• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who even thinks he has...Perceive then how you hear:

Lu 8:12 And those by the way are those that hear whether comes the slanderer and takes away the word from their heart that not to believe to put their trust in.

13 But those upon the rock, those when they hear, with joy accept the word of God, those not having had a root, they for a time believe, and in the time of enticement, give up1.
1* Greek αφιστανται αφιεστα give up

4 And those which heard and are fallen into the prickle, walk, and are suffocated from taking care of the wealthiness and pleasures of life, and are not effectual1.
1* Greek τελεσφορουσιν τελεσφόρος effectual

18 Perceive then how you hear; for each who has, to him shall be given; and each who has not, even that thinks1 to have, shall be taken from him.
1* Greek δοκεω think, appear to be

What it really comes down to is do you believe God's wrath endures forever or His Love, Mercy and Grace.

...."for I am merciful,' declares the LORD, 'I will not be angry forever. Jer 3:12

"

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Cor 13:1-12

Hey there, Just thought I would say that I agree with the interpretation given in Matthew 10:28. How is it that the verse in Thessalonians is looked at ? 2thess 1:9 who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength,YLT

2Thess 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;KJV

When God carries out His justice and Judgement it would seem to me that once He carries it out its finished. For the KJV to say everlasting destruction seems to imply that something will be destroyed forever.
:amen::clap: Good post, welcome to the Christian Forums!

Destruction" in 2 Thess 1:9 will bring ruin of ignorance, rebellion and wickedness, not annihilation of a whole being.

"Physical punishment cleanses away evil; such discipline purifies the heart." Pr 20:30

I will turn my hand against you; I will thoroughly purge away your dross and remove all your impurities. is 1:25

Destruction and ruin of all unrighteousness.

Strongs Greek #3639
Original Word: ὄλεθρος, ου, ὁ
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: olethros
Phonetic Spelling: (ol'-eth-ros)
Short Definition: ruin, doom, destruction
Definition: ruin, doom, destruction, death.
3639 ólethros (from ollymi/"destroy") – properly, ruination with its full, destructive results (LS). 3639 /ólethros ("ruination") however does not imply "extinction" (annihilation). Rather it emphasizes the consequent loss that goes with the complete "undoing."

In simple terms, any object can be ' destroyed ' or brought to ' destruction ' without being eliminated or brought to extinction.

Taking scripture as a whole, all unrighteousness ( old nature ) will be made new . God creates, God destroys, and God restores.

Sodom is to be restored. Restored to wickedness ?
NO.
Restored to former state . Eze 16:55

What was the former state ?

Perfection, as it was in the beginning.

I understand your perspective and can appreciate why you believe the way you do. However, I do not fall into the fatalist category. To do so would give wickedness and unrighteousness more power than God.

As the scripture states, ' ALL unrighteousness ' will be brought to ruin by the consuming fire of God.

Removal and ruin of wickedness is a painful process . It is a process that every human being must go through.

All people will go through the ' fire ' and every person will be judged based on their knowledge.

To those who do not know they do wrong, will be judged lightly. To those who do wrong and know better, " believers' will be punished more severe.

The assumption you promote here ( that unbelief is punished with extinction ) is absolutely false.

According to Christ . Believers will be held to a higher standard, and if they continue to live as the ' lazy servant ' they will be punished with many blows.

You amaze me with your paltry scripture, do you not read the WHOLE thing? Do you know what a bond servant means? Who is a steward/seneschal?

The whole idea of the parable is to show that some who believe will be given small things to do in his Kingdom/vineyard, while other will be given more things to rule over.

It also shows that some will not be given anything but death.

Luk 12:46The lord of that slave will come in a day when he looketh not forhim, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. Would you like to die of cancer or simply die in your sleep.

Psa 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Luk 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise seneschal, whomhislord shall make ruler over his household, to givethem theirportion of meat in due season?

1Pe 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

You amaze me with your paltry scripture, do you not read the WHOLE thing? Do you know what a bond servant means? Who is a steward/seneschal?

