You need real evidence.
Well, I'll admit, I don't know if you're a scientist or not, but for the record, I don't care for non-scientists telling me I need evidence.

People like to act like they know how to use the scientific method against Christians, when I've exposed them here as they not even willing to use it to ascertain if their parents are really their parents -- (through DNA testing).

They just accept it on faith -- like I do -- and that's good enough for them.

As it should be.

So just put your Johnny Seven Scientific Method Kit away before you hurt yourself with it and let's talk faith instead.

How's that?

haha... you've repeatedly used the bible as evidence for your claims. No it's not ok.

I am not a scientist but I know people who are. You probably confuse confidence with faith too.

It doesn't do it justice to say it this way (in your common vernacular),
Still struggling with that term, are you? It can't be both mine and common, now, can it? Or do you not get it?
but you return: in your mind.
In your imagination? That's all nice, but what about reality?

Your awful penchant for condescension is annoying.
I thought it was rather apropos for someone who jabs at intellectual honesty at every turn. It's just the honest truth. How would you recommend putting someone in their place, when it is the truth?

I meant "not" in the "correct" vernacular, but in [your] version of common vernacular. But I did warn you that it wouldn't do it justice...so of course the common vernacular failed to be adequate. So instead of saying brain surgery, I lowered the vernacular to your level and said: booboo (so to speak)...reluctantly, of course. I would much prefer to speak openly on the level of the topic.

Anyway, NO, NOT in your imagination. Common vernacular is the problem. It's all you have to go on, and it turns the matter upside down. So...if you want to venture a go at translating the big topic with little words, let me get you started by placing you where you are: (Now you can use your imagination) Imagine you are in a dream, and you want to wake up....so..."in your mind" (not in your imagination...because remember, you are already in a dream state of your imagination) you OVERCOME your state of imagined reality...and wake up to the ACTUAL reality.

And, by the way...you deserved every bit of that.

Of course. I also don't realize that unicorns are real, the moon is made of cheese, or all sorts of other false claims.

But with that out of the way, do you have any reason I should disregard the revealed truth I'm getting telling me that you're just spouting nonsense?
You could try pinching yourself...but beware, the mind can have you believing that it actually hurts...and then what will you do?!

Life, this world, is not what it seems: this is the dream, and actual reality, only comes after you wake up.

I don't "choose" my beliefs.

I can't rationally believe something that doesn't convince me. Nore can I force myself to believe things that don't convince me.
Life is not what it seems, not even scientifically. That being the case, how is it that you "rationally" determine ANYTHING? That's like rationalizing the contents of a dream. And rationality is your position? Really?

All of us who [know God] is real...know that this world is like a dream...and we are just trying to say...you might want to wake up and come to the understanding of the actual reality.

But, hey, roll over and go back to sleep. I love sleep. Just don't believe in living there.

Since discussing anything intelligibly requires the acceptance of logical fallacies, I'm left with no choice but to ignore anything you say regarding Philosophy, or most anything else for that matter.
Yeah, just as well, I don't get a word of what you are saying either.

"Logical fallacy"...is that like a smart error, or a strategic blunder...or something?

And you lived 2000 years ago, correct?

I think I see a wonderfully consistent and coherent theme in play here..........
That hourglass (time) is getting in the way of you seeing things as they really are. Time is an illusion. I live. I am.

I can assure you hell and god is no more real than your talking donkey and your virgin birth too. Did you know nuns still occasionally claim that god made them pregnant... ahem.

again, the bible is the claim, not the evidence.
We claim what we know.

On the contrary, it is not possible for you to claim what you do not know. Your credibility is void.

Davian, I'm not going to sit here and defend the fact that children aren't born atheists.

That's just wrong on ten different levels.

Do atheists abort their own?
I am not talking about children, I am asking about you.

Is belief a conscious choice for you? Can you decide, right now, that gods are nothing more than characters in books?

Coming from you that doesn't surprise me.
Do you have any constructive comments to make?

And you continue to post absurd comments...
We were talking about what negative claims are.

Your posts have nothing whatsoever to do with the points that were being discussed.

I meant "not" in the "correct" vernacular, but in [your] version of common vernacular.
You still don't get it.
But I did warn you that it wouldn't do it justice...so of course the common vernacular failed to be adequate.
Not my problem that you make your posts incoherent.

So...if you want to venture a go at translating the big topic with little words,
The common venacular is about common word usage, not about word complexity or length. Perhaps you cannot see that from that very high horse that you rode in on.
let me get you started by placing you where you are: (Now you can use your imagination) Imagine you are in a dream, and you want to wake up....so..."in your mind" (not in your imagination...because remember, you are already in a dream state of your imagination) you OVERCOME your state of imagined reality...and wake up to the ACTUAL reality.
"Actual" reality, being what you claim it to be? That there actually was a "God" that walked and talked in a garden that has no evidence of having existed, poofed people and animals into existence, and later, in a manner contrary to the modern understanding of genetics, populated the planet with a tiny group of individuals and animals that survived a global flood in an unbuildable boat, a flood that killed the dinosaurs in a manner that only *appears* to be 65 million years ago, because the Earth is really only somehow 6000 years old, yet remains, by every objective measure to date indistinguishable from nothing?

Is that what I am supposed to wake up to?
And, by the way...you deserved every bit of that.
Every bit of what? Your incoherent assertions and condescension? Just an everyday part of being here in these forums. :)

I'm truly sad for you.

Soooo, you're in the Philosophy forum, and you don't know what a logical fallacy is? Wow. That's like being in an automotive forum and not knowing what a motor is. Seriously, pick up an actual Philosophy book.

As long as we are repeating...that just means you are convinced by the dream (the illusion) of a world which is not what it seems.

I just answered life's biggest question: What is life all about? ...and you just reverted back to your dream state. :(

Life is about...waking up from the illusion.
