• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why dont SDA's and Sabbath keepers also keep the Feast Days of Leviticus 23 too???

Actually, they said nothing of the kind about your oft-repeated "bending the commandment." What they said was that Christianity's First Day commemoration of the Resurrection had completely replaced the 7th Day Jewish Sabbath.

Until we read the Baptist Confession of Faith stating that the day was "changed" for the 4th commandment in section 22.

Until we read D.L. Moody applying the 4th commandment to week-day-1 --- in that link numbered 150.

Here is a great example of that 7 point list coming up in D.L.Moody's sermon on the TEN Commandments -

============================

Case in point -- Here is what D.L. Moody actually said --

Here is an example of one of the "bend the commandment" but do not get rid of it - arguments.

=============================== D.L. Moody sermon on the TEN Commandments

Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and Earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath Day, and hallowed it.

THERE HAS BEEN an awful letting-down in this country regarding the Sabbath during the last twenty-five years, and many a man has been shorn of spiritual power, like Samson, because he is not straight on this question. Can you say that you observe the Sabbath properly? You may be a professed Christian: are you obeying this commandment? Or do you neglect the house of God on the Sabbath day, and spend your time drinking and carousing in places of vice and crime, showing contempt for God and His law? Are you ready to step into the scales? Where were you last Sabbath? How did you spend it?

I honestly believe that this commandment is just as binding today as it ever was. I have talked with men who have said that it has been abrogated, but they have never been able to point to any place in the Bible where God repealed it. When Christ was on earth, He did nothing to set it aside; He freed it from the traces under which the scribes and Pharisees had put it, and gave it its true place.
"The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27)
It is just as practicable and as necessary for men today as it ever was- in fact, more than ever, because we live in such an intense age.

The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since. The fourth commandment begins with the word remember, showing that the Sabbath already existed when God wrote this law on the tables of stone at Sinai.
How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they will admit that the other nine are still binding?

I believe that the Sabbath question today is a vital one for the whole country. It is the burning question of the present time. If you give up the Sabbath the church goes; if you give up the church the home goes; and if the home goes the nation goes. That is the direction in which we are traveling.

The church of God is losing its power on account of so many people giving up the Sabbath, and using it to promote selfishness.

HOW TO OBSERVE THE SABBATH

"Sabbath" means "rest," and the meaning of the word gives a hint as to the true way to observe the day. God rested after creation, and ordained the Sabbath as a rest for man. He blessed it and hallowed it. Remember the rest-day to keep it holy.

No wonder then I am in agreement with them on only 6 of their 7 points.

1. That the Sabbath Commandment is first given to mankind in Gen 2:1-3
2. That all mankind was obligated by the TEN commandments in the OT and to this very day.
3. That the seventh day as the Sabbath was Saturday the seventh day of the week from Gen 2:1-3 until NT times - including at the cross.
4. That the Ten Commandments are the moral Law of God
5. That the moral law of God is written on the heart under the New Covenant
6. that the Ten Commandments as the moral law of God are in no way opposed to grace and the Gospel.
7. That the Sabbath commandment can rightly be BENT by man-made-tradition to point to week-day-1 after the cross.

I don't claim to agree with all 7 of the points that the BCF is making - only 6 out of the 7 do I agree with.

But there are many on this board who are at war with all 7.

Your use of them as sources is willfully deceitful and utterly dishonest. They would be horrified and livid that their quotes could be used to support the revival of a satanic and anti-Christian heresy that Christianity had destroyed 2,000 years ago.

Christianity commemorates the Resurrection on Sunday and on Easter. It has done so since the First year of Christianity.

Judaizing and Ebionite anti-Christian heretics insist on commemorating the Jewish 7th Day Sabbath. They still do. But that is NOT Christianity.

ALL of your sources merely endorse what Christianity has been teaching for 2,000 years. NONE of them support your focus on the Sabbath one tiny bit. They ALL reject your absurd legalistic arguments in favor of the 7th Day Sabbath. For you to deceitfully claim that they support your ridiculous and repetitive Sabbath Spam arguments is incredibly dishonest and it willfully misrepresents their positions. I've no doubt they'd be horrified that their statements were being used to revive an anti-Christian heresy that Christianity condemned and defeated 2,000 years ago.

