Why do people strongly dislike Christians?

Just do what every seems right to you. When Christians find a way to lover others, others will like Christians, that's all.

.

I am not into compromising the scripture (unless of course you can refute it for me). Christians do not need to conform to the ways of the world to show the world that they are all about love. Instead we need to demonstrate God's love, as defined in the Bible, to everyone. That is true love, and once understood, can be appreciated by everyone in the world.

No problem...do it.

I personally don't agree that the Greeks had a "non-spiritual culture". They were spiritual, and philosophy at that time was spiritual, just not always in the way that moderns expect.

Did somebody really try to claim that? I couldn't spot the post you referenced here, but anyway: I agree that it's a laughable hypothesis. Even the philosophers' schools were spiritual institutions, regardless of the fact that some of them introduced the mythos/logos-split.

I don't think 'Christians' are hated by many in the Arab world... in Egypt there's some mistrust between the Coptic Christians and the Muslims due to a long history between the two groups, but overall, I think Muslims overseas are much more concerned with things like the Palestinian issue, or the war in Iraq, and most of their negative emotions are directed towards America. It has a lot more to do with politics than religion... at least in my lifetime.

Since the Qur'an says that 'you will find those nearest in love for the believers to be those who call themselves Christians', that is usually the default mentality with which a Muslim will likely enter into a relationship with a Christian. However, a Muslim will typically also dislike that a Christian worships Jesus (often with some misunderstanding of the details of that), because that is seen as falsehood.

Why do people strongly dislike Christians? Over and over again I constantly hear folks say that they strongly dislike Christians. Why? Jesus' message was one of love. Christians should be loved, not strongly disliked.

anybody?

Because their deeds are evil, they have a heart set to practice unrighteousness and do not want to let go of their error for their pride.

They are their own 'god' without a single worshipper, not even themselves, for their conscience testifies against them.

because a whole lot of evil has been done in the name of God. A lot of it has been done by people naming themselves Christians. The Bible says that we will be hated for His (Jesus) namesake - but much of what Christians are hated for has nothing at all to do with Christians being followers of Jesus ^_^
True that! :sorry:
people disliked Jesus... but think for a minute about which people it was who hated him.... it was the people in power!!! the ones who stood to lose authority based on His teachings! the leaders of the established organized religion! ordinary people did not hate Him - not even when he exposed their sins - because He was so merciful and compassionate when He did so!
And that.

Though our minds have a finite understanding of love, our hearts are able to fully express it and experience it. Human Beings, more than any other of God's Creations are made to respond to Love. In the potential of Love, I feel that God has blessed His Human Creation.

Jer 17:5-6
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

Quite simply, because of stuff like this:

Because their deeds are evil, they have a heart set to practice unrighteousness and do not want to let go of their error for their pride.

They are their own 'god' without a single worshipper, not even themselves, for their conscience testifies against them.

It's kind of offensive to be called evil simply because I don't believe something that you do.

Having my character judged just because of a lack of belief in your God of choice tends to wind me up a little bit. I should be judged on what I do, what I say, rather than what I do or don't believe in.

That's how I see people, anyway. I don't hate all Christians, I have no problem with them believing whatever they want, but I do have a problem with people who are judging me without knowing me.

Or maybe they just hate Christians because you insult them so much, and then try to appear as arrogant as possible by putting a smiley face at the end.

A good question would be why do you dislike them so much? Hate breeds hate.

I never said you were evil.
Please don't put words in my mouth, thanks.

But, now that YOU mention it (you implied as much by saying 'because of stuff like this' that you hate Christians), your heart is darkened through your evil practices (hating Christians is one such practice that comes to mind).

Having my character judged just because of a lack of belief in your God of choice tends to wind me up a little bit. I should be judged on what I do, what I say, rather than what I do or don't believe in.

It became obvious your heart is wicked the moment you opened your mouth.

At least it's a 'they', rather than a blatant 'me'. ^_^

I don't dislike people, I hate sin, for I agree with the Lord.

It's not just you who does it.

And so you choose to insult the sinner, based entirely on false presumptions? Statements such as 'non-believers just want to be able to do what they want' or 'they know they're wrong but they can't admit it' are mainly annoying because they are lies, spouted by people who seem convinced that they are capable of mind-reading. I can certainly see why that would lead to people disliking Christians, if all they encounter is that.

We are talking about people who HATE somebody because of their beliefs, aren't we?

Would YOU say their hearts are clean?

Thinks they know why non-believers are non-believers and then act as if they're denying something they know is true or some such nonsense.

We are talking about people who HATE somebody because of their beliefs, aren't we?

We're talking about the people who do what I described, call other people evil, generally insult them and therefore certainly create the impression of hate.

Would YOU say their hearts are clean?

The non-believers or the accusors?

So, I'm not evil but I do evil practices?

I don't hate Christians, I have no problem with people believing what they want. I do however hate people who say I do 'evil practices', when I do nothing of the sort.

Blah blah blah, darkened heart, etc. Believe it or not, we don't live in a Disney movie, where darkness is spooky and evil, and everything light is beautiful and normally has a choir accompanying it, going "Aaaaaahhhh!".

You say I have a darkened heart, I call it using my brain, I've grown rather fond of my brain, we're close buddies.

Why is my heart darkened, apart from apparently hating Christians, what other evil practices do I commit? Why are they evil?

It's not Christians I have a problem with, it's people who seem to think they are superior to me simply because I don't believe.
