I'm sure they do, but I can't figure out what you are hinting at? Are you trying to decide whether I want you to make an icon for me for my wedding? Because I haven't even put a ring on her finger yet, it would seem a little premature for you to ask.

Your wedding? LOL! I was joking about someone else's church wedding!

Matthew, you're an awesome kind of romantic. I'm glad she liked it so much!

(people who work with their hands to make beautiful things give the BEST gifts)

I don't know that I'm that much of a romantic. I told her that she is not allowed to ask for any icons, but that she can hint around as much as she likes about which icons she would like, that way I can look like the good guy instead of a wimp who just does what he's told. I also pointed out to her that iconographer's girlfriends get icons, but most iconographer's wives don't. So yeah... not that much of a romantic.

hmm... if I knew of someone in such a situation, it might be possible. Although if they are getting married in the next few months, it might be hard for me to find the time to paint something. I might just have to scrounge something up from around the house.

I hear most of the time on your hands is spent on the phone with a lady from out west? Hmmm, why does that sound so familiar to me?

I bought myself a bluetooth headset so that I could talk to her and still get some work done. Of course it will probably cause my head to explode at some point, but it will have been worth it, right? And I can't imagine why any of this would sound familiar to you....

Sometimes... But I also use the bluetooth so I can talk to her while driving, or cooking, or cleaning, or whatever kind of work I have to do. That way I still manage to get something done in a day.

Wow Kyriaki I never saw that before it is so exquisite :) it seems the stich is so small... not for older ladies like me... ;)

Thanks! As I say the ladies in my parish, I stitch like this now 'cause I won't be able to when I'm older!

32 stitches to the inch each way :D FUN!

I do, but I warn you - this method of embroidering icons is very time consuming and you won't get it soon :) It's lovely to do though. I hit a brick wall with this and didn't want to stitch it while I was annoyed with it, and didn't work on him for a few months, which doesn't help either. When I don't get distracted I progress a bit quicker!

That is understood. I have been trying for years to get an icon of the mandylion stitched for me by my sister who does the same thing, but she won't do it for me.

My lovely Iconographers :). I have a question.

I was thinking about possible gifts to get my sister for her wedding. I have an idea for a hinged triptych with the Theotokos (idk maybe eleousa, hodegetria, or enthroned, and actually rather close to my heart is the theotokos kykkotissa) in the center, and then on the side panels each of their patrons in supplication.

First opinion wise, do you think that is an appropriate gift?

Do Iconographers still make hinged triptychs?

I am always taking commissions, it's just a little longer of a wait now. I have enough work to keep me frantic between now and the wedding at the end of September, but my schedule is much more free after the wedding and honeymoon. And I don't see any problem with a triptych with patron saints on the side (and Kykkotissa rocks).