I am glad the following authorities stand for precisely the OPPOSITE of what is deceitfully-misrepresented by the Sabbath Spam Posters. All of these authorities actually RENOUNCE 7th Day Sabbath Keeping and support the Christian view that has been renouncing the Ebionite and Judaizing heresies for the last 2,000 years.

Baptist Confession of Faith
"From the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ this was the last day of the week, and from the resurrection of Christ it was changed to the first day of the week and called the Lord's Day. This is to be continued until the end of the world as the Christian Sabbath, the observation of the last day of the week having been abolished.
The Baptist Confession of Faith (1689)

Westminster Confession of Faith
"As it is the law of nature, that, in general, a due proportion of time be set apart for the worship of God; so, in His Word, by a positive, moral, and perpetual commandment binding all men in all ages, He has particularly appointed one day in seven, for a Sabbath, to be kept holy unto him:[34] which, from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, was the last day of the week: and, from the resurrection of Christ, was changed into the first day of the week,[35] which, in Scripture, is called the Lord's Day,[36] and is to be continued to the end of the world, as the Christian Sabbath.
Westminster Confession of Faith

DWIGHT MOODY

"When I was a boy, the Sabbath lasted from sundown on Saturday to sundown on Sunday....."
....
"A man ought to turn aside from his ordinary employment one day in seven. There are many whose occupation will not permit them to observe Sunday, but they should observe some other day as a Sabbath."
.....
"A Christian man was once urged by his employer to work on Sunday. "Does not your Bible say that if your ass falls into a pit on the Sabbath you may pull him out?"

"If working men got up a strike for no work on Sunday, they would have the sympathy of a good many."
How Shall We Spend the Sabbath? by Dwight L. Moody

R.C Sproul

"And whatever was temporary about the Mosaic Sabbath must be left behind as the reality of the intimate communion of the Adamic Sabbath is again experienced in our worship of the risen Savior on the first day of the week — the Lord’s Day.

MATHEW HENRY

"The day and time in which he had this vision: it was the Lord’s day, the day which Christ had separated and set apart for himself, as the eucharist is called the Lord’s supper. Surely this can be no other than the Christian Sabbath, the first day of the week, to be observed in remembrance of the resurrection of Christ. Let us who call him our Lord honour him on his own day, the day which the Lord hath made and in which we ought to rejoice."
The Sabbath -- Saturday or Sunday?

THOMAS WATSON

"Our Christian Sabbath comes in the room of the Jewish Sabbath: it is called the Lord's day, Rev. i.10. from Christ the author of it. Our Sabbath is altered by Christ's own appointment. He arose this day out of the grave, and appeared on it often to His disciples, 1 Cor. xvi. 1: to intimate to them (saith Athanasius) that he transferred the Sabbath to the Lord's day. And St. Austin saith that by Christ's rising on the first day of the week, it was consecrated to be the Christian Sabbath, in remembrance of his resurrection.

The Christian Soldier by Thomas Watson - Part 6 - by sanctifying the Lord' Day and holy conversation

CATHOLIC CATECHISM
2174 Jesus rose from the dead "on the first day of the week."104 Because it is the "first day," the day of Christ's Resurrection recalls the first creation. Because it is the "eighth day" following the sabbath,105 it symbolizes the new creation ushered in by Christ's Resurrection. For Christians it has become the first of all days, the first of all feasts, the Lord's Day (he kuriake hemera, dies dominica) Sunday:
Catechism of the Catholic Church - The third commandment

"Seventh Day Adventists deny the resurrection by observing the Sabbath. We come to church on Sunday, the Lord's Day, to worship Him who "died for our sins, and rose again for our justification." We worship a living Savior, and with thanksgiving, can sing:
"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!"
If I worship Christ on Saturday I deny that His work is finished, that He is a resurrected, living Savior.

