Mother Theresa, eh?!?!
Don't make me laugh, She's got to be the most overrated person in the history of anything. Seriously. Or have you not heard of her Dreary "House or the Dying" in Calcutta? Or how about all that money she raised? It went to build Nunneries.
And yet for all this, she can do no wrong in the eyes of millions. What a crock.
The books of the detractors are biased. Every dies, and when you get a houseful of dying, I suppose it isn't a place of mirth. But apparently she tried to give them the love of God, when many were tossed aside, forsaken, and unloved. That is one thing they can't teach in school, love.

Wow, and here I thought with an OP like that we'd see some actual respect.
I really thought that.
Creationists ARE scum.
There is a war of the worlds, and there are 2 sides. I like to try to make that nice and clear. Let's everyone get on their side, and let's finish this thing. The sooner the better, I say. It is a fight to the finish for all of us.

Your mythology was finished over 100 years ago.

Yes, many spend all the years in school just for the good of mankind, living a selfless life in the service to humanity. Their salary is donated to the poor, etc. But apparently most are out to get all they can, and that is merely a means to get more.
I think it's reasonable to try to survive while contributing. Given your posts I'm assuming that you chose a profession that some how helps people, or contributes to our knowledge in some way. thaumaturgy told his story. What's yours? Or are you talking out of your backside?

I have a cure for cancer, and all diseases, by the way. Everyone can afford it, and you don't need to waste your life in godless education to get it. Accepting God's gift of eternal life, comes with a new eternal body, that never gets sick or dies. Top that.
My brother is a devout Catholic, prays etc, and has chronic illness. No amount of praying or faith from my family or their church has cured him. Sorry, you've got nothing, dad. When you're in your 60-80's and your doc finds a lump up your but, abnormals cells, or plaque in one of your vessels requiring attention, I wonder if you will live by your words.

Don't forget that dad expects to spend eternity in a city of transparent gold boinking Marylin Monroe and other famous beauties. I assume this is what he is talking about.

You don't even pretend to make a point anymore, do you?
For some, I use less effort than others, as it would be lost on them.

Oh please -- show me a missionary who wasn't trying to score brownie points with their God, and I'll show you a liar.
Pleasing and obeying God gets rewards the ever after. It also saves men, and helps mankind. That is not something selfish, to any great extent.

Your mythology was finished over 100 years ago.
The rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated. The bible was here before you were born, and after you are dead, will still be here, and read by untold millions, and billions.

Telling people about Jesus helps people.

God never said we would have our bodies healed here. Some do, but, face it, we all die. That is when believers get healed good and proper, every one of them.
Aside from that, face the facts, this is a temporary arrangement, we all die.

Either way, I didn't know some christian's craved gold, sex and stuff in the after life.
Jesus told us there was plenty there. As for sex, that is another topic. I personally do not see anything wrong with it existing in heaven. After all, the garden of Eden seemed to be rife with that sort of thing.

Same with the Lord of the Rings, but I don't go around telling people Sauron is coming.

I don't think spending time on the net talking about your beliefs constitutes a profession, which is what I asked about.

"Given your posts I'm assuming that you chose a profession that some how helps people, or contributes to our knowledge in some way. thaumaturgy told his story. What's yours?"

Yes, we all die but we all try to live as long as possible and as healthy as we can. I don't doubt those instincts will arise in you when the time comes. My 90-yr-old grandmother is glad to be alive, thanks to medical science, with all her faculties and independence. All we have is the here and now, at this momement. Ignoring it, wasting it, condemning it is pointless imo.

You could no more take toilet tissue into the eternal future, than you could money. I like empiricism, long as it does not pretend to be the empire that counts.
Are you always this cryptic? Wouldn't it have been easier to just say, "I believe in empricism when it agrees with my personal interpretation of the universe"?

Too bad, if you didn't walk up to God, and say He was wrong, annoying me, I wouldn't be annoying you. It is a reaction, not an aggression.

So, if God needs a nasty bile-spewing person to come to his defense, he knows where to look!

Good, spare yourself the humiliation of the inevitable overwhelming response.

I can agree with you there. Your peanut gallery stuff is of limited import. Long as you keep it in that perspective, we get along fine. Cross the Almighty with it, and I have a problem.

You know, when I read this, I began to wonder if I'd asked my big question, then I looked back a this:

Ha. Look back through my posts. You'll see that I was among the first to take my lumps when I was wrong.

Have you?

And then I remembered why I began this OP in the first place! And I was so lucky you came along and helped point out that pride and hubris and a total lack of self-analysis is pretty much all you bring to the table!

Yay! You love yourself so much, you don't even need Jesus to love you! He couldn't love you half as much as you love yourself.
^_^
