  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh man... are you afraid you are going to incriminate yourself if you just say yes?

No need to explain to me how you celebrate it..

BTW- does this explanation mean you think we honor Mary on Christmas day and not Jesus?

We don't...

It's all bout the baby in her arms.

But I must ask, at what ever church you atted on Chritamss, do they put on a play with Mary Joepsh and the baby Jesus?
No I am not afraid of what you say.. We don't focus on the birth.. We focus that we will sing Happy birthday..We do our service a bit different if Christmas is on Sunday.. We do have a Christmas Eve Service but it is more focused on why He came and when He comes again.. Not on the birth of Christ... :)

i have never heard of any denomination who went out of their way to ignore Mary at Christmas or who ignores Christmas eve.

IF these things are true, they MIGHT honor her (I'm not so sure), and IF these things are false they dishonor Our Blessed Lady, offend and hurt her - and therefore her Son.

Therefore, to ME, it's not moot but critical if these things are true.

MY rather unpopular perspective.

Pax!

.

I agree.
Good points.
I would hope we are all more concerned with truth than being 'right'!

Well that's a good thing, because you were wasting your time. We choose to respect and love instead of tear apart and demean and disrespect the Mother of God.

God Bless, you are certainly in my prayer intentions tonight!!:prayer:

Okay...

I've never hard of this before so excuse me while I take this in...

you really do not celebrate Christmas in the traditional sense? No nativity, no tree in Church, No play with a baby Jesus, no sermon about the wise men and the star in the east? or the angle singing glory to God in the highest? ...no Christmas hymns?

and if Christmas is not on Sunday, no service?

What about Easter- do you celebrate that?

I give my children gifts yes. We sing happy birthday to Jesus Yes.. Do we reflect on Mary.. NO.. So I guess we celebrate it differently than some.. We look forward for His second entry into the world..

Contrary to public opinion, Catholic don't just focus only on Mary during Christmass time...it's more on the Nativity story on a whole, which is about the Holy Family...St. Joseph, St.Mary, and God Incarnate...baby Jesus.

It's a wonderful story, of obedience, trust, faith, and complete surrender to God's Will, on both the parts of Mary and Joseph.

The celebration of the Nativity Story, not only accurately retells the historic and miraculous events, of the Incarnation of God. It is also an important life lesson and model for us and our responses to God's Will in our own lives.

Peace be with you...Pam

If Christmas is not on a Sunday we do not celebrate it at our gathering.. We do like I said have a Christmas Eve Service.. We do sing Christmas Hymms such as The little drummer boy and Songs that focus on Christ.. We do not put on Christmas Plays. Our sermon is usually preached about why Christ came into this world. We talk about His coming again and How we are to be prepared..We read the scriptures in Isaiah and the Wise men.. This last year we focused on why the birth in the stable..

Number one, I am NOT filled with hate and rage thank you. SO, count me out of that prayer.

Number two, HAVE you read in any of MY posts where I have said I do not respect Mary or tore Mary apart and disrespected her??? NO???? YES, I respect what she did. THAT IS IT! Nothing more. STOP making accusations against me please and thank you. Why pray for me to respect someone I said I DO!?@? YOU are confusing me. Please, DON'T pray for me to fall into what I consider false teaching. Mary is blessed..period. THAT is it..that is what Scripture calls her..NOT Queen of heaven, queen mother..my mother adopted or otherwise...SO lets cool it with that ok? Thanks.

I would appreciate it if you would tone down the hostility.

There is no "time" in eternity, that's why it's called eternity.

"time" means the here and now, this world... until his second coming.

so obviously the word 'till' signifies the limit of the appointed time but does not exclude the time thereafter.. or Christ would never have used that word.

we use this all the time in our speech too...

what would we need prayer for may I ask? We are not walking in darkness or displaying Hate.. We do uphold the word of God as truth..If you are praying that we become Catholic then you might as well save this prayer for we are founded in the word of God.. We are His by His shed Blood.. We are sealed with His Holy Spirit and we take His word as truth and protray it to the world. If we are hated for this Jesus has already promised us we would be..

disagree on your concept of time.

Of what value is eternity, if it is not measured against time?

Eternity is the complete and nonending progression of time.

I am truly sorry that this upset you so much. Just to clarify I was speaking to Benedicta and never once mentioned you at all.

I assure you I will not mention you in my prayers tonight...but could you find it in your heart to pray for me? I would never turn away from anyone's prayers for me!! Anyone else who feels it in their hearts to pray for me, please, please do, I love knowing that I am prayed for!!