Your use of them as sources is willfully deceitful and utterly <factless rant deleted here>.

As noted even D.L. Moody refers to this as the "4th Commandment" and the "Sabbath" as he bends it to point to week-day-1. No amount of your ranting will erase the text of Moody's sermon on the 4th Commandment -- as it turns out.

So also does the BCF appeal to a "CHANGE" in the "still binding" 4th commandment so that it now points to week-day-1 via the man-made traditions of the magisterium - a practice Christ Himself fully condemned in Mark 7:6-13

Instead of deceitfully using sources that vigorously-denounce your discredited heretical views on the Sabbath, why not use your OWN totally-embarassing Prophet as a source to justify your position? Is she really THAT embarrassing? What does it say about a founding "Prophet" when the members of her own Church deceitfully refuse to disclose their REAL source? Since you completely lack the ability to disclose candidly where your aberrant and anti-Christian views on the Sabbath came from, I will do it for you. Using the source that really does describe how you view the Sabbath:

"Jesus raised the cover of the ark, and I beheld the tables of stone on which the Ten Commandments were written. I was amazed as I saw the fourth commandment in the very center of the ten precepts with a soft halo of light encircling it. Said the angel, 'It is the only one of the ten which defines the living God who created the heavens and the earth and all things that are there[bless and do not curse]in."' ("Life Sketches of Ellen G. White,"Pages 95 and 96.)
......
"The four on the first table shone brighter than the other six. But the fourth, the Sabbath commandment, shone above them all; for the Sabbath was set apart to be kept in honor of God's holy name. The holy Sabbath looked glorious a halo of glory was all around it." ("Early Writings of Ellen G. White," page 33.

On second thought, I can fully-sympathize with your obvious discomfort disclosing your inspiration from a prophet that is universally denounced as a pathological liar, an inveterate literally thief, and a false prophet. But still......

Yet it is CLEAR that her "vision" was not from God and that she lied, and your Church is founded on an easily-refuted doctrinal fraud since we have the words of Christ that sharply contradict her statements:

Mark 12:28-35
New International Version (NIV)
The Greatest Commandment

28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c] There is no commandment greater than these.”

32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

<obligatory factless rant deleted here...> why not use your OWN sources

I can't be blamed for the fact that your own pro-sunday groups denounce your idea of war against God's Ten Commandments including your opposition to the 4th commandment. Why should I select more sources - when your own sunday-groups denounce your opposition to God's Ten Commandments? Where is the incentive?

Which is exactly what I have said about them - as we saw here - #149 with the 7 point list that they always affirm. (The same seven point list that we also find here -- #2)

And here #150 -- with an example of D.L. Moody affirming those very same 7 points

And of Course here - #67 where the Baptist Confession of faith affirms those very same 7 points.

And now we have this post #152 where the BCF language about the "CHANGE" to the still binding 4th commandment is being claimed.

And of course even the Catholics seem to love all SEVEN of the primary Baptist Confession of Faith points on the TEN commandments. #167

Seven points - where ALL those at war with God's Ten Commandments - find themselves at war with all 7 points listed.

From-Scratch -- As it turns out - "details matter" when in a debate discussion.

And all of them admit that the moral law of God is at the heart of the Jer 31:31-33 "New Covenant"

In the mean time even the pro-Sunday sources below denounce your war on God's Ten Commandments.

Bob

^_^^_^LOL!! Oh, wow!!--Well pass the bacon, I must be a mind reader, how did I guess what the posts would be saying??!!--Or is it that they always peat and repeat?--
Now, I guess we just haven't figured out that ya'all don't believe in the Sabbath--Imagine that, we had no idea!! We thought the whole thing was just about all the commandments, not just the sabbath one--Bob Ryan keeps stating that these other Christian faiths all state that the 10 commandments are still in effect and some people keep repeating that these other faiths do not believe in the 7th day Sabbath--Really??--So they state the 10 commandments are still in effect, but the rhetoric keeps harping on the fact they don't believe in the 7th day sabbath---WE KNOW THAT!! The statement is that these other faiths all believe in the 7 points as Bob has posted--we believe in 6 of those points--but the other points are ignored and only the point of the 7th day is trumpted as everybody not believing in---again--WE KNOW THAT!! I'm repeating myself though--

As I said, and as "Bob" quoted me, some of us celebrate the Sabbath and holy days. And, I am not "necessarily" SDA. Celebrating the Sabbath and holy days isn't exclusive to SDA. Nondenominational Christian do it too. If you look close enough, Melanesians have festivals on the same time as the holy days of the OT.

