The majority of our time, when it doesn't seem very clear how, why, or where God is involved,
those times are precisely where faith belongs.
Those times are exactly where we need to step out and say, “I believe, help my unbelief.”
By faith, we are entrusting ourselves not to facts, figures, or proof, not to intellectual reasoning, not to religious feelings.
By faith we are entrusting ourselves to someone.

That's precious, isn't it, that we're entrusting ourselves to "Someone"?

And this "Someone" IS trustworthy in more ways than we can fathom this side of heaven.

This is a priceless "gem" my friend.

I had never thought about it like that.

Because we believe in Christ, we are not condemned. We are forgiven and made new.

Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Isn't that precious?

Don't let your denomination keep you from being one with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. There are many denominations but one Body.

1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 1:12-13 ESV
What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

Romans 8 is a wonderfully solid, doctrinal chapter! :)

The most frequent criticism against modern Christians by outsiders is that "the church is full of hypocrites"
What a shame that Christians are seen that way!
It is true perhaps that people would criticize the church even if it were full of committed folk. But it is true also that we Christians give the outsiders much to criticize. We grumble and mumble.
We are unkind and unfair. We criticize and complain. We debate and argue.
And we are judged.
Imagine how different our mission would be, imagine how much better our task would be if, when we approached a lost man with the gospel, he knew that our church had a track record of love, compassion, and honesty.
Imagine how different his response might be if we said what we mean and mean what we say.
:amen: That brings to mind these passages:

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

1Peter 2:12
Conduct yourselves with such honor among the nations that, though they slander you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us.

I love the concept of this thread. I feel we often count our misfortunes rather than our blessing. The one thing that I am thankfully is, despite my very emotionally draining week, the Lord continues to shine His light on me, and comforts me in my sorrow, even when I cannot discern it.

Ever day there are many books coming out to read and some of the religious books are very good. I have been thinking that perhaps the followers of Christ sometimes allow this religious literature to take their attention from God's Word and that there may not be much Bible reading as there should be.

You go to the store and you get mineral waters, but you have noticed that they are not as fresh or sparkling or healthful as when you get them from their source.
Getting them right where they bubble from the rock. And I have noticed the same thing in regard to the truth of the gospel.

While there is a good deal of the refreshment and health of the gospel of God as it comes through good books. I find it is better when I come to the Eternal Rock of God's Word and drink from the fountain that bubbles up fresh and pure to the life, the refreshment, the health of the Soul

That's true, doc, amen.

Without the Word of God, that literally "feeds" us spiritually, even if there are an abundance of "good books" to read, we starve spiritually.

Those "good books" should be leading and pointing us right to the living Word. Otherwise they're a "distraction", no matter how wunnerful they are.
