I can understand why some think evolution is a fairy tale. The problem they have is that they are unhappy with the very humble origins it gives us. That offends their ego. However, if you take a look at Scripture, it also gives us a very humble origin, that of being created out of mud or dust, which, incidentally agrees with evolution, as fundamentally we are all made out of star dust. And if you stop and think about it, evolution appears an almost miraculous, magical kind of creation. Look, if God could make a man out of a monkey, think what he could do with a jackass like you. Also, it is not necessarily the case that only atheists believe in evolution. There are, for example, evolutionary theists. I, for one, believe that evolution would be impossible without God, and that creation is actually God's own elf-evolution from unconsciousness and pure potentiality into self-consciousness and self-actualization. Also, I am having trouble here with the remarks some are making about evidence. It is true that no one was around to directly observe the Big Bang. However, it is also true that no one was abound to directly observe God creating in six days.