1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Isa 1:11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
Isa 1:12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
Isa 1:13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Isa 1:14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
Isa 1:15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Isa 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Isa 1:17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

It is unfortunate that so simple a thing can be made so complicated. We are saved by grace, not by works--plain and simple. We obey God out of love for Him. Obedience is something that God does want, prefers to lipservice. We keep saying, Christ is the High Priest, He is the Sacrificial Lamb, it is His blood that saves us--no animal sacrifices are needed anymore and yet some people keep insisting that the sacrifices must still be done because we keep the sabbath--that is ludicris beyond believe. The 7th day sabbath no longer requires an animal sacrice--period. What is so hard to understand about that??--But some people keep insisting we should still kill animals--not what the bible says. The other Levitical feasts were also called sabbaths--It matters not to me that Juadism says that we must keep the Levitical laws because we believe in the 10 commandments--that's they're problem, not ours. It doesn't matter that anyone thinks we should keep all the feasts because we keep the 10 commandments, that's their problem, not ours. For those of us who have responded to the light of the 7th day Sabbath as opposed to the 1st day it is a light that we choose to keep and I don't care if no one else thinks so--we're stating what God says.
It doesn't matter diddleysquat that anyone thinks we're a bunch of hypocrites for obey the commands of God--all of them, and not just the 10--we prefer to walk in the light that Christ shown on the 10 commandments, that even if you harbor lust in your heart you have commited adultry--it's the spritual obedience that God prefers, not just the outward show. It is believing in all that Christ has commanded, including to teach others, including all that He said in His sermon on the Mount--the beatitutes--
Yes we believe in tithing--it is how the ministry is kept, it is as God set it up from the start, including in the old testament. It is to keep the ministers of God doing what they need to so they do not have to "make tents" as well as preach and teach the Gospel and tend to the church. Offering are what keeps God's plans going for helping the poor, the sick, for education, for health facilities, for publishing, for everything that can help in the spreading of His message. It is for hospitals, and univeristies to train doctors, for our Disaster Relief Agency which helps so many with food, clothing, medical help during disasters. These things are world wide, not just in American, of just in our own little communities. It's ok if some people prefer to just receive what God has to offer and sit in their pews and patting themselves for being "free" from such incumberances, we prefer to sacrifice what is needed to give to others, not just take from God. The tithes and offerings are really for our benefit, always have been, it keeps people from becoming "free" to be selfish, self-centered, greedy, holding on to their every penny for themselves instead of to help others. The widows mite meant more to Christ than all the show of the Pharasees proclaiming how great and generous they were when they were really shallow, empty vessels not willing to sacrifice any comfort for the sake of others. We believe in the fact that we are here to bring as many people to salvation and to heal and help the suffering of others and not to just indulge ourselves--this is only our temporary home, our true homes God is preparing.

Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Rev 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Rev 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
Rev 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

Got a problem with the concept of a heavenly temple?--We don't. Christ, the Sacrificial Lamb, our High Priest, is on the right hand of God's throne, which is in the Heavenly temple.

Your use and meaning of this departs from the context of Moody.

As usual - you make the wild accusation and then follow with no facts, no evidence, not shred of support -- the accusation alone appears to satisfy your method and tactic.

