I don't have PTSD and did not take a life thank God

Glory be to God!

Nor do I, nor did I...

So is the Army paying your seminary costs?

And then do you have to be commissioned?

And serve some number of years?

Username RaphaCam, real name Raphael Camisão, Saint's name... Well, I'll only be chrismated into the Church on April 30, but I'll probably stick to St. Raphael the Archangel. I enjoy his protection and my bishop disapproves of giving new baptismal names to people whose cradle names are already that of saints. My parents are "cultural Catholics", let us say, but my girlfriend is going to become part of the Church with me.

I attend the cathedral of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church in Rio, where services are frequently held by HE Chrysostom. The whole archdiocese is basically composed of converts. I unfrequently watch some services in a Russian mission under HE Leonidas, where I'm friends with the deacon and some of the other converts.

Arsenios, are you by any chance in Washington state? My old church from before joining the Navy is there.

Good Grief!

I missed this post!

Yes, Washington State indeed!

Forgive me my blinders!

There are seven or eight canonical parishes and one monastery in Rio and the outskirts, AFAIK. :D Also one Belarusian LARP parish and one or two "Very True Real Old Calendarist Hyperdox" communities.

Hi, I'm Basil. I was on this forum about a decade ago. I converted to Orthodoxy from a protestant background about 21 years ago and currently attend an amazing OCA parish. Nice to be back on the Ancient Faith forum!

We have a 300+ pounder named Basil, so we call him Vasili...

Are you really an Appalasian Orthodox?

No, I am not Appalachian Orthodox. I've never been to the Appalachian region, nor am I very close to it....so...?

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome.

Hi, Basil,

Welcome (back) to CF and to TAW! It's very cool for me to meet someone from "way back". :) You wouldn't remember me then, since I've only been here a few years.

I have a good friend on FB named Basil but I doubt you are the same person, though your intro DOES make me think of him. Your priest wouldn't be named Fr. Stephen, would he?

It's great to have you though, and I look forward to seeing you post here. :)
