  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Μάθημα σολφέζ was in the 70s I think... too young to remember. But we had some other good ones occationally, like Σοφία Βόσου singing Άνοιξη or Κλεοπάτρα singing Όλου του κόσμου η ελπίδα. You can find all these on youtube nowadays & freshen up your childhood memories :).

hahaha....Mariana Toli ha??? what about Mathema solfez... or that you were too young to remember...??? I loved Romania's song and also Armenia... I hope someone from a small country wins... Finland is again a "hit" this year ....Jen those Finns love their heavy metal do they??? Also Azarbaijan's is interesting with interesting lyrics... and the two angels... BTW Switzerland is number one with second Greece according to the official gallops...

Finns LOVE heavy metal... We have a band (Apocalyptica) that plays Metallica on cello... they're pretty awesome...
There's a saying in Finland now that goes: Hevilla ei havita (meaning: You don't lose with heavy metal)... We'll see how it goes, I haven't even checked if they have streaming online for the finals.

It was a political song of protest wasn't it. "If you see tents, it's not a camping but refugees". "If you see ruins, it's not from the old times, but because of napalm bombs". And then "Panaghia mou, Panaghia mou, take my soul now" (because I can't stand this anymore, presumably). It's about the turks invading Cyprus. No, I wasn't born yet at that time :).

As the resident metalhead, I know all about Finnish metal (Amorphis, Nightwish, Sentenced, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Sinergy etc), but I have to say that I was disappointed mightily by the song. It is too cliche, even for Eurovision, and the chorus is not catchy at all, very indifferent. It's like a fourth rate pop-Manowar and that's really bad. Lordi had the KISS on steroids visual thing going for them AND a catchy song. I don't see Terasbetoni going very far. But I have to applaud the metalness :p

Hope this time you vote for Azarbaijan... then or Armenia or better yet Cyprus... They are going to the semifinals tomorrow... Hope they go into the finals they usually do not make it...:(

Well, congratulations!!!! I must have totally missed that between travel, jetlag and just generally being dazed and confused (constant state of being LOL)...

Me on the other hand found out today that we aren't moving to France either (Lorient sp? semi-close to Brest, on the coast where the naval aviation base is) so that bites too... I've pretty much given up hope to move to Europe for now... boooo... oh well, now i just hope we can stay here so I don't have to move at all and can work on my garden and other stuff.

Guess our plans for a European TAW reunion have gone up in smoke, eh?

Metallica on cello would be awesome! I would love to hear Master of Puppets played on cello!

Here you go then: :)

Excellent band, although I think their first one is their best (not surprisingly as it is entirely dedicated to Metallica material!).

I recommend that album Michael, I think you'll love it (not to mention it's a great way to introduce Metallica to others, fiancee perhaps?) ;)

Metallica also know about them and said they loved their music.

My fiancees reaction when I played that was: what is that? And then I explained to her it was Metallica played on cello. I am going to have to get that cd! But as for the fiancee, she thinks early Def Leppard (High n Dry and Pyromania) are heavy metal! LOL!

Just saw the quote...

And, I actually agree with her! Definitely High n' Dry at least. Although I suspect her opinion is not based on some personal conviction but because the stuff sounds too heavy! Def Leppard, too heavy! Hahahaha, good one! Pyromania is a great album though! And I'll say it, I also love Hysteria! There!
