doc: There is no greater privilege or joy than studying the Word of God. When we realize that God loved us enough not only to send His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins, but also cared enough for us to give us His revealed truths to challenge and guide our lives, we are amazed at how little we deserve and yet how much He has done for us!

There is only one set of final truths in this world, not mathematics or science, but only the Word of God.

Amen. God's Word literally "feeds" us spiritually, like manna/bread from heaven.

It is good for a believer to ask himself if he is as concerned about seeing God's working through others, as he is about God's working through himself. The sin nature causes a person to want to be center stage.

We are all like this, so we must come to grips with this tendency. We become competitive in the Christian life and find it difficult to pray for Christians who are not part of our church, or our work.
In the body of Christ there should be no competing with each other. We are members of the same body [1 Corinthians12:12-13], and when one member suffers, we should all suffer with him. When one member is honored, we should all rejoice.

Good grief, that is sooooo true. For the longest time i wanted God ALL to myself. Yet He kept working His sweet grace in me and i began to experience a change in heart, mind, and soul. He is GOOD. And He is faithful. I can now agree with the above wholeheartedly. I could not have done so previously. It's His grace that permeates us, as He completes what He began.

The most frequent criticism against modern Christians by outsiders is that "the church is full of hypocrites"
What a shame that Christians are seen that way!
It is true perhaps that people would criticize the church even if it were full of committed folk. But it is true also that we Christians give the outsiders much to criticize. We grumble and mumble.
We are unkind and unfair. We criticize and complain. We debate and argue.
And we are judged.
Imagine how different our mission would be, imagine how much better our task would be if, when we approached a lost man with the gospel, he knew that our church had a track record of love, compassion, and honesty.
Imagine how different his response might be if we said what we mean and mean what we say.

Christians are a covenant people.
We have given the Lord our lives. And we have received the promise-the covenant-
that God will always love us and be our Lord.
That is the glory of the new covenant. We are God's people.
We belong to that vast group of people of the new covenant who praise God,
love God, serve God

Listening to what God has to say is the responsibility of all of us.
God does not always come to us in thd sound of trumpets, by fire and smoke,
or by the resounding thunder from heaven.
But God speaks nevertheless. We had better listen.

God wants to be our God. But do we want to be God's people?
When we unite with God, things happen: lives are changed and worthy objectives are reached.
A new breed of person is the result.

My prayer:
O God, may your voice be heard today in the depths of my soul.
Then I will be a new creature more fitted in your service. Amen

There was a men's group in a church that was facing some real difficulties that decided they needed to have an all night prayer meeting about the issues.
They gathered in the church one night around 7:30 p.m. and began praying.
After about two hours one older saint stood up and began to leave.
The other men called out to him, "Brother, this is an all night prayer meeting.
Don't leave now." He responded, "gentlemen, I have prayed through on this matter.
I have entrusted the problems to the Lord our God.
He has given me peace of heart. To continue to prayer would be an act of mistrust.
You pray until you have peace. I'm going home to sleep."

One day a little girl, about five years old, heard a ranting preacher praying most lustily, till the roof rang with the strength of his supplication.
Turning to her mother, and beckoning the maternal ear down to a speaking-place, she whispered:
"Mother, don't you think that if he lived nearer to God he wouldn't have to talk so loud?"

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
That one little verse told us that we as Christians must be devoted to a constant life of one-on-one prayer with our heavenly Father,
that maintaining a life of prayer is vital for us to continue growing in relationship with God so that we will know His perfect will.

This is for certain:
Judgment is coming for every person by Christ.
It will be in justice, according to God's standard.
If we believe in Jesus now, are joined to him in baptism, and continue trusting in Him, we will not be condemned.
We should not have fear, therefore, but love, as we already know of God's love for us and the verdict He has already passed on those "in Christ."

"And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." ~ 1 Kings 19:11-12
