. Only by atoning for our sins ...
judaism.about.com/od/judaismbasics/g/teshuvah.htm
just for a bit of humor .. this is subjective truth .. where i come from we turn the switch to the down position to bring the lights on .. but its the same switch lol ;)

In the NT, WHO followed Y'SHUA AND remained faithful until death ?
Following after THEY WERE CALLED. They did not go up to Jesus and spontaneously follow him UNTIL Jesus CALLED them. They did NOT seek after God on their own.
