#1366 used 3 times in 3 verses. Here and 2 times in Revelation [ 1:16/2:12].

There are so many greek words used here I wanted to discuss but I felt this particular one was more interesting. I put Rotherham's rendering.

4:12 For living the word of the God, and in-working and keener over every sword, two-mouthed/distomon <1366>. And penetrating until parting of soul *besides* and/also spirit of articulations besides and marrows and judge of inner-feelings and thoughts of heart.

Textus Rec.) Hebrews 4:12 zwn gar o logoV tou qeou kai energhV kai tomwteroV uper pasan macairan distomon kai diiknoumenoV acri merismou yuchV *te* kai pneumatoV armwn te kai muelwn kai kritikoV enqumhsewn kai ennoiwn kardiaV

Strong's Number G1366 matches the Greek δίστομος (distomos), which occurs 3 times in 3 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

Rotherham) Hebrews 4:12 For living is the word of God, and energetic and more cutting than any knife with two edges, and penetrating as far as a dividing asunder of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and able to judge the impulses and designs of the heart;

1366. distomos dis'-tom-os from 1364 and 4750; double-edged:--with two edges, two-edged.
1364. dis dece adverb from 1417; twice:--again, twice.
4750. stoma stom'-a probably strengthened from a presumed derivative of the base of 5114; the mouth (as if a gash in the face); by implication, language (and its relations); figuratively, an opening (in the earth); specially, the front or edge (of a weapon):--edge, face, mouth.

#5136 used 1 time in 1 verse. This greek word is rather unique and used only here in this 1 verse of the NT. Bible version render it as "open/laid bare/exposed".

According to a lexicon, this word appears to be formed by the greek word #5137 symbolizing "neck" and the meaning giving in it is "seize by the neck".

Scripture4All - Greek/Hebrew interlinear Bible software

#4834 used 2 times in 2 verses. Here and in Hebrews 10:34. It appears to be a form of "passionate feeling" and I rather like the way Rotherhams renders it as "fellow-feeling" since the root word #3958 has the prefix #4862 before it.

4:15 For not we are having a Chief priest no being able to together-sympathize/be passionate/sumpaqhsai <4834> (5658) to the infirmities of us, One-having been tried, yet according to all, according to likeness, apart from sin.

sumpatheo soom-path-eh'-o from 4835; to feel "sympathy" with, i.e. (by implication) to commiserate:--have compassion, be touched with a feeling of. from 4862 and 3958
4862. sun soon a primary preposition denoting union; with or together (but much closer than 3326 or 3844), i.e. by association, companionship, process, resemblance, possession, instrumentality, addition, etc.:--
3958. pascho pas'-kho, including the forms patho path'-o, and pentho pen'-tho, used only in certain tenses for it apparently a primary verb; to experience a sensation or impression (usually painful):--feel, passion, suffer, vex.
Rotherham) Hebrews 4:15 For we have not a high-priest unable to have fellow-feeling with our weaknesses, but one tested in all respects, by way of likeness, apart from sin.

12 times in Gospels [9 times Matthew], 6 times in Epistles [1 time Ephes 2:8, 5 times in Hebrews] and 1 time in Revelation [11:4].

I found it interesting this word is used only 1 time in the Epistles of Paul and even more interesting where it is used in Revelation concerning the death of the "2 witnesses".

Hebrew 5:1 For every Chief priest from out of men, being obtained for sake of men, is standing the toward the God that he may be offering presents/dwra <1435> besides also sacrifices for sake of sins

1364. dis dece adverb from 1417; twice:--again, twice.

Hi  I've been thinking about this verse this week. A quote from Watchman Nee that I love about this verse:

"The word is living, that is it's nature; operative or powerful applies to it's ability to fulfill it's work on man. It penetrates and divides. Joint and marrow are embedded deeply in the human body. To separate the joints is to cut across the bones. To divide the marrow is to crack the bones. Dividing the natural from the spiritual. The things savored by man from the things savored by God."

#5010 used 9 times in 8 verses according to ISA. 1 time Gospels {Luke 1:8}, 8 times in Epistles [1 each in 1 Corin 14/Colossians 2, 6 times in Hebrews].

This verse taken from Psalms 110:4 and the hebrew equivalent word used in that verse is #01700.

A commentator did a fairly extensive 8 parts series on Melchizedek at this link for those interested.

Rotherham's Gr text in fem seems unique. Is there other places the term applies?

Not really sure what you mean by Rotherham's rendering in the "feminine".

Here is YoungLT of it [both of which can be seen at this Bible site]:

http://www.olivetree.com/cgi-bin/EnglishBible.htm

Rotherham) Hebrews 5:6 As also, in a different place, he saith--Thou art a priest, age-abidingly, according to the rank of Melchizedek:

Young) Hebrews 5:6 as also in another [place] He saith, `Thou [art] a priest--to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;'

However, according to the ISA Greek/Hebrew Interlinear, the greek word #5010 is N-Accusative-Sigular-Feminine.

#2124 used 2 times in 2 verses [both in Hebrews...5:7, 12:28]. It is rendered as "godly-fear/piety/devoutness/reverence.

This verse always touches me when I read it, remembering Jesus in the the "Garden of Gethsemane", just before Judas came with the soldiers to arrest Him.

http://www.scripture4all.org/

5:7 Who in the days of the flesh of Him, both petitions and supplications, toward the One able to be saving Him out of death, with strong clamor and tears offering,
and being hearkened to from the piety/devoutness/eulabeiaV <2124>.

Strong's Number G2124 matches the Greek εὐλάβεια (eulabeia), which occurs 2 times in 2 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

2124. eulabeia yoo-lab'-i-ah from 2126; properly, caution, i.e. (religiously) reverence (piety); by implication, dread (concretely):--fear(-ed).
2095. eu yoo neuter of a primary eus (good); (adverbially) well:--good, well (done).
2983. lambano lam-ban'-o a prolonged form of a primary verb, which is use only as an alternate in certain tenses; to take (in very many applications, literally and figuratively (properly objective or active, to get hold of; whereas 1209 is rather subjective or passive, to have offered to one; while 138 is more violent, to seize or remove)):--accept, + be amazed, assay, attain, bring, X when I call, catch, come on (X unto), + forget, have, hold, obtain, receive (X after), take (away, up).

#3958 used 42 times in 41 verses according to ISA. I was rather amazed at the number of times this word was used in 1 Peter, 12 times, almost the combined number it is used in all the Gospels.

It is used the last time in Revelation 2:10 concerning the Assembly of "Smyrna", one of the 7 Assemblies.

5:8 Also-even being a Son He learned, from which things He suffered/epaqen <3958> (5627), the obedience

Textus Rec.) Hebrews 5:8 kaiper wn uioV emaqen af wn epaqen thn upakohn

Strong's Number G3958 matches the Greek πάσχω (paschō), which occurs 46 times in 41 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

3958.
pascho pas'-kho, including the forms patho path'-o, and pentho pen'-tho, used only in certain tenses for it apparently a primary verb; to experience a sensation or impression (usually painful):--feel, passion, suffer, vex.