By contrast here is what Moody actually said showing all 7 points mentioned. #722

Here is a great example of that 7 point list coming up in D.L.Moody's sermon on the TEN Commandments -

============================

"Sabbath" means "rest," and the meaning of the word gives a hint as to the true way to observe the day. God rested after creation, and ordained the Sabbath as a rest for man. He blessed it and hallowed it. Remember the rest-day to keep it holy.

This obsession with the Ten Commandments and nothing but the Ten Commandments is completely OPPOSITE of Christianity. It is very very deceptive. Someone as sophisticated as Walter Martin was conned big time in an extremely well-choreographed and organized wave of deception. Adventism temporarily pulled out the stops to avoid the "cult" label, which would have been devastating. It even published a extraordinarily deceptive book to snow Martin called "Questions on Doctrine." which was temporarily in print, to get Martin off their back. Martin was constantly pressing them to reprint the book and make it available, after it was obviously abandoned after its incredibly deceitful purpose was accomplished.

That's why when Bob deceptively insists on their "Fundamental Beliefs," it is a skillful and deceitful diversionary tactic. The FB in no way honestly reflect what their REAL beliefs are. That's why when I posted the bizarre and insane Ellen White quote, where she literally makes the Ten Commandments into the 4th person of the Godhead, he deceptively doesn't answer or respond. That's the reason every single post of his is about the Ten Commandments: There simply is NOTHING even close to the importance of them. The Ten Commandments FAR FAR outstrip Jesus Christ, the Cross and the Resurrection in importance. Jesus is basically Satan's brother, and they are equally powerful and equally important. Our perfect Sabbath Keeping gives him just the slightest of edges over the powers of darkness. For over 100 years after the founding of the cult, outright heretical Arianism was taught. That has been replaced by a deceptive "Tri-theism" that grudgingly recognizes the Divinity of Christ without taking too much focus off of the Ten Commandments.

THAT'S the deceitful reason for the mono-focus on the Sabbath. Virtually NOTHING was accomplished on the Cross and with the Resurrection. THAT'S why little kids are discouraged from even having a few jelly beans on Easter. Jesus's primary purpose on earth was to restore the Sabbath, after it had been "corrupted" by rules and regulations and "man-made" interpretations. ANYTHING that points out that Christians from virtually the first Sunday after the Resurrection changed their Day of Worship is deceitfully ignored or dishonestly downplayed. Jesus's crucifixion is something we are to emulate with perfect Sabbath Keeping and vegetarianism. Adventism in reality is the slow drip of Chinese water torture, a slow death by a thousand cuts. It is very very depressing.

Why this is allowed on a Christian web site just baffles me. Plainly, the Apostles pulled out the stops to condemn both the First Century Judaizing heresy, and the Second century Ebionite heresy, which are both virtually identical to Adventism.

I am glad the following authorities stand for precisely the OPPOSITE of what is deceitfully-misrepresented by the Sabbath Spam Posters. All of these authorities actually RENOUNCE 7th Day Sabbath Keeping and support the Christian view that has been condemning the Ebionite and Judaizing heresies for the last 2,000 years. The Sabbath spammers are so embarrassed and humiliated by their own "Prophet" and her unbiblical "vision" about the 4th Commandment that they deceitfully use the following sources instead. The following sources would be horrified and outraged to know that they were being used in such a deceptive manner:

The problem with quoting from extra-Biblical sources becomes obvious, when you see some selected quotes claiming 'Sunday sources' don't affirm God's redemption from the old covenant -the Ten Commandments- concurrent with the same sources openly rejecting the Sabbath codified in the old covenant uniformly. These aren't inspired sources, and their lack of inspiration manifests in contradictions that no one can reconcile with each other. This has been the basis for your and BobRyan's arguments.

Meanwhile, the early church was never given a commandment to observe the Sabbath - which was your burden of proof to deliver from the text of Acts 15. Remember, you're the one who claimed that this historical passage did just that. There's no point in repeating the rhetoric Adventism relies on.

