How can I be lying to myself? The Bible is very clear that who so ever believes in the Son will have eternal life. I believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior by the Bibical and Godly promise I will be in Heaven with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Bible isn't all that clear about who, exactly, shall be saved. One interpretation is that only Christians will be saved...another is that only certain Christians will be saved...or that only certain people will be saved (and by their fruits, you will know them), or that all people will be saved in the end (for god so loved the world...)

There are a plethora of different interpretations within Christianity, and the source of these different interpretations is the lack of a concrete explanation of who is to be saved and who isn't. The verses above lead different people to different conclusions.
Here an interpretation of salvation from within the Bible that I like.
[bible]Luke 18:18-24[/bible]
A man walks up to Jesus and asks for salvation. Jesus tells him to give up everything he holds dear -- to sacrifice of himself for the greater good. To not care whether or not he is saved, but to care for others instead...
I am myself...and if I end up in Hell for being myself, then that is where I belong. I don't worry about where I'll end up when I die...I simply do what I can do to make life a little better for the people around me. I request nothing in return -- not even an eternal reward.
