  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Lord's day.

The Lord' s day is Sunday.

  • There is biblical evidence that Sunday is the Lord's day.

  • There is no biblical evidence that Sunday is the Lord's day.

  • I don't care if Sunday is the Lord's day or not.

Essentially in their eyes the Bible doesn't have any merit or integrity. If one were to read the Bible and read what is there then listen to them it would be very plausible to reject Christianity and the Bible as bogus.

Spiritual glasses come from Scriptures:

Eph 2:14-19
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both ..JEW AND GENTILE.. one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of ...twain (Jew and Gentile)... one... new ...man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile... both (JEW AND GENTILE).... unto God in ...one body... by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both(JEW AND GENTILE) have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

The middle wall of partition. Gentiles cross and they were stoned for it. To cross it must mean they were stoned before they were stoned.:D

This creation wiped out the differences between Jew and Gentile in this respect. No longer inferior as to importance. Same plane. Olive tree hewn at the roots at Acts 28. Please read that again.

The Hebrews were encouraged to draw NEAR:

Heb 10:22 Let us... draw near

We are related NOW (as of AD 63) to the FULNESS of Christ.
Eph 2:13 But now (AD 63) in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are... made.... nigh by the blood of Christ.

Col 3:3-4
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid ...with ...Christ... in.... God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Remember the parable of the patch?

Mark 2:21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

That is a rent in Acts 28. Final rejection.

The potter's house?

Jer 18:4-6
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again ...another... vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

Now. What does this mean?

Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Our calling and the Lord were the only two related in this way. All others are SINCE and FROM the foundation of the world. The word "foundation" is the Greek katabole meaning destruction. Themelion means foundation. There was an overthrow of the world before man was created(Genesis gap).

Destruction and overthrow here:

Job 9:4-7
4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.

Lucifer rebelled and in the twinkling of an eye God conceived a plan for salvation then destroyed that which Lucifer defiled. Millions (4 1/2 billion?) years later He began the healing process. Our calling, according to purpose, was not revealed..but kept secret from the lizard. Any time He revealed to man Lucifer made a counter-move to frustrate the counsel of God.
God knew this would happen and conceived His plan to crush His head.

Its all in the fingerprints.

i promise, i still have no idea as to what your point is?

do it in 3 sentences or less, and I will buy you a hot lunch.

Froggy:

The Acts period shows Jews first and Gentiles in relation to the olive tree and Sabbath meant a lot.

Distinctions of the olive tree are wiped out in our calling and Sabbath is not important. No old cloth on a new one.

Our calling was conceived in a different time frame than the others. Distinctive differences.

Keep your frog legs. Oysters. I shuck my own. I like them really big so one has to bite them in two to kill them. No hot sauce. Natural flavor.

God is in the process to eradicate sin and death (1Corinthians 15:24-28). The event of which we speak is yet future. The times of the Gentiles is no more:

Dan 2:44-45
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

None of Revelation has been fulfilled. This great act in Revelation is destroyed by "prophecy experts.
So who are the seven churches? What about chapter 12? What about the 1260 days?

There is no such evidence to be found anywhere except in the writings of EGW.
Where in EGW would you find any such statement? Have I quoted EGW?
Is not the fact that God says it is "My Holy day" good enough?
God never even asked or suggested that Sunday be a day of the slightest significance and we say that it is "the Lord's day". On the other hand God says that the Sabbath is " His holy day" Consecrated to Him, Blessed and sanctified by Him, and we insist that it can not be "the Lord day".
Can no one see something wrong with that?

So who are the seven churches?

Synagogues by the internal evidence. The word "ekklesia" was not translated with consistency.

What about chapter 12?

What about chapter 12?

What about the 1260 days?

What about the 1260 days which adds up to what?