So you're content dissecting the old covenant into a non-Holy rendition of the Sabbath and keep the Sabbath unHoly. Yep. That's what you're calling obedience. Even BobRyan doesn't approve:
In the mean time even the pro-Sunday sources below denounce your war on God's Ten Commandments.
Both of you have indicated you have no intention of keeping the Sabbath Holy according to the Law that ordained it. And, your hypocrisy was exposed long ago:
The forked tongue of Adventism wants us to embrace the oral covenant contents spoken in Exodus 20, but wants us to reject the equally binding oral contents spoken in Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23. But then in a confused move, the forked tongue of Adventism wants us to embrace the oral commandment spoken in Leviticus 23 to have a sorta-holy convocation on Saturday, and embrace the oral commandment spoken in Exodus 35 to leave the kitchen stove off on Saturday.

In hypocrisy you want to criticize the Law itself when it suits you. As it is Written, "if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge".
And your claim of "We are saved by grace, not by works" directly contradicts the "continuing and authoritative source of truth" codified in SDA Fundamental Belief #18, as pointed out before:
Quit pretending to mix Christianity and Judaism and call the resulting Adventist rendition 'christianity' when it is a synthesis that is no longer either. Adventist dependence on the old covenant for its soteriology was already shown to you by the Pen of Liability:
Testimonies for the Church
Volume Two, page 693, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: No Probation After Christ Comes

As we have followed down the chain of prophecy, revealed truth for our time has been clearly seen and explained. We are accountable for the privileges that we enjoy and for the light that shines upon our pathway. Those who lived in past generations were accountable for the light which was permitted to shine upon them. Their minds were exercised in regard to different points of Scripture which tested them. But they did not understand the truths which we do. They were not responsible for the light which they did not have. They had the Bible, as we have; but the time for the unfolding of special truth in relation to the closing scenes of this earth's history is during the last generations that shall live upon the earth. Special truths have been adapted to the conditions of the generations as they have existed. The present truth, which is a test to the people of this generation, was not a test to the people of generations far back. If the light which now shines upon us in regard to the Sabbath of the fourth commandment had been given to the generations in the past, God would have held them accountable for that light. When the temple of God was opened in heaven, John saw in holy vision a class of people whose attention was arrested and who were looking with reverential awe at the ark, which contained the law of God. The special test upon the fourth commandment did not come until after the temple of God was opened in heaven. Those who died before the light was given upon the law of God and the claims of the fourth commandment were not guilty of the sin of violating the seventh-day Sabbath. The wisdom and mercy of God in dispensing light and knowledge at the proper time, as the people need it, is unsearchable. Previous to His coming to judge the world in righteousness, He sends forth a warning to arouse the people and call their attention to their neglect of the fourth commandment, that they may be enlightened, and may repent of their transgression of His law, and prove their allegiance to the great Lawgiver. He has made provision that all may be holy and happy if they choose. Sufficient light has been given to this generation, that we may learn what our duties and privileges are, and enjoy the precious and solemn truths in their simplicity and power.

To show Ellen's dependence on 1844, I will include this quote from Early Writings, Pg 42-43:
Sabbath, March 24, 1849, we had a sweet and very interesting meeting with the brethren at Topsham, Maine. The Holy Ghost was poured out upon us, and I was taken off in the Spirit to the city of the living God. Then I was shown that the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ relating to the shut door could not be separated, and that the time for the commandments of God to shine out with all their importance, and for God’s people to be tried on the Sabbath truth, was when the door was opened in the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary, where the ark is, in which are contained the ten commandments. This door was not opened until the mediation of Jesus was finished in the holy place of the sanctuary in 1844. Then Jesus rose up and shut the door of the holy place, and opened the door into the most holy, and passed within the second veil, where He now stands by the ark, and where the faith of Israel now reaches.

I saw that Jesus had shut the door of the holy place, and no man can open it; and that He had opened the door into the most holy, and no man can shut it (Revelation 3:7, 8); [see page 86. See also appendix.] and that since Jesus has opened the door into the most holy place, which contains the ark, the commandments have been shining out to God’s people, and they are being tested on the Sabbath question.

