  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

America has always enjoy many blessing, but they have always held to Christian principles. In the last 20 years America has abandon many of those principles, and also in the last 20 years there have been more disasters then ever in American history. Once unthinkable attacks being carried out on American soil now happen often, most recently the Boston bombings I believe. The weather has produced many natural disasters, everyone blames global warming, but is global warming the cause or is it Americas with draw from Christian principles. It always get me people yell separation of church and state and push God out of everything, yet they still say God bless America, really. My question is you don't want God in your life but you do want His blessing it does not work that way.

I think all that has been happening in America is a warning about where we are headed. I think God is telling us if you do not turn back to him He will leave us to our fate. Much like the way he warned Israel. I wonder if any one realizes the reason America had it so good was because of God. We were "one nation under God" now they want to remove that part in quotes i just said.It seems to me no one has stopped and thought what might happen if God left America. the president says God Bless America and then says yes to gay marriage. America has become spoiled and like a spoiled child, they want to do everything there way yet still receive the blessing and great life they had. In short they want their cake and want to eat it to.

I guess time will tell if I am right, but i see bad things for America if they stay on this path of Godlessness. More natural disasters, more attack by our enemies, more crime, more financial difficulty. Any one else see this?

Are you kidding the country was founded on Christian principles. The people came here to escape the the church of England which said they could not have Bibles, so Congress first book it printed was the Bible KJV, Funny how younger people don't know the history of America and its Christians roots.

God was with us during both world wars other wise you would be speaking German right now.

Yay, time to rewrite history.

Are you kidding the country was founded on Christian principles. The people came here to escape the the church of England which said they could not have Bibles,
It is a bit more involved than that, there is the fallout from the removal and reinstatement of the British Monarchy the Puritans found themselves on the wrong side of history, with their preference for the Geneva Bible and objection to the Book of Common Prayer among other things they were not overly welcome in England which under the monarchy again was pushing to make the KJV the only available Bible in the common tongue and a rigidity in worship and prayer through the use of BCP.

so Congress first book it printed was the Bible KJV, Funny how younger people don't know the history of America and its Christians roots.
That's an irrelevance, and a rather contrived one at that, if the first book that Congress printed was the Qu'ran it would have no effect on whether America was Christian or not. A nation simply cannot have a religious affiliation while condemning theocracy as a misguided concept.

God was with us during both world wars other wise you would be speaking German right now.
I would actually think that the extinguishing of the Church in general to make way for a nationalism which is so virulent to be as deadly and self-destructive as Catharism would have been more of concern to God than merely the protection of "'Murica land o' God" as now faith said God is not a respecter of persons, I would go further to state that God is not concerned with nations but rather with his Church.

Why yes...it's common knowledge that Jesus is only America's Messiah. The rest of the world? Pffffttttt....pagans....

You know if you don't like what I post don't respond, you always have some smart butt comment to make. You must feel very bad about yourself. I don't see your comments as Christian or productive, every vain word we speak we will answers for some more than others.

Open forums are open to any response. Sorry you don't like my response, but it's spot on. Suck it up and deal with it. Don't pout about it.

For some reason or another, many American Christians (such as yourself) have their blinders on, and can't envision Christianity outside the borders of the U.S.

My eyes open to all kinds of things after i was baptized in 2012. I had been saved for 30 years, but once i came out of the water The Holy Spirit hit me and wow, is all i can say wow.

I see so you think being a jerk all the time is the best way to get your point across umm no. Happen to know a little psychology and those that act that way are always unhappy with themselves.

So I can not "envision Christianity out side the U.S" and that is because I started a post dealing with Christianity in America so because i focus on my country I have left out the world. right? ever think maybe my post was just to speak about America and not the world? Hence the titled America.

So you have falsely judged me. Thou shall not bare false witness.

By America, do you mean the USA? Canadians, Mexicans, Brazilians, Peruvians, Colombians, Bolivians, Argentinians, Venezuelans, Chileans, Ecuadorians, Paraguayans, Uruguayans, Guyanas, Surinameans, French Guianaeans, Falkland Islanders, Belizeans, Costa Ricans, El Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, Nicaraguans and Panamanians are all "Americans," based on geography.

This blew me away...

So you have falsely judged me. Thou shall not bare false witness.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Oh, and why did you feel the need to post the same thread on every major forum of this website the other day? Seems like trolling. Just saying...

^_^ I'll PM you my address, I want some of the koolaid that you've been drinking. Ever consider that for a starting country that a great way to bring in some revenue would be to print a bunch of Bibles and keep the PR high? Yep, sounds like a great business decision to me.

All I have to do is look at how the Indians were treated and KNOW this country was NOT founded on Christian principles, but on democracy...which is man's doing.

God is no respected of persons.

Exactly!

5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”[a] 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism.

oh ok you want to judge the settlers as not Christian because of the actions of some, funny.

Yeah you forget they were fleeing the church of England. Or that the first laws were taken from the Bible. I guess Jews were not Jews because they did some bad things too.

So by your judgement you are not a Christian if you do bad things, or if people around you do bad things? is that right? Now I am sure you have done bad things. See what happens when you pass judgement you judge your self. for the measure you measure to a man shall be measured to you.

You don't know but it used to be prayer every morning in school. My Dad was speaking of this to me the other day. I said to him Dad you know many young people today do not even know of the Christian back ground of the USA. He said really I thought everyone new that, we were taught this in schools. I said nope, He was amazed. You been taking in to much bull and now you don't know what is truth or not.

so does this mean that if we turned back to God all of this would go away and if so how will we know; since we still will not all be Christians in this country?

Actions of some? Come on man. How about the actions of many?

The first laws were not taken from the Bible, they were carried over from English Common Law.

If no measurement is passed then how is law formed?

I've had my good share of colonial history.

How about you give this a read...sounds like that you might benefit from it

Religion in Colonial America: Trends, Regulations, and Beliefs | Give Bigotry No Sanction - Exploring Religious Freedom - Facing History and Ourselves

Now tell me slavery is the "Christian thing to do."

Slavery was not a good thing but you forget the north did not precipitate or the west. why is it everything in the U.S. comes back to slavery. The U.S was always head to a better place it always had people who were willing to fight for what was right. Now however, people think what is right is to take God out of everything and push worship of him back to the closets.
