The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) criticized conservative talk show host Glenn Beck Tuesday over the former Fox News host's comparison of the victims of Norway's mass shooting to "Hitler Youth."

Why would a human being be so cruel. These young people have been through so much, and a weasel like Beck has to use it for a chance to get his face in the paper.

I never liked this guy.

Here's what he said exactly, according to your link:

"During his show Monday, Beck, called the idea of having a politically-oriented summer camp "disturbing" and likened those attending to members of the Hitler Youth, the Nazi Party's paramilitary arm for children.

"There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth, or whatever," Beck said. "I mean, who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing.""

The Last Word - Tea party camp: every child's dream

And I was almost starting to miss that crying fat boy too. It's relieving to know you're still around Glenn Beck. Keep the hits a coming.

Sounds like a typical All-American summer camp to me. No anti-semitic rallies, no anti-Christian or anti-American rhetoric - just fun.

Do you believe in at least 7 of The Nine Principles below?
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Have you ever felt like you're the only one in your community that see's what's happening to America? Well, you're not. Many Americans understand that Washington is broken. Many times it seems that the political solution is the problem. No more. Our founders knew the solution is We The People."

Sounds like hypocrisy to me.

How?

The Tea Party is not a political party, you know. The Labour Party in Norway was a youth camp for the children Labour (democrat) Party members.

Beck asked: "There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth, or whatever," Beck said. "I mean, who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing."

The answer to his question is the Tea Party and the 912 project, both of which Beck is affiliated with. If he thinks it's disturbing to have a Labour Party camp for children, and that it can be likened to the Hitler Youth, then surely he would feel the same way about the 912 project camp? Right?

The reason Glenn Beck made the connection to Hitler Youth Camps is because the Youth Camp was a Socialist Political Camp that taught the kids anti-semitism.
[which was a terrible and illogical thing to do, you're missing that part]

The Tea Party is not a poltical party and therefore the point you are making is not valid.
The Tea Party says it's not a political party. All the while it's members vote overwhelmingly republican, and the members its elected to congress are largely both economic and social conservatives.

It can call its self what ever it wants, but its goal is to influence politics. (its self stated goal) And all the influencing is in a right-wing direction.

Ok, maybe you're right. The Tea Party is a racist bunch of astroturf with a wingnut like Glenn Beck as their leader. They are destroying this country.
They seem to atract bigots, but that doesn't mean it's true of all of them. I don't think they are destroying this country. If anything they are guaranteeing Obama's second term. :D

LOL!

Obama rules!
Meh, I just consider him the best choice.

The current GOP is to far right wing for general election voters. Canidates that could put up a fight against Obama like Romney and Huntsman (as more centrist candidates) will likely be scrubbed by a far far right GOP in favor of disaster candidates like Bachmann. (or Palin)

I hope the GOP doesn't fall for that kind of thinking again.

Putting up compromise Democrat-Lite candidates is how they lose. They don't appeal the party base, and they don't appeal to democrats or the more left-leaning Independents.

I heard him on the radio a few days ago and it sounded like he stole a page out of Der Sturmer and replaced "Jew" with "Muslim". He was saying that the Muslim immigrants in Europe are conspiring to destroy western civilization and to do so they are taking up important positions in business. Then he went on to attack his opponents as nazis.

Liberals seem to have a bunch of people wearing tin foil hats. Nano nano
Reflexive generic insult to liberals for no particular reason. But the Mork reference?

I never liked this guy.

He didn't compare the victims to the Hitler Youth. He compared the idea of having camps to indoctrinate children into certain political views to what the Nazis did with the Hitler youth.

As much as you guys hate Republicans, I'm really amazed that none of you are talking about what he said after that: "I'd never send my kid to a Republican camp...that's what the Nazis did".

Funny, I don't hear any Republicans whining about their children being compared to the Hitler Youth.

For that matter, why do you say he said it just to get his name in the paper. If it's a talk show that discusses current events, shouldn't he discuss current events?

I happen to belong to a 9/12 group and the only "affiliation" Beck has is that the 9/12 Project was based on an essay he wrote. He doesn't own it. He holds no office in it. He's not involved in the day to day affairs of the group.

If one of the chapters chooses to have a camp, then that's solely their responsibility.

Ah yes, Glenn Beck. Quite a king of buzz words. I'm not surprised by his choice of words.

"Oh, they have a camp based around a political party? Hitler Youth." I don't see how that would be the instant thing to say after hearing about a camp idea.

It's a three hour show. His comment was part of a long conversation. You make it sound like there was just three hours of dead air with one sentence thrown into the middle.
