When a person brags, I believe that it is because he doesn’t realize how much God truly loves him.

A bragging man tries to make himself look better than he thinks he actually is. He does this so that people will like or accept him because of his having achieved some special status or feat.
However the very thing that he hopes to gain he doesn’t get, the acceptance and being liked by others.
Bragging you see causes people to be pushed away from us.
Braggers are always making you aware of their achievements and or how they can do something better than others.

These people have never realized that true greatness is something that is a gift from God anyway, and that it is God who should get all of the praise and glory.
When you think about it there is nothing that anyone has that didn’t come from God in the first place, therefore knowing that how could anyone brag about anything?

If we were to be like Christ we would want in love to praise others and not ourselves and our own feats and achievements.
The one who brags does this because he doesn’t realize in his own experience the love that God has for him.

Yes, I think that when someone brags, they don't realize how abundant God is. They're trying to sort of force other people to give them the affirmation they need, when God already has so much of that to give. Also, when you're self-centered like that, focused on yourself, you really miss out on the greater pleasure of delighting in God.

Most of the time when God calls us to walk in faith, the “seen” doesn’t look so good and doesn’t feel so good,
but God asks us to trust Him, not what we see.
In the response we give, we can walk in obedience to what we hear from God,
or we can walk in relying on what other people may say.
We can live according to what other people may think or by what God says is true.
The choice is ours.

There are some things in our life that will rarely win trophies or awards.
But the loyalty, the love and care, of close friends and family are among the truly treasured things most of us have.
Even though we do not posses it, this critical fiber of a relationship is displayed in honored places in our lives.
In a world that is full of negative things that try to pull us down, the Lord puts special people in our lives to hold us up,
help us stand and point us to Him.

 that is soooo true, doc...we GOTTA trust Him, no matter what. Sometimes it can seem like a furnace of affliction and/or a wilderness journey. Reminds me of this song. Yet, there is a sweetness in trusting Him as a child, because somehow one senses Him sooo near if one can just surrender as a small child, trusting Him.

It can shake ya' to yer core, tho' cuz there's a mighty struggle goin' on with the flesh, and our will, which has a vise-like grip on us. Surrendering to God is the only thing that loosens that grip.

Well there it is, we gotta "die" to self, don't we?

No WONDER this has been an infernal struggle for me.

Whew! God help to just surrender as a small child, because that indicates that we REALLY BELIEVE Him. That He is Who He says He is.

And that is the ONLY thing that pleases Him.

To BELIEVE Him.

Maybe we gotta pray more that He gives us a heart that DELIGHTS in blessing Him.

Good lesson and meditation, doc.

God bless you, my friend.

Hey, are ya' gonna come on over to the Bible games in the Recreation Room?

Yer missed

Isn't it amazing when you take the time to consider?
Our Lord knows the struggles we face; He knows the burdens we bear. He too endured the same temptations we are faced with.
He desires to strengthen us in the faith and equip us for the journey. I praise Him that we do not walk alone.
If we will but walk with Him, according to His will, we can enjoy the power of God in our lives, guiding our steps and equipping us to endure.

This is soooooo true.

Reminds me of this message i heard this morning on a Back To The Bible broadcast:

We live in a negative world
A fallen world where it seems that the ungodly are getting more and more prominent. So much of what we hear is just negative, and we have to make a deliberate effort to be positive and counter the culture we live in. Praise is a great tool to help us achieve that.

If someone were to pass out, the first thing we’d do is check their pulse to see if their heart is still beating. In the same sense, checking our praise lives is how we check our spiritual pulse. If we don’t live lives that are constantly giving thanksgiving and praise unto God, we are not spiritually healthy.
Some people may take offense at that, thinking I just don’t know their situations.
In Philippians 4:4— it says
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

One summer night during a severe thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small son into bed.
She was about to turn the light off when he asked in a trembling voice, "Mommy, will you stay with me all night?"
Smiling, the mother gave him a warm, reassuring hug and said tenderly, "I can’t dear.
I have to sleep in Daddy’s room."
A long silence followed.
At last it was broken by a shaky voice saying, "The big sissy!"

The majority of our time, when it doesn't seem very clear how, why, or where God is involved,
those times are precisely where faith belongs.
Those times are exactly where we need to step out and say, “I believe, help my unbelief.”
By faith, we are entrusting ourselves not to facts, figures, or proof, not to intellectual reasoning, not to religious feelings.
By faith we are entrusting ourselves to someone.

Because we believe in Christ, we are not condemned. We are forgiven and made new.

Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
