To be honest, I have voted No, Mormons are not Christians.

I base it all off of Scripture. However, I do not feel like debating. So i'm gonna leave it at that.

I don't think the Mormon church is a Christian organization, but I can't read the hearts of the individual member, who may truly have given Jesus their hearts...

Fair assumption :)

I am voting yes, because anyone can accept Christ into there heart, religion doesn't save you, christ alone saves you.

I voted no because of the religion. Salvation I do not believe will come from the doctine of Mormonism, but then again, even a fervant 'believer' and church goer to Baptist churches can still be unsaved...

This proves exactly what is wrong with peoples understanding of what it takes to be a Christian, NO denomination is Christian in and of it self, some teach proper Christianity, MOST don't, voting on a group of people as Christians is exactly what is dangerous it makes a person think if they follow such and such a doctrine and follow through with this step and the next they are saved...Scripture is clear that this is NOT the case.
If your question is do their doctrines jive with the word of God? NO! neither do the baptist, orthodox, lutheran, methodist or catholic...So if the standard is on the religion/denomination then they are all NO.

I voted yes. Since the central point of the Church is believing and following Christ, members of the Church who adhere to that tenant are Christians. Likewise, the central point of any Christian Church is believing and following Christ. To say otherwise is...ignorant.
So any group who says they're believing and following Christ is Christian, no matter what it is that they believe and do. Just saying it is the important thing, zat right?

So if you believe in Jesus the Really Great Teacher who taught us to Be Excellent To Each Other, then you're as Christian as can be. Right.

Yes you are. I agree with your statement as I understand it.

Thanks.

No, they are not Christian, although the one's I have met are kind, decent people, and I respect the way they conduct themselves.

A core belief of Christianity is that God is Triune: God is one being and three persons, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Groups that fall outside of this core belief are not Christian, and these include Mormons and Jehovas Witnesses.

Christians are not Jews. We have additional revelation in written form that distinguishes us from the Jews. We accept their scriptures, but add to them the revelation we received from Christ and His Holy Apostles.
We read their scriptures differently than they do, for we see these pointing to Christ who has come, not Messiah to come.

In the same manner, Mormons are not Christians. Not only do they add revelation to the canonical scripture (Book of Mormon), they do not ascribe to the Oecumenical Creed (so-called Nicene Creed, or, more properly, the Symbol of Faith).

A better question may be "are Mormons Christ-like?" In my experience, there are a great many who are.
God will not forget those who do good works to, for and with the poor and down-trodden of the earth.
(Matthew 25)

I could easily say that Catholics aren't Christian as they pray to saints, worship the Virgin Mary, and Christ is not the central tenant of their faith, but an afterthought.