I saw that the present test on the Sabbath could not come until the mediation of Jesus in the holy place was finished and He had passed within the second veil; therefore Christians who fell asleep before the door was opened into the most holy, when the midnight cry was finished, at the seventh month, 1844, and who had not kept the true Sabbath, now rest in hope; for they had not the light and the test on the Sabbath which we now have since that door was opened. I saw that Satan was tempting some of God’s people on this point. Because so many good Christians have fallen asleep in the triumphs of faith and have not kept the true Sabbath, they were doubting about its being a test for us now.
Ellen White's soteriology revolves around the Sabbath she failed to keep Holy according the Law that ordained it. This is evident in these quotes provided below that show the Adventist formula for 'salvation' to be compliance with the old covenant from Mount Sinai you don't acknowledge God's redemption from:
No one is saved who is a transgressor of the law of God, which is the foundation of his government in heaven and in earth. {RH June 17, 1890, par. 8}

It means eternal salvation to keep the Sabbath holy unto the Lord. God says: "Them that honor Me I will honor." 1 Samuel 2:30. {6T 356.4}

But if we turn aside from the fourth commandment, so positively given by God, to adopt the inventions of Satan, voiced and acted by men under his control, we cannot be saved. We cannot with safety receive his traditions and subtleties as truth. {RH, July 6, 1897 par. 4}

No one who disregards the fourth commandment, after becoming enlightened in regard to the claims of the Sabbath, can be held guiltless in the sight of God. {RH, July 6, 1897 par. 14}

All will be judged according to the light that has shone upon them. If they have light upon the Sabbath, they cannot be saved in rejecting that light.{HS 234.3}

As persons become convinced from the Scriptures that the claims of the fourth commandment are still binding, the question is often raised, Is it necessary in order to secure salvation that we keep the Sabbath? This is a question of grave importance. If the light has shone from the word of God, if the message has been presented to men, as it was to Pharaoh, and they refuse to heed that message, if they reject the light, they refuse to obey God, and cannot be saved in their disobedience. {RH, January 5, 1886 par. 2}

“God requires of all His subjects obedience, entire obedience to all His commandments. He demands now as ever perfect righteousness as the only title to heaven. Christ is our hope and our refuge. His righteousness is imputed only to the obedient!” (Review & Herald, Sept. 21, 1886)

"Christ does not lessen the claims of the law. In unmistakable language He presents obedience to it as the condition of eternal life—the same condition that was required of Adam before his Fall. The Lord expects no less of the soul now than He expected of man in Paradise, perfect obedience, unblemished righteousness. The requirement under the covenant of grace is just as broad as the requirement made in Eden—harmony with God’s law, which is holy, just, and good." (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 391)
How much clearer does it need to be that the SDA church adopts a formula of 'salvation' by compliance to the old covenant? This is not a Christian organization that recognizes God's redemption from the covenant from Mount Sinai, and having one foot in the tenets of Judaism while giving lipservice to our Redeemer is their form of promoting adultery. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.
SDA soteriology and eschatology both depend on compliance with the old covenant's Sabbath commandment, the basis Ellen White postulated for the Investigative Judgment. That's why your obsession with the Sabbath exists, even though the SDA rendition wages war on the genuine Sabbath ordained in the Law. This is the same Law God's redeemed children have been delivered from, which has never been a part of the SDA testimony.

I see you are once again obliquely and subtly referring to my Patent Pending description of the Anodyne, Americanized, Process-Cheez-Whiz-on-Wonder-White-Bread; Doritos-is-gourmet-Mexican-food; Disneyfied-cultural-artifact-Second-Temple-slumming; Pizza-Hut-Is-An-Italian-Restaurant-Adventist-Brand-Sabbath Product.

I do not mind you borrowing the gist of my concept. I only ask that you give credit where it is due.

Oh, you can't patent an observation that has existed in the public domain for hundreds of years :p

Okay then. But is it too much to ask for you to send me $5? It took quite a lot of agonizing and meticulous copying just to get those ®™©℗ symbols to implant. My left eye feels like it is starting to hemorrhage from the intense eye strain.
