  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey, Frenchman, Finn hates being out of the loop!

Dear Finnwoman,

Sorry for your not being in the loop.
I notified in another thread the quite happy fact that I'm now engaged to a nice and beautiful girl of romanian ascent. Wedding target : spring 2009.
Cool, isn't it ?

Wow, Finland sent an interesting song at the Eurovision contest... Laughed a lot.

Well, congratulations!!!! I must have totally missed that between travel, jetlag and just generally being dazed and confused (constant state of being LOL)...

Me on the other hand found out today that we aren't moving to France either (Lorient sp? semi-close to Brest, on the coast where the naval aviation base is) so that bites too... I've pretty much given up hope to move to Europe for now... boooo... oh well, now i just hope we can stay here so I don't have to move at all and can work on my garden and other stuff.

Finland has to send insane songs to that nutty contest to have a chance... we learned that two years ago when we won with those monsters singing Hard Rock Hallelujah.

Up until late 90s or so you could spot 2-3 decent songs per year in ESC. For example the Jonny Logan entries for Ireland in early 90s, or Celine Dion performing for Switzerland in late 80s. Also I remember 1-2 good greek songs throughout the years (for any greek who might remember, I have Μαριάννα signing Το δικό σου αστέρι downloaded on my mobile phone nowadays :) - very inspirational). But as of recently it's been just for laughs.