Rev 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen (sawest-past tense), and the things which are (present), and the things which shall be hereafter (future);

Therin lay the summary of the contents of the whole book of Revelation. There is a GROSS misunderstanding of that particular verse that has led many off course in interpretation.
The verse does not denote three things as to divisions. There is only one subject and that is the prophecy of the unveiling of Jesus Christ.
The Lord told John to write what he had seen. That makes it abundantly clear that this first chapter is the introduction to the whole Book. Introductions to books are supposed to be written last to make sure the introduction matches the content of the book.

Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God (the prophetic message), and of the testimony of Jesus Christ (which He bore), and of all things that he saw.

Those simple words would bear absolutely no meaning if chapter 1 had not been written AFTER he saw those things because in THAT case he had seen NOTHING.

Verse 19 is part of his introduction so the words “which thou sawest” are used in the very same sense as used in verse 2. John had seen all the visions of the book when the instructions to write was given to him. This explains why “therefore” must be added.

Rev 1:19 Write (therefore) the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

Look to the very end of the book:

Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches (assemblies)

These things refer to the book in its entireity....including chapter 1. The past, present and future of this book still resides in the future.

EGW? I thought we had to be in revelation, or it is a derail?

Now, the point is, that it does not matter, we can decide what day, according to Rom 14:5, and in gal 4, it was a waste of time, according to Paul, your op does not say we can't quote text, or thoughts from other books. Others have, why single me out?

Thanks, frogster.:)

It is not for us to take them back. It is for us not to make the same mistakes they made. Paul made it clear that we a grafted in and can be removed as they were. Romans 11.
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Which also nullifies your earlier idea that things were given to the Jews and therefore not for us. They are the root we are grafted in, therefore all that is of them are now for us.

here you're quoting romans, not revelation...why can't I quote other books too?

What is there in the bible that was not given to the Israelites or came through the Israelites? If that idea is to be carried through then we must reject Jesus, He was a Jew, came to the Jews and Died a Jew. The disciples were Jews. Salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22.
You have Israel in Brackets next to priest. Why? We are also priest, 1 Peter 2: 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Was Rahab a Jew? Was Ruth a Jew?

Peter quote....

ok, so it seems like we can use other text, from other books, thanks!

The bible has given us a way of studying it and understanding what the Holy Spirit has revealed. Isaiah 28: 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Looking at the reasoned possibilities, we can arrive at a reasonable conclusion.

  1. The day of the Lord possibility, can't work there are many evens described by John that do not relate to the end of time and Christ's second coming. As a matter of fact John even goes beyond Jesus' second coming.
  2. The most popular possibility is Sunday. No scripture support that. Siting first day evens don't help for they do not even hint of a reference to being called or considered to be the Lord's day. Not even the resurrection. If the scholars are correct John wrote the gospel of John after the book of Revelation. He used there the term "first day", would it not have been perfect for him to say the Lord's day it Sunday was regarded as such.
So we are still left searching.
One other suggestion still remains, not as popular as Sunday but more popular than the Day of the Lord. That is the Sabbath. How many times did the Lord say "my Sabbath or Sabbaths". Normally if that was done under any other circumstances it would have been fitting to say the Lord's but not with the Sabbath day. Why not?
The Lord has said.
Isaiah: 58 13 13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Jesus said: Mark 2:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Anything that is blessed and sanctified is sanctified to whom? Who become it's rightful owner? The offerings that we bless belong to? How much more that which God blesses Himself? Gen 2: 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Who would God have sanctified the day to? Who can make claims to it? It is certainly not an ordinary day.

Would accepting that John was in the Spirit on Sabbath cause a problem with you and your faith?

more verses not from revelation, so i guess i am ok quoting galatians, or other books.

Ex 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Rev 1:6 And hath made us..(ISRAEL) kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

The nation never met the standard under the law so the Levitical priesthood was formed to replace the Lord's intent....BUT...someday there will be a time when they do meet the standards through the power of the Holy Spirit and not their own merit.

No such things a a priesthood of believers.

You also choose to ignore much of the Bible.

As Frogster pointed out My Holy day isn't found in Revelation. You have to be getting this from somewhere else.
