  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What were they planning to replace it with if they managed to succeed?

Or was everyone just OK with people going back to being uninsured and unable to obtain medical care?

This is the right question.

What is their alternative plan? I'm guessing they're not trying to replace it with a single-payer system. Without having a replacement, it makes them look uncaring.

Whether he can veto it will depend on whether they can get a 2/3 majority congress can override a veto you know.

Not so... the President can veto anything... Congress needs a 2/3 majority to override the veto... which they're nowhere close to having in this case.

I've heard some talk about tax free health care savings plans. Every man for himself!

That is what I said if they were to have a 2/3 or better majority a veto would not work.

Which they won't be able to get. Not even all Republicans voted for it.
What would happen if they did the mere fact that one house got a simple majority tells me that they are getting closer; which if they repealed Obamacare ( particularly if it were replaced plenty of folks would be happy. Look I will say this that supposeding it is still there I was going to go on the exchanges next year; even if not I am grown woman enough to know that I cost more money and would support the insurance being pulled now. I am 24 ( too old to be claimed on mother's taxes so it would suit me just fine and make since if they pulled the insurance.

It is tax free meaning at least they would not touch that money.

Turn about is fair play. If the Domocats insisted that we do not know what was in theirs until it passed turn about for the Republicans doing the same thing is fair play.

Is this not the same bill Ted Cruz said in another issue (not related to this issue but was addressed briefly) that this coming bill which is the bill of OP topic of "right now" in time line yet his speech was given a month or better in the past is just "Show Politics" that has no chance but we will go through the motions of slight of hand where the common man can not tell it has no substance to it but is designed for the upcoming elections where a senator can say yea or nay on said bill in their campaigns ? Ya know, career politics?

Well, it would depend on what the people would want as to whether that vote would help or hurt them.

That is understood by these senators that have there finger on their respective states pulse, right? Some states have implemented the option of extension, expansion (Or some such term that is optional for each state that gives free aid or not to the poor). Some do some don't however this is not here or there it really comes down to "why" waist, right? Its a waist of time and energy correct, on the bill itself, but not to further a career right? This should not be used to trick common joe/mary but "is being used" in non substantives in look at us working for you (but not really though , ha ha) the people. That is the biggest lie of all to hide behind a bill that is already known it will not fly correct?
Is this not the same corruption we are trying to get rid of (and that was the main issue in Ted Cruz's speech:oldthumbsup:)? Did anyone notice in the OP article Sanders did not vote on this BS bill , ^_^ ?

Really I do not why a state or citizens would WANT to go on Medicaid.

As much as I hate the idea of being fined for not being insured (seriously, all that does is punish the people who are barely getting by as it is), unless there's a better/alternative plan being proposed then this "repeal" is just for show. I bet you anything Republicans will go "we did everything we could, but SOMEBODY *eyes Obama* HATES US and doesn't want to help the American people". Or something to that effect.

And the Republicans who are probably voting for Trump will eat that up.

Seriously even I can see what's going on here.

There's no turnabout. Nobody voted for anything they didn't have an opportunity to read. The law is the way it is to appease enough Republicans to get it passed.

Really I do not why a state or citizens would WANT to go on Medicaid.
If one has a child with medical needs, especially needs that are a matter of life and death, that parent is willing, whether they Want to or not, get that child on Medicaid, if they cannot afford to cover their care any other way.

I know two people who lost their jobs, thus their ins., and no insurance company would cover them because they had had cancer 10 yrs. before. Pre-existing condition.

+1

If health care operates like a business, we shouldn't be surprised when it looks for ways to maximize profits -- even at the expense of peoples' lives and well-being.

The politicians honestly don't expect this to succeed - you can see they have no plan in place for if it does. They just want to use it to show they kept their campaign promise to try really hard to get rid of Obamacare.
