  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What have you understood about the charcater of The Ten Commandments??

What do you understand about the Ten Commandments?

  • The ten Commandments belong to God

  • The Ten Commandments belong to Moses.

  • The principles of the Ten commandments are restricted to a time period.

  • The principles of the Ten Commandments are/were for all times.

  • Jesus/God wrote the Ten Commandments.

  • Moses wrote the Ten Commandments

  • All men will be judged by the principles of the Ten Commandments.

  • Only the Jews will be judge by the principles of the Ten Commandments.

  • The principles of the Ten Commandments is what Jesus meant will not change. Mat 5:17-19.

  • A Christians can be saved without living up to the principles of the Ten Commandments

So you are saying God told us not to kill so that we will know that we are what? He told us to worship Him only so that we may know that we are idol worshiper? He told us not to commit adultery so that we may know what? That we will know that we will always be adulterers? God told us to honor our mothers and fathers because He knew that we will ignore them and look to collect they goods after they die?

Moses asks the rhetorical question found in Deuteronomy 4:8... "what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?".
The question is no longer rhetorical for you, Elder111. Answer Moses.

God says keep the Sabbath.
The Sabbath is the test. The tree in the mist of the Garden. That person have to decide on.

The Law hasn't kept you from bearing false witness with these untenable, unsupported statements that permeate each and every thread you engage in.

God says keep the Sabbath.

May I ask what model time machine do you have? I thought we are living in the Church age.

The Law to live by all it says, was given to only Israel in that manner.. which was a nation to be set up as a theocracy under God.

Do we get manna coming down daily? Yes... but now its to be the daily bread of the Word of God. Do we keep the Sabbath by resting from our work? Yes, but now we rest in God's work provided for in our salvation. We are to move on to maturity in Christ, and in doing so, to enter into His Rest!

Hebrews 4:8-11

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s
rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every
effort to enter
that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

That was written to Jewish believers who were still trying to live by the Law. They were keeping the Sabbath day as found in the Law. The author of Hebrews spoke of a different Sabbath rest. One that is on a daily continuous rest. Jesus on the Cross shouted out.."It is Finished!" We are to learn to enter into His Rest.

Jews did not learn to enter into the typical Sabbath day. It was just something you had to do.. not learn to enter into. The Sabbath Rest of God comes from an inner peace and tranquility of soul that is supernatural in nature... not natural as in keeping physically the Sabbath day.

The Sabbath as found in the Law was only a shadow of the realities that was ushered in for the Church age.

Get out out of that time machine and live in what God has for His Bride today. Israel was not the Bride of Christ. There Sabbath day was one thing. It was for Israel. God has something much greater for those who are to share in His kingdom who live all over the world.

That is, if you want it.
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no
one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Jerusalem was destroyed in 70AD. The book of Hebrews was written to the Church in Jerusalem which had been living in disobedience to the message of God's grace. They were instead zealous for the Law. They stuck to their legalistic guns. They perished. They religiously kept their Sabbath days and were destroyed.

Acts 21:20

When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul:
“You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed,
and all of them are zealous for the law.

They failed to enter into God's inner Sabbath rest for the soul. They were destroyed in 70AD. And, you want to do what they did? They rejected grace and truth in the power of the Spirit. Instead, they were content to rest physically (as a religious experience) .. while neglecting the spiritual which God says.. make every effort to enter that rest.

Elder. Loving God does not mean you follow after the law and the 10. Sorry but that has been proven that it cannot be accomplished. Only one man was able to fulfill the law and He nailed it to the cross.
Jesus was nailed to the Cross but He did not nail anything there. He was unable to, he dying. I you are reading another bible from everyone else let us know.
We now have a new order and a new Head. Christ is the Head and Love is the Order.. Anything done without love is sin..[/quote]
Do you thing that the things of the Ten commandments is without love? Look at the and list the unlovable things of the Ten commandments.

One may try and not commit adultry. Good for them they don't sleep around nor do they lust after another. But yet pass by a man crying in the street and wonder what his problem is... Why is he crying in the street? He has committed adultry and has found himself out in the cold and does not even know God.. Then one who also has committed adultry that has been saved by the mighty hand of Gods grace comes along and leads this man to the cross of Christ where he was forgiven and gives this man a hope and a future. Does this man go around and preach do not commit adultry? No this man goes around and preaches Christ and Him crucified.. To the very saving of the soul. For no man will be made righteous by living the law nor the 10, It is futile. For even if you break one little bit of the 10 my friend you have broken the whole law and the only justice for the breaking of the law is death. So you keep preaching your death theory and I will keep preaching the One who came to set us free from it. For only by Grace through Faith can any man be saved and it is not by works of the law..
You preach the one who made us free from death as I do. The question is what death? Why? the answer my child is the same law. How can you preach deliverance without a reason to be delivered?

