  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:O No WAY!
Sock puppet alert lol.
U sure simon? Terry was an angry guy, katholikos is
more good natured.

Although his taste in avatar art is almost identical.
Good natured? really?
have you noticed how many times he has called people liars? ... I find his approach even more vitriolic than when he went by the "catholic christian" or "terryobrien80" title... :sorry:

quote=JacktheCatholic; That is Sola Scriptura for ya. Everyone can have their own belief.
LOL,... people don't appreciate your sense of humor.
That is freedom of Religion.
Sola Scriptura is searching the scriptures to see if what you're being taught is scriptural (it agrees with scripture).

As a Catholic we have to accept that even if it makes no sense.
It isn't easy being Catholic.

But in today's world people value personal freedom of view over anything else.
Except campaign financing and investment trading.
But as a Catholic we always have to place God and His church first, even before self and family.
Got the family part down. I'll keep ya posted on the other...

That reminds me of a man that said he would sacrifice his son for God...
I have a 19yr old I'd like to sacrifice right about now.;)

Oh! The reason I even posted was to say that the Kingdom of Heaven extends to Earth and it goes to the Gates of Hell.
Been there. That's right at the corner of Easy Street & Calvary Way, right?

Yeah, the Jews were told a lot of things by our Lord that didn't make sense. :sorry:

John 12:34 The crowd answered Him, "We have heard out of the Law that the Christ remains into the Age, and how thou say, 'The Son of the Man must be lifted up/exalted/uywqhnai <5312> (5683)'? Who-any is this the Son of the Man?"

I would probably modify that statement to, "It isn't easy being."
Greetings! That depends on which "yoke" one carries.

Matthew 11:29 Seize the yoke/zugon <2218> of Me upon ye, and be learning from Me, that meek I Am and humble to the heart, and ye shall be finding rest to the souls of ye

Acts 15:10 Now then any/why ye are trying the God, to put a yoke/zugon <2218> upon the Neck of the Disciples, which neither the fathers of us neither are we are able to bear? [Deut 28:48/Reve 6:5]

The personal stuff stops NOW (that means stop accusing katholikos of being someone else!!!!).
Don't make me stop this car.
Okie dokie.......

John 18:29 Went forth then the Pilate toward them , and said, "What Accusation do ye bring against the Man, this one"?
30 They answered and said to him, "If He were not an evil-doer, not ever this-one to thee we have delivered Him." :D

Why not turn the other cheek and start a thread on 'Roman Catholics, all the great things their Church does as witness to the Faith?'

No takers ...?

peace,

Anglian
:)All denominations witness to the Faith of JESUS, just not in the same way. Why should the RCC be any more special than say the Baptists, Pentecostals, Methodists, JW's, Lutherans etc..........
Maybe we should also start a thread on the Great Things Non-RC churches do witnessing the Faith.

It was in the first reading for all of you scoring at home. :)

That is a great idea!

Maybe I will start a thread to post something you like about a christian church besides your own. Something like that... not sure how to phrase it though.

Dear LLOJ,

I was posting in the context of this, and other threads, where there seems, sometimes, to be a concentration on the 'errors' of Rome. No doubt there are many threads on the errors of the Reformed Churches which I miss out on:)

But sure, a thread on what we like about other Churches would be great.

peace,

Anglian

Yes, any church.

I can find something nice to say about any church. For one thing if it is Christian then they are people that believe in the same God as me. That has to count for something.

If I were to start I guess it would be Pentecostal. I love how they have a strong community and spend lots of time worshipping God and that they want proof of being of God and not the devil.

Greetings Anglian. The RCC claims to no only be the largest Denomination [which it does appear to be at this time] but the ONLY Denomination that is not "defective" in its teachings.
I know there was a thread on the Errors on Protestantism but I haven't yet found it as the Search function seems a bit messed up for me for some reason.
