  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's a bit of tunnel vision. He had the flood because.....

Genesis 6,
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

and
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
and
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Remember, I was giving the "readers digest" version?

So, the earth would not have survived if only Noah, his wife and three sons were living with millions of the people mentioned in the above verses.

To take three wives of hybrid or imperfect DNA, which Noah chose for his sons, there is perfectly scientific basis that they could produce pure humans with human DNA only.

This would end up with a much better chance of repopulating the world with humans of Pure DNA. However, some Nephilim did show up and this confirms the "and also after that" part of ....

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Knowing that Noah chose the wives, one could speculate that their DNA, although not pure, was diluted enough to be acceptable to repopulate the earth.

Sounds like God's plan was ruined from the get-go... and He knew it.

It really was pointless genocide, after all...

Seems to me that the Earth is still filled with violence and there is plenty of evil to spare.

Maybe God should try his hand at counseling instead of genocide the next time he decides to do something about the horrendous things that are happening in this world and have been since he last made "contact" two thousand years ago. It isn't like child cancer or rape, murder, torture are new.

I wonder what he could be waiting for?

So, once again (like AV said about the jews), God's plan to keep his special people alive somehow required mass execution, despite the fact that he purportedly has unlimited power, and had any one of many peaceful solutions at his disposal...

I think, AV1611, you are laboring under some misconceptions here. The Bible was never kicked out of the schools. The Bible was never in the schools. Only church-sponsored schools offered much in the way of an education about Scripture. The US is founded upon freedom of religion. Therefore, all should have equal air time. Is the US a Christian nation? You should review carefully the founding fathers, on this matter, especially Adams, Madison, and Jefferson. They had some deep doubts about the appropriateness of Christianity in teh land of the free. They were quite outspoken that Christianity had offered only tyranny, oppression, ignorance, bloodshed, etc. And there is no doubt that the Christian religion has had a very dark side. Hnece, the Treaty of Tripoli opens by stating, "As the United States of America is not founded on the principles of the Christian religion..."You are concerned about brutality. OK, then you need to honestly review the brutality sponsored in the name of Christianity throughout history.

How much faith, Jacksbratt, do you want to put into the biblical laws as a guide for us? Remember, the OT sanctifies slavery, beating slaves, selling your daughter into slavery, etc. In fact, the sanctification of slavery found in the OT was a major rationale the South used for insisting on slavery. Jefferson Davis made a major point of this, by the way,

I don't know if I asked you this -- I can't remember -- but what would you do if you went on vacation and came home and there were squatters living in your house and refused to vacate?

QV please:
O'Hair is best known for the Murray v. Curlett lawsuit, which led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling ending official Bible-reading in American public schools in 1963.

Having gone to school in that time period, I know that there was very minimal Bible reading and certainly no real Bible study. The teacher might, note I said "might," read a few verses, and then a class prayer. That is not biblical studies at all.

Don't forget we should be sacrificing lambs and goats as well?

If not, perhaps you're just cherry-picking ... eh?

Amazing how It suddenly showed up after I posted from Wikipedia ... eh? ;)

Using it in the quick way the public schools sometimes did does not place it in the schools. The issue here was how much education students were receiving on the Bible. The answer is very little, really none at all.
Maybe you slept through it?

Perhaps O'hair, who died and went to aitch, was just wasting her time fighting It, if It wasn't [really] in the schools in the first place?

Ya, you asked me. Remember the police analogy I fixed for you? The answers you seek for these analogies put anthropomorphic limitations that wouldn't exist when it comes to God's response to "squatters."

When I point this out to you (the other day was not the first time), you tend to drop the subject.

OK, this thread is getting stupid. You live, you die, nobody cares. Deal with it, people.

Animals are given that idea.
The problem with suggesting
we are animals, is that we
do care and know it's not
correct for us.

Working fine for me.

If the genocide was pointless we would have nephilim all over the place. Instead we only have a few hundred skulls and some giant bones that the archaeological world have hidden, lost or deny. DNA from these skulls show that they are "not quite" human.

Meanwhile, the human race is 7.4 billion strong.
