CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know they are not innocent. Ask a few of them, I have given quite a few of them crap for being belligerent. However, I only do it for that which I see, so I don't comment on it every time it happens, even in threads I actively participate in.
I know I am not innocent of it either, I am just actively trying to get better about it.

Belligerence bogs down debates with nonsense and makes people less willing to put effort in their arguments. We all benefit here by trying to be civil to one another.
I am actually on here to improve my social skills; what greater challenge is there for a naturally impulsive, rude, angry person than to debate many people that strongly disagree with me and attempt to do it effectively without exploding on them? There are a small number of people that have effectively "broken" me. The last time it happened, I elected to leave the site for a while rather than have my debating suffer from my rage. Vaccines exist for a reason, if they didn't work, we would have noticed that decades ago DX DX DX UGHHHHHHHHH.