Death is not just physical death.

For: Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 7: 1A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

You have no context you are all over the place. Where is your connection to these verses?

The point is ' believers' will be held to a higher standard. That is the message in Luke 12:47-48. Promoting that you get off because you ' believed' yet did not put to action that belief will not allow you to escape judgement and punishment. Remember, God shows no partiality. Acts 10:34

As far as ' death' . All humans are called to die daily 1Cor 15:21.
This ' death ' is the death of self-righteousness, self contentedness, selfishness , being self absorbed.

Notice ' self ' is promoted and' self' is exalted
. When ' self ' is exalted ' you focus not on your own behavior, but on others. And when you focus on others faults you fail to correct your own.

DEATH: he who does not have the Son of God does not have life...

Mat 13:49
So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

1Jn 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

10
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not, God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Mat 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting chastizement: but the righteous into life eternal.

Psa 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Faithfulness to words rather than faithfulness to God's character and nature will result in devastating results. This was the error of the teachers of the law. They didn't even recognize The Savior when He was in their midst.

Eternal life- is a condition achieved here and now. This is when ' self ' has died and has passed from death to life.. Eternal life is a ' condition' like the purity of a bride who has prepared herself for her Groom. Even ' believers' miss attaining ' eternal life ' .

"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love one another. The person who does not love remains spiritually dead." 1 John 3:14

You know what? They hated Christ. Why did they hate him? Who was it that hated him?

The reason the general population hated Christ was not that they did not recognize who he claimed to be, but they did not like it when he told them their government was corrupt and did not understand that the temple that was going to be torn down, was his body, torn down by them.

Everything he taught was against the principles of the general population. God sent them a delusion, which continues even today.
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Many thought that serving in the Roman army was the principle thing to do and that killing and war was just something that had to be done, just as the general population today, thinks that defending your country is the honorable thing to be done.

They are under a delusion, that God sent, to protect those who are actually believers.

The general population thinks today, as did the Romans, Pharisees, and teachers of the Law. The Senators, Congressmen, and leaders of the country, are God fearing citizens upholding the Law of Man.

They have been deluded and do not recognize that God rules in the Kingdoms of men.
Dan 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

When anyone protests the deluded thinking of the general population, they do not care what Peter said.

Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

And the Pharisees, much like you and others of the general population, charge believers with trying to pervert the gospel.

Act 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

Doesn't it seem strange to you that only 2 people made it into the Land of Promise out of 40,000?

How do you equate that with millions of the general population that pretend to believe in what Christ taught?

If the Pharisees, and teachers of the Law were against Christ, why not the Preachers and denominations of today?

You, yourself, preach LOVE and PEACE but deny what Christ said>

Mat 10:34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

You, yourself, against what Christ says, also say Christ will not deny anyone.

Mat 10:33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Do you know how LOVE is really conveyed and the meaning of Spiritual well being?

2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Deu 8:11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

Dan 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

My point is that Believers, in the God of Abraham , Issac and Jacob didn't recognize their Savior. And this is being repeated today by believers. And they are going to receive the greater punishment. This the is point and one that ' all believers ' need to make a note of in their mind, instead of condemning and judging others ' logs ' .

It is proper and expected of you to be able to discern the difference between what is righteousness and what is unrighteousness.

1Co 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

As is common today, many so called Christians sue each other at Law for even the smallest of things and allow an unbelieving Judge to be the culprit.

1Co 6:6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

7
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

"There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins."Ecc7:20

“Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.”

“For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful
to all” (11:32); and in the fifteenth chapter of I Corinthians, he
writes: “for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ”
(15:22).

Accordingly, when Paul asserts in Romans 5:18 that Christ’s one “act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all,” he evidently has in mind every descendant of Adam who stands under the judgment of condemnation; when he insists in Romans 11:32 that God is merciful to all, he has in mind every human being whom God has “shut up” to, or has“imprisoned” in, disobedience; and finally, when he asserts in ICorinthians 15:22 that “all will be made alive in Christ,” he has in mind everyone who has died in Adam.