Problem reconciled: Let's eyeball Rev.20:2, ie, "1,000 years." All Greek to me but let's begin, ie, the accusative xilia ete, "for a 1,000 years" simply expresses extent of time. Revelation is full, not only of symbolical numbers, but of symbols of all kinds. It would be strange, indeed, if "1,000 years" were here it occurs in so marked a way all of six times, to be understood in a literal sense.

Again the 1,000 years began with the binidng and the imprisonment of Satan in his person (person, using the limited English to convey thet sense); during the entire 1,000 years he is not to decieve (planesa, aorist) the nations as he once did; these years end when mikron xronon, "a little length of time, sets in," Satan loosed in his person at Rev.20:7 - soon!

One binding occurred, ie, Lk.11:21, 22 that interferred most decisively with his deceiving the nations (Isa.53:12; Col.2:15), ie, last temptation (Lk.4:1-13). This is the binding of Satan that is here symbolized. It is in part and for a different purpose (namely as regards the woman and the continuous existence of the church in spite of the devil) symbolized already in Rev.12:7-17.

It took place when Jesus cried triumphantly on the Cross: "It has been finished!" at the Cross.

Sorry, got carried away again,

Jack

Jesus was nailed to the Cross but He did not nail anything there. He was unable to, he dying. I you are reading another bible from everyone else let us know.

Colossians 2:13-14
And when you were dead in trespasses and in
the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you
alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses.
He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations,
that was against us and opposed to us, and has
taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.

We all break the Law because we are born with a sin nature. We were all condemned by the Law's requirements for God's righteousness.

Jesus was the only man to fulfill the Law without failing. Having fulfilled the Law, he then took what was in the Law that condemned us, and with himself, had all the obligations to the Law that condemned us NAILED to the Cross! His Cross became our justification before God!

We are not to be justified by following the Law!

You're going to argue with Moses, instead of answer him. This is wholly unsatisfactory.
  • Why did you quote my statements without posting the full reply and Texts?
Because you haven't offered anything in defense of your statements.

What's your point? Not everything in the Law is not for us. Only the requirements (legal) of the Law have been nullified. If you eat meat without having first its blood poured off, no one is going to stone you to death today. Likewise.. No one is going to stone anyone if they do not keep the Sabbath day, because its no longer a legal obligation as it was under the Law. Please, wake up! This is the Church age! Moses, nor the Levitical priesthood are not heading up your congregation.

Hey, who is the 'him' Jesus said this to?
It wasn't us. It was an attorney who asked Jesus for a quote out of the Law, which is what Jesus answered with.

Jesus spoke as a rabbi who was under the Law. To those who were Jews, also under the Law. He was not teaching as a Church age teacher. He left that job with those who would enter the Church age, as he gave gifts unto men.

We don't even need to reach to this level of analysis - all we need to do is use the context and absorb not only the time frame a statement is made, but to whom it was given to. Answering an attorney's question hardly conveys that answer to someone who isn't even present. And yes, I agree with you - many of the statements Jesus made were to those living under the Law during its tenure, before His death redeemed their transgressions under that first covenant (Hebrews 9:15).

Who claims immunity from temptation? Not me!!

Specified 'of the tempter.'

If you see that much then you'd also see 'who' the law remains against. And 'who' is also not under grace.

Hey you can deny your position in Jesus Christ if you want. I like the positive while you dwell on the negative. Why? I love good things.

Sensationalism stating things I never said isn't profitable for conversations.

The LAW is against the tempter and the tempter is not under grace. That's as easy as this subject is.

What with this math stuff? Sin began with the devil. He was the first to sin. Do the math. You're not the devil. He has enough problems of his own. Matter of fact, when you represent him with your attitude, it embarrasses him. It makes him realize what a loser he is.

You have no temptation from the tempter or it's somehow 'external' and not in thought form where temptation transpires from same.

I'd call that an out of the mainstream view. It's a common biblical understanding that the tempter tempts within as 'in our thought realm.'

Fairly simple concept to 'most.'

Read scripture a little deeper you will find where the law was nailed to the cross with Him. Life is in Him not the 10. All men need deliverance from themselves.. For since Adam all are born in sin.. Dead in their tresspasses.. No amount of law or keeping one day as a sabbath will make you righteous.. Only one can do that.. Jesus

Tell everyone that that says Jesus gave new Commandments of love.

No, it doesn't say that.
John 13:34 documents a new commandment to love one another independent from the Law, and John affirms this again in 1 John 3:23.
However, there is no commandment to love God documented anywhere removed from the old covenant Law. John makes an argument that we should love God in the following chapter, which seems redundant by his own comment in v.4:19: "We love Him because He first loved us". There is no need for a commandment issued to those who love God naturally from their hearts.

Your appeal to Matthew 22:37 is a quote from the Law, in answer to an attorney who asked for a quote from the Law. No mystery there, and it isn't conveyed to us. The greatest commandment in the entire Law was spoken by Moses by his own volition.

You haven't supported your fantastic claims regarding a sabbath which God didn't ask us to keep, nor a 'sabbath test' completely foreign to Scripture. It is time for you to retract these statements as false.
