If SDAs believe we are bound by the OT laws, then breaking those laws would be seen as sin.
But I don't believe that.
As a Gentile, I was not, and never have been, under the Jewish law. Even if I did used to keep it; Jesus is the Christ and came to fulfil that law. Christ is everything - the author and perfecter of our faith, the beginning and the end, the fulfilment of what is written about him in the OT, and the feasts and sacrifices. He himself said that food cannot make us unclean because it goes into the stomach and out again. We are unclean because of what comes out of the mouth - which is a reflection of what is in our minds and hearts - not what goes into it. Paul, once a devout, zealous Jew, agreed and said that food does not bring us closer to God.
The law could never make the Jews righteous and holy; Christ has done both - he is my righteousness and makes me holy.
Eating bacon is not going to change that.
