Same with the Lord of the Rings, but I don't go around telling people Sauron is coming.
I hope not, most people realize fantasy from reality, one would hope. Do you tell everyone that the universe was all stuffed in a speck, by any chance?

So, if God needs a nasty bile-spewing person to come to his defense, he knows where to look!

You know, when I read this, I began to wonder if I'd asked my big question, then I looked back a this:

And then I remembered why I began this OP in the first place! And I was so lucky you came along and helped point out that pride and hubris and a total lack of self-analysis is pretty much all you bring to the table!

Yay! You love yourself so much, you don't even need Jesus to love you! He couldn't love you half as much as you love yourself.
^_^

Now perhaps you are beginning to understand the true value of creationists like AVET and dad to our cause. They show anyone who reads posts here, Christian, or non-Christian, regular or lurker, what Creationism has to offer. Condescending Hubris, Rampant Illogic, and Non-Christian Nastiness. They do more to convince the undecided lurkers that Creationism is garbage than anything we post.

I know of several lurkers who have posted their surprise at the emptiness of creationist arguments, and even a few creationists who have been de-converted from creationism because of this forum. I know of nobody (and I do mean nobody) who has been converted over to creationism (or Christianity in general) because of the creationists here. Keep up the good work, boys!

Thaumaturgy,

What about the good times (not that your OP wasn't good - it taught you many great things), but the things that went right in your research endeavours.

Personally, I am proud that I found the first three-dimensionally exposed duplex <ever> in a limestone quarry.

I don't think spending time on the net talking about your beliefs constitutes a profession, which is what I asked about.
Talking about the way to salvation anywhere is a good thing. All men are sinners, and in a depraved fallen state, whatever profession they have matters little.

Yes, we all die but we all try to live as long as possible and as healthy as we can. I don't doubt those instincts will arise in you when the time comes. My 90-yr-old grandmother is glad to be alive, thanks to medical science, with all her faculties and independence. All we have is the here and now, at this momement. Ignoring it, wasting it, condemning it is pointless imo.
No matter how happy to be alive we may be, the affair is temporary here. No matter what instincts people have. All we have in not here and now, or life would not be worth living. What we have here is a fallen state of wicked man, in a temporary state universe that will pass away.
As nice as the journey may be, it is short. Hopefully we learn stuff to take with us to the other side here. That is the name of the game.

Seems materialistic.
There is material there, even though it may also be spiritual, not just physical material. God's people are basically the forever rulers of the planet, and universe, in training, a royal people.
The benefits of our education can't be compared with the kindergarten physical, material only knowledge one can get in schools here.

Don't discourage him too much. What would we do for comic relief without dad hoc and stuff like Elvis in the Moon.

So, your idea of good work is to see people kept from a knowledge of God. Interesting.
Too bad for you that hundreds of millions all over the world are being converted, and have been over the last few decades. I read one estimate of 300 million Christians in China alone.
If any of those read things in a forum on the net you would never know, so don't think your personal knowledge means a whole lot.
The battle is raging, and being won, and the outcome is known already, and certain.

Are you always this cryptic? Wouldn't it have been easier to just say, "I believe in empricism when it agrees with my personal interpretation of the universe"?
I take the concept as far as it can go, that ain't very far. Pretending to take material concepts into infinity, and beyond is fantasy.

I think there's a verse that says for you not to store riches for yourself here on earth, or something.. You can't take them with you to the after-life.
I also heard a joke, once, that a rich man died and went to heaven. He asked God or someone if he could bring his gold to heaven too, they said sure. Then someone else in heaven said something about bringing in more material to pave the streets with, lol.
I can't remember or I'd say the joke exactly.
I'm NavyGuy7 and I approve of this post.

So, if God needs a nasty bile-spewing person to come to his defense, he knows where to look!
Even He seems nasty to those that don't know Him, or have chosen His competition for men's souls. But if He needs someone to dish out a bit of what the evos like to dish out, He might like my stuff a bit.

And then I remembered why I began this OP in the first place! And I was so lucky you came along and helped point out that pride and hubris and a total lack of self-analysis is pretty much all you bring to the table!
Not cowtowing to the god of the wisdom of man and the devil, is not hubris or pride. It is calling a spade a spade. I don't need self analysis, by the way, it is better to realize we are a mess, and look for His analysis! That 'self' stuff can mess you up something fierce. Isn't that the way of the world these days? Self this, and self that, and self creation, and self help, and self anything. Do they give out degrees in selfishness?

Yay! You love yourself so much, you don't even need Jesus to love you! He couldn't love you half as much as you love yourself.
^_^
Admitting either that we are a depraved mess, and sinners, or that we have salvation available has nothing to do with loving our self.

True. neither can we take this temporary universe, and it's death, and laws.

Yes, we can't take it with us. We can send it ahead, though, with interest by giving to His work!!

Reminds me of the filthy rich guy that died some years ago, and his relatives were hanging around, waiting for the will to be announced. 'How much did he leave?' one asked, eagerly? 'all of it' was the reply.

But strangely enough, I don't recall ever seeing you show any signs of humility. Funny that.

Oh, sure, you refer to people collectively as sinners and such, but I wonder if you ever question yourself.

You certainly never do on this board.

Again, I'm sure Jesus must feel lonely when you're around, because no matter how much he might want to love you, you are too busy loving yourself much, much more.

Guys, you can moan and groan all you want about the point Dad first made; but the fact is, he hit the nail right on the head.

How many of you can read this without batting an eye?

And I, personally, am tired of repeating over and over what a sacred calling true science really is.

You can huff and puff all you want against us, but until you start taking what we say at face value, and quit making jokes and trying so hard to trip us up with our own statements, you're going to have to endure from us what you consider to be callousness.

We're nice people --- we really are --- but if you want to work to get our dander up, we'll be glad to drop the :)s and show our :mad:s.

You pick ---

You are the one that brought up the motives of educated people. You like to gossip to your hearts content but when the tables are turned on you it's all of a sudden irrelevent. And profession absolutely matters. It's how people spend the majority of their time. Are you a pastor or something? Do you spend the majority of your time for selfish reasons or not? Since you feel self-righteous enough to speculate about others then lay your cards on the table.

No matter how happy to be alive we may be, the affair is temporary here. No matter what instincts people have. All we have in not here and now, or life would not be worth living. What we have here is a fallen state of wicked man, in a temporary state universe that will pass away.

Irrelevant. You contradict yourself because you say one thing and most certainly do another. No doubt you have taken your children to the doctor. I doubt you delivered them yourself. You are completely reliant on others while condemning them at the same time. It's a pretty backwards world-view.

Interesting, I didn't say anything about how God seems. I was talking about some of his mortal representatives.

Funny how you jumped on it that way. Seems like maybe you have a bit of a confusion as to which of you is God and which of you is mere ol' Dad.

You want humility?

Here in CREATION & EVOLUTION --- where Jesus is everything but our Saviour Who died on the Cross for our sins?

lol if these ideas help you get through your days, more power to you. What ever makes you happy providing it's not hurting anyone.

The benefits of our education can't be compared with the kindergarten physical, material only knowledge one can get in schools here.
Clearly, you can only speculate because you aren't experienced with either, are you?
