  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It was sin that killed Jesus. When he allowed the sins to pass on to him on the cross it separated him from God. Separation from God causes death. I don't believe that suicide victims are damned.

Luke 22:3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

Which brings up some interesting questions, since we are told to confess our sins and KNOW they are forgiven. Judas didn't know he was forgiven, and couldn't live with that guilt?

I sometimes wonder if suicide is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

I was told growing up it is the unforgivable sin to commit suicide, but that would only apply if it is blaspeming the Holy Spirit, right?

Sorry I'm rusty. John 13:2 says the Devil put in the heart of Judas to betray Jesus.

Any sin can be the unpardonable sin since it's ultimate rejection of the holy spirit: there is no turning back.

God is life. Judas took his own. Therefore sealing his fate.

Yes, Jesus is God. God the Son.
So if Jesus is God and God cannot be killed, what happened?

Why is this important? Judas was forgiven but did not forgive himself in my opinion, likewise if Judas had really understood who Christ was then he may have chosen to do differently.....

The sad aspect of Judas' experience is that he bore a burden He did not have to bear. This is why when Jesus appeared He told the women to tell the disciples "and" Peter. He singled out Peter for mention because Peter had betrayed Him. Too many are running around carrying burdens that were long ago taken care off. At the cross Jesus forgave ALL our sins: past, present and future.
